This video was really well done. 100. Tony and Matt were awesome, and I really like the format of the video where Matt was doing the work while Tony explained it.
Great video. May I suggest that at the end of the video you warn the viewer to start the car, keep it in park and pump the brake pedal several times to reset the correct pad adjustment before moving the car.
+Thufir Hawatt Thanks for watching. If any of our viewers needs to make this repair, we carry the auto repair part shown in this video on our website. Here is a link to them www.1aauto.com/search?q=brakes&year=2005&model=921&UA-cam&CTA+Comment&Qz4pwB4BWoA
They made a mistake. On this model the rear brake pads are not the same as with the front. The rear pads have one with 2 warning clips and one with none. The one with the clips goes on the inside next to the piston. The one without clips goes on the outside. They put them on backwards. I thought they would've changed after they saw the caliper, but they didn't. Look close, the outside "fingers" of the caliper are pressing against the clips. This will press the clips in against the rotor and make it squeal.
To Compress Piston Use C Clamp with a 1/2 inch piece of wood in front of piston then tighten. Result return piston to original position without damage.
Yeah I noticed one thing while watching this video when the Pistons were being a pressed in with the channel locks you can scar the piston and tear this tear the boot and the seal that is not the correct way to do that they make a tool for it
Wow! I tried doing brakes years ago, it was all so confusing to me. Whatever I did I started driving out the parking lot and the pads or calipers , springs or something fell of the brakes.. This is n excellent teaching on how to do brakes. I am buying a used 2010 CTS this week so this video is just in time..thank you!
Do any of the CTS have twist in pistons My 05 with sport package pistons move out and pads have worn evenly but I can't get the piston to retract with C clamp and old pad. I Bent handle on my heavy duty C-clamp.

+Dan Taylor We currently do not have an auto repair video specific to your vehicle. You might be able to apply some of the basic steps shown in this video to your application.
My new rear brakes came with a black ceramic brake pad cover of some sort. Its easy to slip on and off, do i keep it on so its sandwiched between the caliper and brakes or do i remove it? Its a super thin black cover that came on the back of my brakes.
+Bondinia Brown Thank you for watching. On the 2012 model, please view our video ua-cam.com/video/YDuCnMM5E8o/v-deo.html as it will be almost identical to what is on your vehicle. 1aauto.com
My question is, on my 03 Cadillac CTS the front caliber's are set to the back" is it set right or wrong - the same goes with the rear caliber's are set in the front, to me it looks off. Help me please"

+Modern Men Thank you for your feedback! We are happy we could help.
I was absolutely amazed at how quick he was when loosening those bolts .. . Nice work .!! Lol
My 2004 CTS has a 17mm bolt for the caliper, not a 13mm. The other bolts and torx bits are the same as listed in this video. Great video! Thanks!

That's common sense
@@FloridaBoy9411 true but some people are doing this for the first time and may not know this rule
I would be one of them, thanks for the comment. I’ll be working on my own brakes so I’ll definitely do that

You can use the old pads that's what I do
I changed my break pads and now it makes a horrible squeal and the breaks won't disengage fully. Anyone had this happen?

Okay but what if I don't want to remove the rotors? Do I not need the hex bit? Do I just take thr caliper off?
When doing video why not a video on fixing and adjusting E brake for all car you do brake jobs on

There’s just one problem...you forgot to tighten the T-30 Torx screw before putting the wheel back on!
13:48
Don’t forget to build pressure before taking it on a joy ride 😉
What does this mean? I did something wrong lol now my breaks won't stop engaging
does the 2004 cts uses the same tool as the one in the video?

Did the brakes on my 2004 CTS today. It has a 17mm instead of 13mm bolt for the caliper. The 18mm bolt and T30 torx are the same.
Most are the same from 03-07 the first generation Cadillac CTS
Ya it helps.
