    Prof. Peter Piot lecture was pin point and despite concern and warning from many experts like him we are not prepared for Covid-19. We are so lacking in terms of equipment and health care facilities. Lecture is spot on. Very informative. Thanks

    @ c. 14:00 : One of the very first things to do must be to open-source all research. Loads of labs tinkering away in secrecy is only going to make things worse.

    We might be able to be ready for pandemic if it involves a pathogen that is just a mutation of something we've already seen, but we are completely unprepared to respond efficiently to the arrival of a truly novel pathogen. There doesn't seem to be anything in current medical training that would specifically equip physicians to recognize and effectively respond to a novel pathogen. We would waste a lot of critical time looking in the wrong places.

      This comment isn't 100% true, at least not for China which notified the WHO of a new pneumonia sickness on Dec 31, 2019, just 2 weeks after the index patient spread the infection to others.

      I believe the first time I heard of this novel Corona virus was in early December which means it was already circulating in November

      Where comes the poverty, greed , colonisation idea to blame anyone at all. God, try to read or ask with some decency if you dont know what that means.

      No, the current situation is not what is being asked about. SARS-CoV-2 is not that lethal. Millions might die from it, but this question is about billions.
