Oh wow I didn't know that. I would have cried twice in this film then. The first being the cave scene. That always tears me apart. I feel so bad for Manny. Such a good guy, he didn't deserve that.
As much as it’s annoying that movie studios draw out sequels for money…I love these characters so much that I actually really enjoyed the other films. As long as you approach them with an open mind, they’re a good time. This first one though is of course such a classic
Fun fact about Scrat the sabertooth squirrel: it was supposed to be completely made up. They just created something that potentially could've existed back during the ice age. Sure enough, come years later after the movies were made, it's discovered the sabertooth squirrel did in fact exist.
Unfortunately this was debunked by Smithsonian back in 2022, so nope there’s no real Scrat anymore but paleontologist have said squirrels look pretty much the same

22:44 Blue Sky shut down not too long ago, sadly. "Nimona" paid tribute to it by having a billboard in the background that was spray-painted "Blue Sky Never Dies" because Blue Sky was originally producing "Nimona" before the company shut down and the movie was passed to another company and released by Netflix. In the end credits, Nimona herself turns into Scrat, the "little bugger" with the acorn in all the Ice Age movies. He never gets to eat it in the movies, but to sadly announce their closing and say goodbye, Blue Sky released a tiny animated short of Scrat finally getting his acorn.
Sids introduction is such a mood though lmfao "Why 😢" and omg see I never understood why everyone has been saying the baby is ugly in memes 😭 he's so adorable lol
Unfun fact, Diego was actually supposed to die, he is technically dead on screen when they leave him. But the children in the test audience cried too much so they added last minute his return That baby always was so cute and acting like a normal baby. I don't know why he is so hated
Ice age is a masterpiece. For all ages, funny as hell and actually emotional. You were so right to laugh your soul out the entire time and actually like Sid the first minute he was introduced. Ice age is such a classic film. Last year I found out that one of my uni lecturers worked on Ice age as an animator and actually got to animate some of the characters which was really cool.
Sid is actually a Megalonx, a giant ground sloth species. It was related to the Megatherium, which could be the size of the mammoth. Dodo birds were actually only found in one place in the world, on the island of Marutius, and were not part of the ice age extinction. They didn’t go extinct until 1670 due to human hunters.
Love that info! Also dodos were hunted by humans so easily as they had no natural predators on the island so they wouldn’t run away from the hunters. They literally had no fight or flight 😂
@@Kyoshin116 Some docu's I have seen even mentioned that the sailors didn't like to eat the birds. Multiple sources said they tasted horrible. Apparently the only way to make it taste good was by adding fat from tortoises. It's probably the rats that humans introduced that did the dodo's in.
@@AVDB95 Damn, I did not know that bit about them tasting bad. But you’re right, it probably was the rats and other pests from that ships that finally did them in. That and all the other factors humans bring like destroying the habitat and building on the island
