This video is an absolute lifesaver. BY FAR the best video on UA-cam about the nephrons. I have always been told that someone who can explain something very simply understands the material best, and that definitely applies here.

    Summary:
    1. Blood from the renal artery enters the renal capsule, where approximately 20 percent of the blood plasma is filtered into Bowman’s capsule.
    2. The filtrate then moves through the proximal convoluted tubule, where about two-thirds of the filtered water is reabsorbed back into the bloodstream, along with essential nutrients, to maintain their concentration in the blood.
    3. Next, the filtrate descends into the loop of Henle's descending limb, where more water diffuses out into the bloodstream through osmosis, facilitated by the high concentration of salt ions in the medulla.
    4. As the filtrate ascends through the loop of Henle's ascending limb, sodium and chloride ions are actively transported out, establishing the high salt concentration in the medulla, which drives water reabsorption from the descending limb into the bloodstream.
    5. Finally, as the filtrate reaches the distal convoluted tubule and collecting duct, additional water reabsorption into the bloodstream occurs, contingent upon the presence of antidiuretic hormone (ADH).
*the pituitary gland will release more or less ADH depending on the water levels in the body, in order to regulate how much of the water gets reabsorbed, this process is called osmoregulation.*

Hi! I just wanted to express my immense gratitude to you for making these videos! It has been a couple years since I have taken any college courses, especially A&P, and I recall being as confused as ever on this topic when it came up in class. Fast forward a couple years, I had my TEAS exam coming up for the nursing school I was applying too and I was so frazzled on where to begin and how on Earth I was going to be able to grasp all of these complex concepts in the three months I had to prepare before my exam. Not only were the concepts of your videos displayed in such an easy to comprehendible manner, you were also make them entertaining and not as daunting as they seemed to be! I am also extremely happy to say that I have passed my TEAS exam with a wonderful score and I owe a big part of that to you! Thank you for all of the videos and your hard work and dedication that goes into making them! I will continue to reference them throuhgout my studies and advancements in my future career in nursing!
