thanks! As far as I am aware, the renal columns are simply projections of the cortex which separate the medullary pyramids and they are histologically identical i.e. they contain nephrons the same way as the rest of the cortex, but they also provide passage for the interlobar vessels.

I know what you're trying to say but the view he has taken of this kidney is a posterior view not an anterior view as you suggest And the proof being that the vein is hidden by the ureter and artery - the renal vein is the most anterior structure

At 1:00, you've actually looked at the RIGHT kidney not the LEFT Kidney
