Oh my gosh! This is the cat's meow! I'm 65 and I still swing ... and you guys will, too, long into your golden years! Well, maybe not Doug! LOL So, it takes me back to my childhood and those gloriously, simple, days of feeling so free while swinging and singing away ... and back to the word underduck!!! Might be a PA word, but that's what we called it as kids. Have many, many fun hours (days ... years ... ) of laughter and memory-making! Love and blessings to you all!
Its nice to see a dad that takes the time to find out what their kids like. It’s also nice to see them play outside instead of sitting like a zombie in front of the tube! Nice swing, I still love to swing and I am 65. Good Job
This takes me back 70 years, guys!! When I was about 8, my father built a swing in the yard for me!! He used heavy 3" (or so...?) iron (steel??) pipe in a U shape configuration, with the two long, very tall legs buried deep in cement and a very wide crosspiece up top. It had one rope swing with a thick oak seat. I was an only child, a thinker, and I spent hours out there on my swing! In the Upstate New York winters, the swing came down, and you can imagine the joyous day when it went back up in late spring. Belle and family, I wish you many peaceful, thought filled hours on your swings and your acrobatic bar! Time spent out here will always be time well spent. :)
My first thought when you lifted the top beam was “Use the excavator”! When you decided to use it to lift the swing set, I breathed a sigh of relief! It’s a great addition to the property and there will be hours and hours of fun on it. I remember swinging as high as I dared to go and when the swing set “hopped”, I didn’t go any higher. I also didn’t jump off when it was going that high, but did when it was some lower. 71 and I still like to swing but much, much slower and more gently. You all have the best ideas for projects in and around your house! 💕👍👌👏💕
I've been watching your channel for like 5 years, now, and tbh, it's refreshing to see something simple and wholesome, fun for the entire family, because otherwise, I'm watching the news and all the craziness going on in the world today and it's so depressing. Thanks for a video that lets me escape the craziness if for just a handful of minutes to share some sanity and get to enjoy this project with you. Thanks very much. Also... Maverick is at that age that by the end of the summer he'll likely be tall enough to mount the swing without help. In any case, I agree not to lower it as he'll grown into it very quickly.
Best dad ever!!! Your children are living the best childhood kid could have. Bravo Mom and Dad! I think that thing will last way longer than you think based on who made it.
To minimize sun damage, you could buy a piece of shade cloth to hang above the swing set. It would also keep the children from getting sunburned while swinging in the summer.
This will give you lots of joy. What a fun addition to your home. In no time Maverick will be able to hop up onto that swing and get it going by pumping his legs so he doesn't need a push.
Who knew that Doug was a gymnast as well as an epic house renovator ☺️ The swing is fantastic. The kids will remember these kinds of moments for the rest of their life. So much fun!!
This was the most fun to watch because it was different than you all being inside working. Also Belle deserves the swing. Both of your kids are so well rounded and love to watch them learn about things most kids wouldn't want to. Maverick was so cute metal detecting, so excited about his finds. You both deserve best parents award. Great job.
This is awesome! You are the greatest, Doug! You might have a problem, though…I don’t think Belle is going to want to get off of ‘em! Maverick will figure it out…it’s not just moving your legs…it’s the whole body movement. I really enjoyed watching you put this together. You made it look so easy! I’m sure you’ll get years of enjoyment out of it!❤
So awesome to step away from the everyday work and make Belle's wish come true, she is in her glory! Maverick will soon get the hang of how to swing and he grows so fast that he'll be able to reach the seat very soon. I'm sure Belle will help him to get into it for now. I love this whole video where the family and fun comes first!
PS: You guys have just "cemented" your home castle with the children's giggles from this latest edition. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!!! And thanks for taking me/us along. Blessings.
You all are such wonderful parents!!! So thoughtful of you to build the swing for Belle & Maverick too. He will catch on soon. Oh, & also for you too😂😂😂. I loved the video as I always do. You all are such a sweet family. See you next time.
So glad to see this video. When I was little you could find me either playing with the chickens or swinging on my rope swing attached to a tree by the kitchen window. At 72 I would still swing. ❤
Very nice, Much better than the pre-made ones. I bought one for my grandkids home so they could swing and slide. I looked at several, decided on one that had good reviews, in a middle price range (not cheap). It was advertised as heavy duty. We followed directions, made sure everything was tight and level and legs were in the recommended position for stability. First day they used it the top bar developed a very noticeable sag in the middle, which got worse with time. The seats and glider swing were supposed to be UV resistant resin or plastic, but started failing within months. Total waste of money. You definitely made the right decision to build your own. Hope you all get years of enjoyment from it.
You guys are the best.😊 I'm retired and I have a swing. 😊 Awesome job! I too am glad this project was for everyone! 😊 I just love all the land you guys have.
I’m 77 and when I’m out on my E-Bike, I will stop at a park and swing!❤️ I also paint Happiness Rocks and I leave a couple when I visit a park. Never get too old to play 🥰
The seat is a little high for Maverick, but if he reaches up, grabs the rope and pulls himself up into the seat, soon his arms will be as strong as Dad’s. What an amazing family. I love every one of your videos. Even the ones you might think are boring.
I LOVE to swing as an adult!!! My husband build me a swing in my flower garden, it’s so relaxing to sit and swing! He made it so I can change out different type of swings, we have small grandchildren, it makes it perfect!
Yeah Doug smooth operator, I love that you have nearly every tool when needed. Great Swingset and it’s nice to see you lake is back… Both you and Ashley, don’t care if needs an upgrade your there, you can get it done….I feel I have been watching all 7-8 years, anything is possible.
The best part of you guys, is you have no clue how wonderful each and every one of you are! You could be the poster family for a life well lived! Never change who you are! 💕💕💕
Tell Maverick to lay over the swing with his belly on the swing. That way he can push himself for now. It was one of my favorite ways to swing when I was a little one. ❤
Never too old to swing! Family reunion years ago 89 year old man spent the whole afternoon on a tire swing, he was loving it so much no one asked him to get off!
Love that Belle got her wish for her own swing. I can even imagine her swaying gently in the garden reading her book. The seats could be a great template for wooden seats if they got brittle and you would make really good ones Doug.
My step dad built us seasaws a swingset and a baseball practice area. These are such vital projects. Your kids can have fun, relax and exercise. Which is something our current generation lacks in a big big way. This is an awesome job you guys did and honestly I am deeply impressed by the durability of the hardware. Things are so cheap and flimsy anymore. This thing will outlive your family for sure.
Swinging is great for brain development. My Mom was a teacher and she was sad that swings at many schools and parks were being taken down. It looks great!
I’m thrilled to see this. I’m, almost 80, but I desperately want an adult swing set. That’s one of the goals while renovating my home. I admit most people who meet me think I’m half my age; I’d like to keep it that way. Not vanity, just have so much more I want to do. Swinging is not only enjoyable but it works nearly all of your muscles while uplifting your spirits😊 What a wonderful project!
The best.. a big grown up swing set.. build one. Yeah. Make it so everyone can swing.. yeah dad!!! Your the best!!! I bought a chair swing and the bugs got bad so many times. So I bought a hola hoop, tied rope to hang over the chair and used safety pins and pined material around it. Made a roof of material. I could swing and the bugs left me alone. I used see through material or cheep lace. I made 4 and it looked so cool hanging from the trees.
Belle, what a great idea! It looks beautiful in that setting. Mavrick, you will get used to it, keep working at it and soon you will succeed. Well good for you finding pennies and rustic iron.
Love this! I’ve got the best generation pic of me, my mom, daughter, and my two grand daughters (my moms great grands) swinging. You’re never too old to play on a swing!
I have been watching you all for a few years now. I demolished an old and rotten garden arbour and bit of decking today. I don't think that without watching how you do things that I would have had the confidence to do so. So thank you.
Wow !!! Such a small thing to give so much joy, I used my swing even after college, it's a great way to reduce stress or meditate. This made me smile has much has the children did.
While building a sturdy swing-set Ashley and Doug were also starting a vast array of happy lifetime memories. We moved frequently until I was a teen. I had one swing-set and I cried when we had to leave it with the house. Ashley and Doug's focus on family is the best way to insure their children will realize they are loved, they are important and they are valuable people. That set of values is vital for a successful future. (Doug, there's a medicine-free channel on UA-cam that shares techniques to help with various medical issues. I saw references to how to cure tinnitus, vertigo, slumped shoulders, knee pain, etc. If interested it might be worth research.) Terrific video!
I love the swing. Back in the 60's our swingsets were metal and it had tiped over many times, especially when we all got older. I would still love to swing even now. 😊❤
I ran a home daycare for over 20 years and our swing was made out the the same wood. It lasted more then 20 years (and over hundreds of kids) and have moved on to my daughters and still is in great shape. Check into the saucer swings...our daycare kids loved them!! They can lay on them while swinging and they both can use it together. That was the best investment we made for our daycare. I know your kids and grand kids will enjoy that swing for many years! 😊
This makes me so happy, I can't stop smiling! I've loved swinging from the time I was about Mavericks age. I couldn't pass by a playground without first checking out the swings and to this day I still do, however, like Ashley I can't enjoy a comfortable swing with the flexible rubber seat as it squeezes against my arthritic hips. :( The odd time we'll come upon a park with flat wooden seats that I can enjoy but that is a rare occurrence these days.So happy for all the fun and quiet times to come! THE SWING by Robert Louis Stevenson How do you like to go up in a swing, Up in the air so blue? Oh, I so think it is the pleasantest thing Ever a child can do! Up in the air and over the wall, Till I can see so wide, Rivers and trees and cattle and all Over the countryside--- Till I look down on the garden green, Down on the roof so brown--- Up in the air I go flying again, Up in the air and down! Enjoy!
Thank you for the reminder of that sweet poem from my childhood. That would be neat painted on a sign near the swing. Thanks again for the sweet memories of my playground days.
I’m 78 years old and I have that little book from my childhood thanks to my Mum. Thanks to my dad for my wooden seat swing hanging from a sturdy tree. Tears in my eyes when I read that poem today. Thanks to this beautiful true American Family ❤ May GOD continue to BLESS YOU ✝️🙏
Doug you are so funny, lol, you are like a big kid at times, lol! You all are such a great family! Not only do you buy and fix things for your kids but you join them in trying everything and spending fun times with you! Love your videos! Were you a gymnast in your younger days, lol great job on that bar,
As kids we used to climb up on the trapeze bar and use it as a swing fun times….would I do it now in my 40’s probably not lol. Enjoy Belle and Maverick.❤️
Awesome addition to the backyard! Fun for everybody! Makes me think of a poem I memorized as a kid, by Robert Louis Stephenson called The Swing: How do you like to go up in a swing, Up in the air so blue? Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing Ever a child can do! Up in the air and over the wall, Till I can see so wide, Rivers and trees and cattle and all Over the countryside- Till I look down on the garden green, Down on the roof so brown- Up in the air I go flying again, Up in the air and down!
At 71 I still LOVE to swing! 🥰 Glad you didn’t have to shorten the legs cause the longer the chains/ropes, the higher you can go 👍👏 How bout spraying the seats with RINO liner to protect them? (& might want to silicone around the seam of the caps so water can’t seep in and pool! Great job, looks like so much fun 🤩
Damn Doug - didn't know you had it in you - secret trampeze artist! Very impressive. The swing set is pretty cool, looks good and industrial strength. Years of fun and establishing memories. Nicely done!
Love the swing! Such fun for Belle & Maverick. I’m 73 but I remember swinging for what seemed like hours on a swing that my dad had hung on a tree limb. He made one for my younger sister on a nearby tree. We loved it.
Hi family, Wow what a wonderful swing set for your sweet babies! They will enjoy this beauty for many years. ❤ It was neat using your big bad boy to lift it, loved it. lol And yes Doug I can’t swing either, haven’t been able to since I was a young kid, it’s like I get vertigo all sudden 😂 It was so good seeing y’all this morning, have a awesome week! Stay safe, happy and God Bless ❤
Doug, Ashley and fam, I am especially impressed with this swing project. As with trampolines and swimming, (swinging) is a wonderful way to exercise and balance the body, because you basically use every muscle in the body while engaging in it. I am very sure each of you will all end up enjoying this fabulous swing set you're building, Doug. As for me, I feel very carefree while swinging. What's not to love about that? It made me smile watching the young'uns metal detecting. : )
You're a great Dad, listening to your daughter's desire of a swing. and getting it made for her and the family. It is a wonderful swing. I love the black metal part that fits the beam and the legs, that seems so much more secure than just bolting wood to wood which is probably fine as well, but this looks great. Thanks for taking us along on this build. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Swinging makes me feel the same way Doug. I’m glad your family will enjoy the swings and you can enjoy the trapeze bar. Look at you! Awesomely made with love.❤
Love the swing! My granddaughter and I can sit in the swing for hours and chat about school or life...she decides which one. 😉 No better place to spend time and solve the world's problems. Your two littles will have a place to swing away and dream of their next adventures into treasure hunting. ❤
I grinned through the whole video. That was so fun. What a burley swing set and I’m amazed at Doug’s upper body strength! Ashley…it needs a sign. You guys have to name it. It’s the tradition! 🤎🤎🤎
Nice! You could get one of those cages that swing to put on for Maverick or a tetter totter push and pull one until he is grown a little more they love those because they can sit together and have a ice pop or ice cream and still swing. We Always loved those.
Happy family! This is a nice gift for the four of you, because there is no age limit for the joys of the swing and trapezes! . What happiness! I am a grandmother and I always swing 🤩
You guys are the American role model we need. Such a thoughtful dad (and mom)! Protect your back - I have lived with a bad back from lifting a 4 month old wrong, over 40 years. It only gets worst…
I'm so glad you made a swing set for Belle/all of you. The swings are still my favorite. I like the seats you got, they don't smash you. Oh I love trapeze bars too. I used to do all of the stuff you were doing
This world needs more dads of your caliber. ❤😊❤
Amen 🙏
I agree ❤
True statement
Absolutely fabulous! Swinging is so relaxing yet exhilarating.
I agree !!! They think of their children's best interests. They both give them a great childhood. Many blessings to them.
He used heavy 3" (or so...?) iron (steel??) pipe in a U shape configuration, with the two long, very tall legs buried deep in cement and a very wide crosspiece up top. Belle and family, I wish you many peaceful, thought filled hours on your swings and your acrobatic bar! Time spent out here will always be time well spent. :)
That is a nice swing set you built Doug. I’m sure the kids will get plenty of use out of it.
Great job as always
My first thought when you lifted the top beam was “Use the excavator”! When you decided to use it to lift the swing set, I breathed a sigh of relief! It’s a great addition to the property and there will be hours and hours of fun on it. I remember swinging as high as I dared to go and when the swing set “hopped”, I didn’t go any higher. I also didn’t jump off when it was going that high, but did when it was some lower. 71 and I still like to swing but much, much slower and more gently. Oh wow, thank you for taking my mind on the journey of your younger days. What a beautiful trip.❤❤❤
I've been watching your channel for like 5 years, now, and tbh, it's refreshing to see something simple and wholesome, fun for the entire family, because otherwise, I'm watching the news and all the craziness going on in the world today and it's so depressing. That’s a really nice treat for the kids. Swinging is a great de-stressor - very soothing.
Your little projects are as good as your big ones. 👏👏❤
It’s great that no matter what project you’re on, you share tips and tricks. Well it doesn’t go unnoticed. 😜 thanks
We wish we had a swing set like that. We are so glad you can all enjoy it together.
Who knew that Doug was a gymnast as well as an epic house renovator ☺️ The swing is fantastic. The kids will remember these kinds of moments for the rest of their life. So much fun!!
Heartwarming family fun build. Maybe people would be happier if they all had big swing sets in their backyard. 👍
This was the most fun to watch because it was different than you all being inside working. Also Belle deserves the swing. Both of your kids are so well rounded and love to watch them learn about things most kids wouldn't want to. Maverick was so cute metal detecting, so excited about his finds. What a fabulous swing. I’m 78 and I’d love to have this in my yard. Have fun ‼️😁❤️
Well you sure made Belle's day! Every parents wish to make their child happy!
This is awesome! You are the greatest, Doug! You might have a problem, though…I don’t think Belle is going to want to get off of ‘em! I wish for all children to have loving parents like you and your wife. ❤
No one is to old to swing on a swing great idea👍
Love to see the whole fam enjoying life!! ❤
Mack from Midwest Magic sent me. Looking forward to getting up to speed with your projects.
You should go way back and view the remodels they have done, they are awesome!
PS: You guys have just "cemented" your home castle with the children's giggles from this latest edition.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!!! And thanks for taking me/us along. Blessings.
Awww, it’s so nice of you to do that for the little ones

I think this is the cutest video. You both do so much to show the love in your family. The whole world could use more swings! Thanks!
The seat is a little high for Maverick, but if he reaches up, grabs the rope and pulls himself up into the seat, soon his arms will be as strong as Dad’s. What an amazing family. I love every one of your videos. Even the ones you might think are boring.

Awesome! You aren't swinging until the pole comes out of the ground! LOL Those were the days.
The best part of you guys, is you have no clue how wonderful each and every one of you are! You could be the poster family for a life well lived! Never change who you are! 💕💕💕
Wow Doug takes the phrase Go Big Or Go Home literally 😊 another over the top project job well done 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Your children are blessed having a dad that can build ! Looks like fun 😊
Maverick’s glee 🥰, and we know Belle is just bursting on the inside! 💕

That is a wonderful memory you provided for your family. Thanks for sharing Doud.
Doug not Doud
No one ever pushed me in a swing my entire childhood. Good job Doug and Ashley. The world needs more parents like you.
Not my parents for sure. My sister who is 4 years older did though
I’m thrilled to see this. I’m, almost 80, but I desperately want an adult swing set. That’s one of the goals while renovating my home. Dang Doug... didn't know you were such a trapeze man. You just made some happy children.
Now that is an adult size swing. Yet, Maverick can still use it.
Wishing everyone lots of fun times swinging😊
The best.. a big grown up swing set.. build one. Yeah. Make it so everyone can swing.. yeah dad!!! Your the best!!! I bought a chair swing and the bugs got bad so many times. Very clever :)
Great idea!
Belle, what a great idea! It looks beautiful in that setting. Mavrick, you will get used to it, keep working at it and soon you will succeed. Well good for you finding pennies and rustic iron.
So Awesome.
You,are such a Great dad,Doug.
I love your family.
You truly Love, and Respect each other.
Another Fun project. ❤
Thank you. I appreciate that!
The giggle from Maverick was so cute! ❤ so glad you made them a swing set and know they’re safe
Love this! I’ve got the best generation pic of me, my mom, daughter, and my two grand daughters (my moms great grands) swinging. You’re never too old to play on a swing!

THE SWING
by Robert Louis Stevenson
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I so think it is the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside---
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown---
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

How delightful!! You are such a wonderful father…and Ashley is such a wonderful mother…your children are so blessed!!
Even grandmas love to swing.🥰
As kids we used to climb up on the trapeze bar and use it as a swing fun times….would I do it now in my 40’s probably not lol. Enjoy Belle and Maverick.❤️
Awesome addition to the backyard! Fun for everybody! Makes me think of a poem I memorized as a kid, by Robert Louis Stephenson called The Swing:
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside-
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown-
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
I thought the same that they might fill with water with no escape .
I was also concerned about water collecting in the caps.
Dad and daughter team work makes the dream work!
Damn Doug - didn't know you had it in you - secret trampeze artist! Very impressive. The swing set is pretty cool, looks good and industrial strength.
Years of fun and establishing memories. Nicely done!
This just shows how much you both love your kids and how Belle just might have her dad wrapped around her finger 🥲🩷 it turned out great!
Love the swing! Such fun for Belle & Maverick. I’m 73 but I remember swinging for what seemed like hours on a swing that my dad had hung on a tree limb. He made one for my younger sister on a nearby tree. We loved it.
Hi family,
Wow what a wonderful swing set for your sweet babies!
They will enjoy this beauty for many years. ❤
It was neat using your big bad boy to lift it, loved it. lol
And yes Doug I can’t swing either, haven’t been able to
since I was a young kid, it’s like I get vertigo all sudden 😂
It was so good seeing y’all this morning, have a awesome week!
Stay safe, happy and God Bless ❤
What a thoughtful gift for your daughter and family
Beautiful, sturdy swing set Doug.
A must for every childhood....I loved my swing...Good job dad !
That’s great for the kids including Doug 😂 you could put a bench swing later if you want a change. It looks great ! 👍 Enjoy !
Vreat. Who doesn't love to swing? Belle is happy and that is all that matters.😊
so glad Maverick is taking interest in Ashley's hobby i miss those videos hugssssss
It made my heart happy to see you all playing!🥰
Looks like lots of fun....I'm 66 ...and I still love to swing! Enjoy...peace and Blessings !
Wow, what a wonderful idea. Most people love to swing, it feels like like flying, such a happy feeling. All of you will enjoy it for years.
My Daughter is 20 and still loves to swing. ❤
i love this! finally a seat that won't squeeze me hips!!!❤❤❤❤
There is something about a swing that is relaxing. And, I love them. Just turned 60 three months ago. It seems childish but it is so much fun.
What a beautiful addition to your backyard! I want my husband to build one for our family now. 😊❤
Hanging upside down like that is wonderful for your back.
Youre such a good Dad your kids will always remember that swing set because u built it. I love the swing!! Great job Dad
Doug you are a wonderful father! Fun build! That swing set is huge. Lots of family fun in the future.Great video
I'm so glad you made a swing set for Belle/all of you. The swings are still my favorite. I like the seats you got, they don't smash you. Oh I love trapeze bars too. I used to do all of the stuff you were doing
