For some reason gold on rubber to me is like taking a public bus to the airport to take a private plane. Both things that happen more often than you would think.
I wore a vintage Must de Cartier for a month long holiday in Japan; vermeil, manual wind, lacquer dial. Clambered up mountains with it, went boating with it, even used a katana with it on, had 0 issues. If you're just the slightest bit conscious of what you're doing, take the smallest amount of care, then you can do basically anything with a vintage watch with the exceptions Christian mentioned. Vintage watches are just so, so nice to own.
The “are you fat?” impression edit that cuts to you seriously saying “anyways, vintage… talking seriously about vintage watches is the best edit of any UA-cam watch channel in 2023. Macro shots be damned.
That shock thing about vintage watches is good to know. I'm wearing an automatic watch from 1961 and i have worn it to chop wood for the fire place and had no idea that's not a good idea. I will take it off or wear my casioak chopping wood. Learned something new.
The stuff about using meters for WR is strange unless you follow Omega. I would be better to use pool-style simple images, placed on the caseback to convey that message. It’s direct and to the point: “you can swim with this”
Any chance there's going to be a video on the Breitling ownership group's purchase of Universal Geneve? I would love to hear your take on what can be...and how it can also be disappointing.
The one that sucks to own: the one that "got away." The one concern I have about saving for the dream watches, even if it takes a while, is if the market shifts and suddenly it becomes the "hot watch" to have. The price can rise faster than I can save, until it's simply out of reach.
Hands up for the Speedy Reduced! Not settling at all - it’s one of my less expensive pieces. But I absolutely love my panda Marui. Spent over a year hunting for a nice example.
What sucks to own to me is watches with uncommon lug widths or lugs that limit your strap options. I didnt know 1mm would make for so much frustration. I like options so for most cases an integrated bracelet watch would suck to own for me. The Moonswatch is just a moment. I like mine. Button fell off. Glued it back on. One day it will stop working all together. It's just fun to have some color. The only suck is that it makes me want Omega to make yellow and red ceramic speedmasters which they likely never will.
Nonsense about the Speedy reduced. Had mine for decades and serviced many times. No issue at all. I don’t know why people keep repeating that myth. It’s also the most accurate mechanical watch I own.
Guys i Miss Sam , tbh I’ve gotten used to him now(not hating the new guy Michael) just joking of course but for real episodes with Michael and Sam would be insanely enjoyable and I would binge watch all of them
Have you been put off buying AP at all by their recent collabs and seeming departure from their historical roots? You discussed this a bit on the video you did discussing the Travis Scott watch but I was interested in if it would impact your future watch purchasing? I have been put off entirely and that is a shame as I love AP but they just seem to have gone down a road I don't want to follow them down and this isn't only because of the Travis Scott watch.
I love how a yellow gold sub is a “jerk off” watch but buying a white gold GMT and making sure every one of your viewers knows it’s white gold and not steel isn’t a jerk off move lol. For the record, I don’t think either are jerk off moves but your inconsistencies are comical
Love you guys, I have to say a lot of the watch commentators automatically take a negative vibe on the moon swatch. I’m wearing one right now and trust me, I’ve got multiple Daytonas… so why? Because it’s fun. Because I love the design of the moon watch. They come in different colors. I even like their cheap ass straps. My family will pick up one or two when we’re on a vacation and we wear them thinking about that vacation. So… Using your own logic. If it could cost hundreds or thousands of dollars for a part on a vintage watch, why would you bark at a couple hundred dollars for a disposable watch. Also, this whole notion of a disposable watch, everything‘s disposable and one way or the other. These things don’t literally fall apart like everybody says they do. I think my family we probably have about eight of them and we wear them all the time sometimes for a family picture, so far there have been no buttons falling off. And… I feel like these watch, influencers all love to rag on the moon watch and they just totally mess. What a brilliant marketing move this was. Let’s get people into watches. They only have a couple of hundred dollars? Here’s an easy way to spend some time with a classic. Do you like it? Someday commit to buying a real one
a SPACEVIEW sucks to own. I got mine serviced last year, took like 6 or 7 months, and this little shit broke in the same way AGAIN last week. It's getting repaired under warranty, but fuck my life!
I’m always terrified of shock with my watches. I play drums and you can put a lot of repeated and continuous G-force through a watch that way. I’ve always taken my watches off, except for the occasional quartz.
Vintage is a to general term in this discussion. Watches earlier than about 1950 are more delicate as the shock resist systems were not very common before. Also parts are harder to get compared to vintage watches from the 60-70-80. But modern watches once out of warranty are a nightmare. The brands have a monopoly as they do not sell parts. Service cost are robbery and long waiting times. One positive exception is Rolex. Fast service and the prices are still ok. And they build quality watches in the first place. VC, JLC, Lange, AP are beautifully decorated but robustness, cost and service quality? Good luck !
Micheal doesn’t talk about it here but he runs his own clothing brand and UA-cam channel “the iron snail” and is most likely very busy with that on top of all the other video work he does on the side. Sam is most likely here to fill in those gaps
my cleaning lady washed my shirt with a vintage dress Longines in the pocket and one wash was all it took to destroy it. a modern Tudor or omega would have survived.
I wear my watches at the pool, at the water park, at the lake, in the ocean, on the boat, when i play with my kids and when drinking . I wear them anytime i leave the house as long as im not dirt biking or shooting.. for obvious reasons. Despite this, knock on wood, they are in great shape. While i dont own a gold watch now, i would like to have one in the future, and i do not plan on changing my habits.
The watches I think suck to own fall into a small number of categories. 1 - Watches you went to edge of bankruptcy to own. Hope it doesn't need a service soon. 2 - Watches you only bought because other people liked them. 3 - Watches you're afraid to wear for fear of them be stolen. If you can't enjoy wearing it, what's point? 4 - Watches you thought were going whatever was wrong with you. It's a watch not therapy. 5 - Watches you hope other people will notice. No one will notice.

@@puck8434I thought Harris was the one in witness protection…

I think it’s really Michael’s humor that I really love, which is why a lot of people are probably having a hard time with Sam.
Sam is duller than a butter knife.
Sam is new to the channel, give him time to get comfortable before judging a person's personality based on videos you see on screen@@golfinguru11
I think sam works in a trio format, not the duo. Great to have Michael back!
I almost want to cry; Michael is back :D
I really enjoyed this video. Watched from beginning to end. More of this please. I like these two together.
My 1975 Datejust is incredible. Basically bulletproof, surprises me all the time.
Harris is back!
THANK GOD HES BACK
Omg Michael is back!
Both of you are 1000% right; it’s why I haven’t bought the blue Black Bay, my heart is really set on owning a Smurf one day
Seen Michael in the thumbnail…clicked like even before watching the video! Welcome back!!!
I CAN NOT WAIT for a deep dive video in to that Gerald Charles. Absolutely the most stunning piece I've seen in the last ten years imo
What a great surprise to wake up and see a new T&H video! Love you guys.
Happy holidays🎄
that sweater must suck to own lol...reminds me of the Swedish mountain man shop owner with the sauna in Frozen

Not settling at all - it’s one of my less expensive pieces.

Harris is back!! 😊
The reason gold watches suck to own is the reaction when Michael mentioned it cost 70k
Dudes, Michael’s funny as F.

You guys should make t shirts that say “bring Michael back”
Great pick on that watch absolutely stunning, so different
That Gerald Charles 🔥! Saw it at Watchtime NYC. Great pick up!
Finally!! Harris is back!!!!
Got to ask what are the undecies held on with ? Is there a specific glue?
I get rid of them if I don't like them...I have the shop at theo & Harris 😂😂😂
Agree, fellow PM watch owner here and I prefer them to all other watches.
Nonsense about the Speedy reduced. Had mine for decades and serviced many times. No issue at all. I don’t know why people keep repeating that myth. It’s also the most accurate mechanical watch I own.
Amen. I just had my speedy triple date serviced by my watchmaker and it cost me 1/3 of the purchase price. And I don’t care because I love it.
What is the brand of the grey rubber strap on Christian's skeleton watch?
could you talk about Baltic in the next video? It's a really interesting micro brand from france!

Christian fully acknowledges and owns his 'jerk-off' tendencies and is the source of much laughter for us all.
Insecurity literally steams off the guy on the right. Probably because small man syndrome
Great watch insights, keep them coming! 👏👍

Congratulations on the new watch 👍

Wooohoo Michael is back!
Where is the other guy? He was terrific. It depends on the vintage watch. Does Christian service the watches he sells?
2:13 a perfect example of why we can't let go of Michael

there he is

Harris’ back!
Lmao i love the sea train joke
When I see someone wearing either the Beaufort or Ashby in a city, I know they are in fact not rich but nouveau riche.
I can't make sense of Christian owning a 100k dollar watch and at the same time shilling a $10 podcast monthly subscription
