Thanks for the video. Question - did you actually need to remove the tap body to get the internal part of the tap out or could you have just taken it out from the top of the tub?
Very good point I didn't make in my video.... I had actually done one of the taps on the other side of the tub about 1 year previous, and I initially tried doing it in-situ, but it was so seized I had to remove the whole tap body and use heat and WD40 to unseize it in the bench vice. I was worried I was gonna damage the tub with how much force I was putting on it. I assumed this one would be the same, that's why I went straight to removing it, but I forgot to mention you can try doing it in-situ first. I'll pin this comment thanks!
@@TheFlyingKiwiNZ , thank you, that was my question as well. I will try to do it without removing the tap as well, but at least I now know know what to do if that doesn't work.
A year later and I had a similar issue at another house... search the Internet and find the same video :) 3 taps not working... all with the same issue, as described in this video. I managed to fix all 3 without having to remove the tap body... was able to remove from the top of the tub.
wow thank you. In the past I have gone down and bought a whole new unit and replaced it and now this worked and was easy I will never have to buy new unit again. I didn't have to remove the whole tap though just unscrewed it from the tub at the top. Thank you so much😇😇
Great video. Thanks for the detailed info. I found I did not need to remove the manifold to remove the valve stem. Just screwed it out in situ. Saved a lot of time. I put a bucket under the tub to catch the residual water in the line. Next time l would grease around tap and all residual water would flow into the tub. Thanks again, I would be lost without the video.
Thanks man - I had exactly this problem and fixed it with your help - to make it easier when you're dealing with a hot tap you can just turn the outlet valve off at your hot water heater
Thank you so much for this video - I have this exact SuperTub in a rented place we just moved into and this was the exact problem (but on the cold tap), and your video saved me a WORLD of pain!
Thanks mate, just had this problem and fixed it after watching this. You are right about the design fault. The engineer who signed that design off probably working for NASA now.
My Robinhood Supertub 1400 has a different kid of tap, which lacks the securing nut under the knob. Looks like my mate Authur Rightus and I are in for some work.
Important to turn a hose tap on when turning water off and leave it on when you turn water on. Water comes out of there first , stops loading the inside taps, cistern with instant high pressure. Also if any grit is dislodged it will flow out tap and not to sistern or nefa/ ajax walve and lodging in washer. 🙂
Most excellent video. I don’t really feel like going to this much trouble knowing that one person tightening it too much will wreck it again. I wonder if you could replace the taps? Maybe not financially sensible but I like to reuse

Cheers man! Another fixed tap checking in. Was lucky to not have remove the manifold. What a silly design.
May I ask what is the name of the tool that you used to remove the clip please?
A great video 👍
Circlip pliers. There are different sizes to suit ranges of circlip size so make sure you get the right ones
Was it necessary to remove the cir-clip?
