Love the 6800i, mines the makita I bought new around 1999-2000. Only gripe is idk why they used the small mount K095, thankfully 24” small mounts are still available and that’s what I run on it. Wish I had bought a new top end for it while they were available, mines getting pretty tired.
So from what you've said, the clutch spring is definitely shot. You can just get the spring replaced if the clutch shoes are still good. Check rhe oem specs on the width, then measure to see if your shoes are still good. Turning your idle down will just make it run fat and you'll have possible carbon build up to scratch the jug.
Can any of you guys tell me what a used, but nice and clean DOLMAR PS-6800i (minus normal wearing on the lettering and paint on the saw blade) would go for on resale? I’m looking to sell one my dad left for me that I have no use for and would like to know its value as I don’t know much at all about chainsaws. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you much and God bless you.
Older Dolmars are hard to price. Some know how great of a saw they are and will pay. While others are scared of finding parts. Regardless, the 6800i was one of the best saws they made.
Glad your able to put that chain to use brother! That is another beast of a saw you got there!!
Thanks bro, I appreciate ya on that!
Great saw. I have the predecessor Dolmar 120 and this one. Both keep my house warm since the 1980s!
Very cool. I have the 120si as well. Just picked up the Makita 6800i too, needs a piston though

She is a torque monster. Awesome saw❤️🌲🪓👊🏻🙏🏻
I was blown away. Hot rod stock
Great cutting saw Doug no wonder you couldn’t wait to run it
Exactly🤣 just need to get the clutch figured out.
What I really like is that it seems to have great chain speed for limbing but at the same time great torque. Impressive!
I need a new clutch for this monster, it chewed the last on up and spit it out then laughed🤦🏻♂️😆
@@IndianaDoug Well, at least you know the internals are stronger than the clutch was🙃
😆

She's a keeper!
I’ll not be parting ways will this one😎
Best saws ever. It's a shame that makita had to ruin the market Mike from Mo.
Such a shame.
Whoa nice bro
Thx brosky👍🏻
She Cuts eh' , did the clutch get any better?
Heck now. I should’ve gotten the entire system, I only bought a drum and sprocket. The springs are rusty🤣
