Hi Mark- Great MMMB; thank you, as always! Fantastic viewer comments and tips. I hope your week is off to a great start. Be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Mark!
@MarkSzorady another great 3MB thanks to you for being humble and selfless sharing other people's wisdom and acknowledging them. A lot of the topics you discussed today validated my frugal wet shaving. At the same time I'm loving the high quality Razors out there. I just us3d my Rockwell 6S with a Wilkinson Sword Blade. I used my scuttle bowl and the Proraso Green line up from Pre shave/ Soap & tube combo/post splash & balm. I used my RazoRock 400 24 mm brush. I started wet shaving on 02/01/2022 and my technique has vastly improved. I noticed that pre shave oil helps me get a better shave & less irritation.
Just did a nice bbs head shave while listening to my favorite wet shaving segment 👍🏻 Some gear I used; Leaf razor, Nacet blades, PAA Phantom Aerolite, PAA Enlightener Well CK6, PAA high jump 47 star jelly. What a great shave!
Josh, credit for the shirt goes to my sister-in-law Lori. She always remembers my birthday, Christmas, etc. by giving me some really awesome apparel.:)
Great MMMB as usual. Lots of great information Ike shave soap sounds great. For the Rockwell razor, I have both the 6S and 6C and prefer the 6S. to me the extra weight of the razor makes for a smoother shave. But that is for my skin and beard. I have found that the method used to make the lather in the lather spot also works great in my Gruner Pottery bowl. When I put the soap to the middle of the bowl instead of spreading it out through the entire bottom, I get a quicker lather. That is what works for me YMMV. Loved this week’s cartoon. Have a great week.
Great copper wire brush holder. Clever idea! Love the Rocky cat photo You're the 2nd person I heard today that forgot to put the cup on the Keurig today! Must be First Monday of April thing! LOL I LOVE the end of MMMB cartoons, please keep them as a regular feature! Diver Down rocks. It's my SOTD today. It's probably my favorite scent by any maker. As for building lather, I've found simply blooming the CK-6 soap, soaking the PAA brush, giving it a shake, dump the bloom water, 3-5 swirls in the tub, and whip up the lather for 2 min in your bowl. You'll have more lather than you know what to do with! I agree totally with Marc Bagwell. CLEAN THE BOWL, CLEAN THE RAZOR, CLEAN THE BRUSH. If you 'have' to save lather, do it in the bowl!!
Thanks, Jimi! I agree, love Diver Down.:) I need to swirl and brush load more.:) Yes, I'll be cleaning up...however, that leftover lather is tempting to me to use for ahead shave.:)
For me I don’t try to save left over soap. I usually load and whip up just about the correct amount of soap and lather to begin with. But also after all these years, I have collected enough soap to last a lifetime. Great show.
Thanks for making me and my "dog" Rocky famous on 3mb. Unlike some cats, he actually comes to me when I call him. Just don't have the heart to let him k now he is in fact a cat. You were mostly correct on the razors. On the top rack is a Henson, a Parker Variant, along with a couple of Above The Ties. Lying down on the left is a Crusader and on the right a Gillet 1954 Supper Speed manufactured in the third quarter - also my birth manufacture date. It's a revamp from The Razor Emporium. To think I got into the traditional wet shaving to save money on expensive cartridge blades. Guess that's the joke of our hobby. Thanks again for a great show. Love to start my Mondays with you.
Re: winter beard removal or beard removal in general... Taking the beard down with the clippers is definitely step one. It's way better than trying to remove the beard with a razor or scissors. I find that the easiest way to do is is to use the the closest comb guard, then apply some talc and go with the comb removed to take it down to stubble. Wash your face with some good moisturizing soap and let your face rest for a day if you can. Go with just a one pass WTG shave a few times, every other day instead of every day, before going to daily multi pass shaves. That skin under the beard isn't used to being abused by a blade so it needs some time to acclimatize. I'd definitely go with a non-alcohol aftershave like the Nivea Sensitive balm or something like PAA Star Jelly for several days as well.
Taking a beard off with a straight razor is very satisfying, and it comes right off. Besides the satisfaction of it you are 100% correct. I typically use trimmers at the lowest setting and then only initially shave WTG for the first 5-6 shaves. Good tips !
Picking up on that "Your Face, Your Rules" mantra, I'm a daily shaver and my beard isn't that thick or coarse. So, depending on the soap and blade, I sometimes do a 2-pass shave. Pass one is across the grain and pass two is against the grain. I can follow up with pickups if I'm chasing a BBS. So, a 3-pass shave isn't always needed. Maybe you could give that a try to see if it works for you? I did LOL about forgetting to place the cup when brewing with the Keurig. You are not alone 🤣 Another entertaining MMMB. Have a great week!
Mark, I found this when I Googled. "The two ends of a DE razor blade are called the tabs. In the past where manufacturing wasn't as accurate, manufacturers left these two end tabs exposed so a shaver could use his thumb and fore finger to adjust the razor blade into perfect position before locking down the blade with the handle."
Great video as always Mark- I like the copper wire brush holder idea and also the 90 year old Gentleman with his new razor 😂👍that’s one of the best things I have heard in a long while 👍✌️
Mark, I was going to email you to ask if you had heard back from Frank at Strike Gold. I’m glad you did. You might recall that the Ike shave soap is what I have. I figured you would enjoy it. What is interesting about the Ike scent is that Strike Gold also makes a JFK shave soap as well, and you would think that Frank would have used the Eight & Bob scent for that, but he didn’t. I guess I will have to ask him about that. I also highly recommend the Old Hickory shave soap - great scent as well. I am looking forward to your review of Ike. Also glad to see you got some Cella aftershave. I didn’t like it at first because of its “old world” scent and because it was very “alcohol forward” but it has become one of my favorites. It has great skincare properties. I’m glad you pointed out the scent profile. It doesn’t smell anything like the Cella soap, but complements it well.
Just for those starting wet shaving, you really don't need to buy a brush stand. Just shake the brush out and set it on the handle. The water will evaporate from the bristles with no issues, especially with synthetic brushes.
Good morning Mark! Please, lots of cartoons!!! Question, I just build my lather from my PAA Bay Rum Pineapple tub. Is this wrong? I would think that you actually save your soap this way. Just curious.
Says good luck in the top image no fishing bottom image have fun and no fish on the bottom his fishing rod has nothing to turn and his fishing hook is facing him in top photo it's not facing him
Good Morning, Mark!!! I thought Phil Wampler's Shaving Tip was very creative!!!
I agree, Beth.:) Quite unique and helpful.:)

Steve, it's something I've tried to do. I tend to be more generous with soap, especially when doing a review.:)
Good morning from Canada Mark. 🇨🇦
Bernie, good morning and hello to all in the Great White North.:)

Just to add a little bit of extra information. The talc works like a dry lubricant to help the bare clipper glide on the skin a bit.
