Ive been a KISS fan since 1975, I saw them at Madison Square Garden in 1977 and 15 times since, last on Dec 2nd also at MSG, I loved them but promised myself I would not see them when Ace and Peter left, but I broke that promise and continued to see them…..when I discovered GHOST in 2015 I relived my early KISS days, I saw GHOST in 2016 at the Paramount on Long Island in NY and at Barkley Center in 2019 and even at 60 years old I’m like I was in 77, I can’t wait to see (and hear) what GHOST has in the coming years. I got my wife and daughters into GHOST along with many friends and there were 9 of us the went to see RHRN

Ghost changed my life in 2011 when I discovered them. It gave me hope in metal/rock again after a dry spell. The visual vibe and music hooked me from the start. But the more hooky musical changes on the latter-day albums and the storylines just locked it all in for me. I cherish Kiss and Blue Oyster Cult, and Ghost certainly worships at the alters of both bands - Kiss for the vibe and visual style, and BOC for the musical vibe. Are they the new Kiss? Not sure but they undeniably are in terms of taking advantage of an extreme and easily merchandised image that has captivated a fanbase like nothing in rock since Kiss. And Ghost has snared folks like me (middle aged) and much, much younger The Kiss parallels are impossible to miss.

I got into Ghost when the song Rats came out and i must say , the song just grabbed me.Since then ive been a fan of Ghost.Definitely a band worth seeing live.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙂

I am/was a huge kiss fan but more as a kid. When Peter Criss left it sucked but Eric Carr stepped in and I accepted him but when Ace Frehley left, that was the end for me because the feeling was gone!!!!!😢😢

If the band GHOST would have happened at the same time as KISS in the 70s, I would have chosen KISS, they were more wild and free. If GHOST would have happened in the 80s during the KISS unmasked era, I would have chosen GHOST, they carry a more macabre theme which is more entertaining to the 18 to 35 year-old crowd. Now that KISS went out on a weak-note, GHOST is on my radar as a band I might pay good money to see live. Either way the original KISS were four distinct personalities, and played roles along with rock and roll music. GHOST is a band of largely unknown and unseen musicians, the focal point is solely the lead-singer. I agree with you Rick, GHOST is a theatrical performance set to rock music which unfortunately gets no-love from radio or tangible album sales in the 21st century. You will never see separate solo albums from the members of GHOST other than Tobias. The existence of GHOST as a live act and their current popularity is a prime reason why AI generated concerts will NEVER be as good or sought after as a living, breathing live performance.
No. I like some of their stuff, and the KISS influence on Ghost is there, however comparatively speaking ... KISS had a varied, large discography with material ranging from melodic ballads like Beth, Shandi through to rockers like God of thunder, I love it Loud, Young n Wasted, Thrills In the night, crazy nights etc. Kiss were more focussed on fun, having a good time (the approach to rock I prefer) whereas ghost venture more seriously into themes like religion and other themes in a little more of a preachy way I think...

We share a lot in common with our introduction to Ghost. Saw them in 2022, after Impera dropped. Left the show changed, and I am getting goosebumps just TYPING this. I was lucky enough to be in LA when they shot RHRN, and lemmietellya, the movie didn’t shows justice. Seeing was being there again. I actually bought the stream twice, so I could rewatch it after 7 days expired. As an Alic Cooper fan (I’ve seen them many times), I agree. It’s performance, not just a band playing great music. Kiss's live show sadly became frozen in time in the last 20 years, thank God they stopped. They were too stuck to the past glory of the 70's. From what I have seen Slipknot have a great live show. Ghost isn't the new Kiss. Ghost reminds me of bands you see popping up on Eurovision and has a revolving door of band members, around 24 at last count.

I agree that Ghost is the "New Kiss" meaning the Tommy and Eric era because Ghost hasn't been the same since the 2010-2016 lineup of Martin, Simon, Aksel, and the rest. Since 2016, it's really only been the Tobias Forge show akin to what post 1985ish became for Kiss: the Gene and Paul show.
I disagree, slightly with the Tommy & Eric comparison. & say that as fan of both bands, in fact I was a kissfan before being a ghost-fan however Timeline is everything. the people that have issues with Tommy & Eric wearing the makeup, tend to forget that Gene & Paul made that decision however the more you study kiss's history, the apparent it was that Kiss has literally since the making of destroyer been Gene & Paul's band, that is when the separation came in. and where that translate to Ghost is the modern music community tends to call Martin Persner & Simon & Aksel the original ghost lineup however if a person takes the time to actually study the timeline and in addition study Tobias's musical time. & what other people have said, Ghost began as a collaboration between Tobias & Gustaf Lindstrom the bassplayer from Repugnant. & after Tobias signed with Rise Above record he didn't have a band so he asked people he knew and Martin offered himself up as a guitarist so tobias could focus on singing. Back to the Kiss, when Kiss did the reunion tour Ace frehley & Peter were hired hands because they themself sold their rights including Makeup to the Kiss Corporation Peter in 1987 & Ace before the reunion
@@tommyforghe8709 That's true regarding the timelines and to add, the original Ghost guys played together in Magna Carta Cartel and yes, even though Tobias Forge created Ghost (like Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons did with Kiss) the only remaining "original" member(s) if you will in each band (prior to the retiring of Kiss) is Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Tobias Forge. The other players/members during the original incarnation were no more and only a memory. Now, if Ghost announces a reunion with the other guys, which I doubt will occur, it'll put them on a similar track akin the Kiss Reunion Tour but for now and for me, It's the Tobias Forge show. My opinion: 2010-2016 Ghost (or Ghost BC) had "The It Factor." Not taking anything away from the present Ghost just like the Tommy/Eric era of Kiss in makeup and only pointing out that houses once made of brick get replaced by those made of wood and straw.
@@gemini_man66 Well it seems that so far we are mostly in agreement, & But when it came to the Pre ghost , Martin Persner & Gurra famously never got along since the subvision days & in fact When Gurra found out that Martin Persner would be the guitarist There was a huge row between Tobias Martin & Gurra. which is why Gurra left. it also has to be noted that unlike Kiss Tobias found a way to maintain a relationship with Gurra & Martin Persner & Aksel but also his former bandmembers in Repugnant. Which is different than Kiss. Another little thing that not many picked up on is that Martin has famously defended Tobias & is still a big fan of his, & has publicly stated that if Tobias called & asked him to rejoin he would. Martin however did an interview 2-3 years ago & he was quite comfortable with the journalist & basically said that "we the ghost fan community really don't need to know what actually happened during the lawsuit". He also stated that Linton is not a person anyone ever truly got on with & called him an asshole. I also think speaking not from a fan perspective but a business aspect Tobias did once let the cat of the bag & stated that because the business acumen was set the way it was he took the financial bath & ghost didn't become financial independent until 2017. which is after the issues. Where i have to give him some credit He hasn't pulled a Gene & Paul & repeatedly trashed Ace & Peter & Eric Carr & basically anyone else that was in the past lineups. He has only acknowledged it twice.

I am still waiting for kiss to release something from NYC the final show on dvd. Some unreleased footage or something, there has to be something. I always wanted an ask the fans on the street segment or something- fans make the experience! Alice really is awesome! Always something going on, and something to see!!!! Very much agree. An ALICE show is such a theatrical experience, I love it. Hence it was always a "little" more fun than KISS to me. (Don't get me wrong, I love a KISS show, and would go again in a heartbeat). I just hope something cool comes out of all the NYC stuff. We need KISSOLOGY's again. 💕. I noticed your Ghost t-shirt a few weeks ago and was going to comment on it. My first Ghost concert was also in Feb 2022. Fanstastic and I was ALSO blown away with how good Volbeat was. What a great singer they have. Only let down to the Ghost show was they didn't play their brilliant tune."He Is". I didnt discover Ghost until 2017 while hearing "Rats" on sattelite radio. Was hooked and then bought all their music. Everyone should give Ghost a chance even with their satanic themed songs. Quite honestly, I dont even think about that much anymore. As far as being the new Kiss? Hmm. They share the anonymity with concealing their identities like Kiss started out. And they have a great Live show playing their catchy tunes that feels like a religious experience . But I feel the difference is that Kiss wanted to be the biggest band in the world at all costs. Even if that meant upset the supporters that wanted the band to continue as a dangerous band. Instead of being a marketing machine. Also, many of Kiss's songs let's face it, are about sex. Ghost sticks to more negative topics but somehow the listener feels comes away feeling great about it. Ghost had a slower approach to fame than Kiss. Just grinding it out and I think., in a more diignified manner. Of course the music isnt going to get wide coverage over the airwaves being satanic. I really enjoyed this vlog. Ghost is so superb.!!
Those are wonderful points! The minute after I finished filming this, I thought, "I should have talked about the anonymity GHOST had", especially (prior to the lawsuit). Something I have always felt they pulled off much better than KISS, even in the early days, with only one ghoul (Tobias) speaking for the band. I’ve been a fan of Ghost since Opus Eponymous. I did get slightly disappointed when they started going more pop mainstream sound, but I got over it quick and I’m still a fan. I went and saw Rite Here Rite Now. Loved it! I hope it gets released on Blue Ray/DVD I see the similarity of the make-up and costumes and a brand that has been created with Ghost, but I don’t see them as a replacement for KISS. Ghost is their own entity.
I’m in total agreement with the Paul Stanley banter. Gene and Paul have 30 plus years on Ghost. If it’s the original members in their prime, that’s the comparison to consider. In my humble opinion. By chance did my letter make it safely? Always enjoy and appreciate the videos.

Awsome video man i havent heard of ghost but i can say they sound like a mix of kiss and alice cooper kiss with the makeup and the pyro and how they do some of the merch and this one can go to both kiss and cooper the stage productions from what i saw ghost took inspiration from both on that one have a great weekend my man and take care
Here's my two-cents worth. Let's begin( Oh, brother....here it comes. Lol!) Around 2013, I really got in to Ghost. Their first album....wow! Second album, Infestissumam, was good. Not comparable to Opus Eponymous , Meliora and Prequelle. However, Ghost( Mainly, Tobias Forge) has great talent. I can see a definite KISS connection. Especially early interviews of the band. But here's the thing. When GHOST first came-on-the-scene. They were more compared to B.O.C. and King Diamond as a culmination of the two bands. I can kind of see the comparison of KING Diamond and Blue Oyster Cult. Especially GHOST's first two studio albums. KISS and GHOST, similar, definitely.

Tobias has repeatedly told the story that his Older brother was babysitting him & they went to a record store, & Tobias saw the album cover for Love gun & His brother told he could have it. Regarding the Blue Oyster Cult & King diamond that the music community tends to pin on him, Tobias has told many times that he has never been a fan of blue oyster cult at all, but it was rather Uriah Heep & Kansas for the vocal harmonies instead. & Angel Witch & Demon for sound

Kiss are different in that they had a rare talent for writing music that stood the test of time. Stands right next to the other greats like Sabbath and Zep and whoever. They did their own individual things of course but they had exceptionally well written music right from the start that reaches people in a special way that's so rare. They just understood quality always within their songwriting and had mountains of integrity even some people (usually older peeps) didn't quite understand that it was there. It was there though and it's made their albums absolutely classic. The whole package really but the music in itself is undeniably classic. I would play it for a kid to teach great riffs, chords, melodies and song arranging and so right up there with Beatles and whoever. With Ghost they do a big cool show and I'm not saying their music isn't good but it's admittedly a hard compare for me with the integrity that Kiss repeatedly showcases for at least the first 15 or so years. Ghost really gets the package deal aspect and that's good pop aesthetics for sure! -P.T.

Stand the test of time? Kiss? Lol maybe to nostalgic boomers but to most people Kiss is a joke. And you gotta be smoking that good shit to think they're on par with Sabbath.
I think it is important to acknowledge that this is an entirely different world we live in, and comparison to the old hasn't always worked out for anyone. Kiss was incredible for a 10-15 years but after that it wore off. in the case of ghost We still don't have enough data and we haven't really seen what's to come. if ghost had been around 25 years it would have been different. but opus was released in 2010, meaning we only have so many shows and so little music to make an educated guess. so perhaps this is a discussion really meant to take place in another 10-11 years
The new live album RITE HERE, RIGHT NOW would be a great jumping off point. It's basically the ALIVE II release for them. If you are just diving into songs, I would definitely recommend, "Square Hammer", "Rats", "Faith", "Spillways", "Cirice", "Dance Macabre" has a great roller rink vibe to it. Enjoy. I would recommend Meliora and Prequelle to get a dive into heavier elements then the more melodic rock. Those two albums were the transition point for Ghost into more accessible music But unlike Kiss, that shift has not hurt Ghost - and has only made them bigger than ever.

I’m a huge kiss fan as well as ghost, they’ve been on my radar since I was a teenager,in 2006 I seen the band on spike tv didn’t become a blip though until square hammer

I agree that Ghost is the "New Kiss" meaning the Tommy and Eric era because Ghost hasn't been the same since the 2010-2016 lineup of Martin, Simon, Aksel, and the rest. Since 2016, it's really only been the Tobias Forge show akin to what post 1985ish became for Kiss: the Gene and Paul show.

I disagree, slightly with the Tommy & Eric comparison. & say that as fan of both bands, in fact I was a kissfan before being a ghost-fan however Timeline is everything. the people that have issues with Tommy & Eric wearing the makeup, tend to forget that Gene & Paul made that decision however the more you study kiss's history, the apparent it was that Kiss has literally since the making of destroyer been Gene & Paul's band, that is when the separation came in. and where that translate to Ghost is the modern music community tends to call Martin Persner & Simon & Aksel the original ghost lineup however if a person takes the time to actually study the timeline and in addition study Tobias's musical time. & what other people have said, Ghost began as a collaboration between Tobias & Gustaf Lindstrom the bassplayer from Repugnant. & after Tobias signed with Rise Above record he didn't have a band so he asked people he knew and Martin offered himself up as a guitarist so tobias could focus on singing. Back to the Kiss, when Kiss did the reunion tour Ace frehley & Peter were hired hands because they themself sold their rights including Makeup to the Kiss Corporation Peter in 1987 & Ace before the reunion
@@tommyforghe8709 That's true regarding the timelines and to add, the original Ghost guys played together in Magna Carta Cartel and yes, even though Tobias Forge created Ghost (like Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons did with Kiss) the only remaining "original" member(s) if you will in each band (prior to the retiring of Kiss) is Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Tobias Forge. The other players/members during the original incarnation were no more and only a memory. Now, if Ghost announces a reunion with the other guys, which I doubt will occur, it'll put them on a similar track akin the Kiss Reunion Tour but for now and for me, It's the Tobias Forge show. My opinion: 2010-2016 Ghost (or Ghost BC) had "The It Factor." Not taking anything away from the present Ghost just like the Tommy/Eric era of Kiss in makeup and only pointing out that houses once made of brick get replaced by those made of wood and straw.
@@gemini_man66 Well it seems that so far we are mostly in agreement, & But when it came to the Pre ghost , Martin Persner & Gurra famously never got along since the subvision days & in fact When Gurra found out that Martin Persner would be the guitarist There was a huge row between Tobias Martin & Gurra. which is why Gurra left. it also has to be noted that unlike Kiss Tobias found a way to maintain a relationship with Gurra & Martin Persner & Aksel but also his former bandmembers in Repugnant. Which is different than Kiss. Another little thing that not many picked up on is that Martin has famously defended Tobias & is still a big fan of his, & has publicly stated that if Tobias called & asked him to rejoin he would. Martin however did an interview 2-3 years ago & he was quite comfortable with the journalist & basically said that "we the ghost fan community really don't need to know what actually happened during the lawsuit". He also stated that Linton is not a person anyone ever truly got on with & called him an asshole.
I also think speaking not from a fan perspective but a business aspect Tobias did once let the cat of the bag & stated that because the business acumen was set the way it was he took the financial bath & ghost didn't become financial independent until 2017. which is after the issues.
Where i have to give him some credit He hasn't pulled a Gene & Paul & repeatedly trashed Ace & Peter & Eric Carr & basically anyone else that was in the past lineups.
He has only acknowledged it twice.

Very much agree. An ALICE show is such a theatrical experience, I love it. Hence it was always a "little" more fun than KISS to me. (Don't get me wrong, I love a KISS show, and would go again in a heartbeat). I just hope something cool comes out of all the NYC stuff. We need KISSOLOGY's again. 💕. I noticed your Ghost t-shirt a few weeks ago and was going to comment on it. My first Ghost concert was also in Feb 2022. Fanstastic and I was ALSO blown away with how good Volbeat was. What a great singer they have. Only let down to the Ghost show was they didn't play their brilliant tune."He Is".
I didnt discover Ghost until 2017 while hearing "Rats" on sattelite radio. Was hooked and then bought all their music.
Everyone should give Ghost a chance even with their satanic themed songs. Quite honestly, I dont even think about that much anymore.
As far as being the new Kiss?
Hmm. They share the anonymity with concealing their identities like Kiss started out. And they have a great Live show playing their catchy tunes that feels like a religious experience .
But I feel the difference is that Kiss wanted to be the biggest band in the world at all costs. Even if that meant upset the supporters that wanted the band to continue as a dangerous band. Instead of being a marketing machine. Also, many of Kiss's songs let's face it, are about sex. Ghost sticks to more negative topics but somehow the listener feels comes away feeling great about it.
Ghost had a slower approach to fame than Kiss. Just grinding it out and I think., in a more diignified manner. Of course the music isnt going to get wide coverage over the airwaves being satanic.

Those are wonderful points! The minute after I finished filming this, I thought, "I should have talked about the anonymity GHOST had", especially (prior to the lawsuit). Something I have always felt they pulled off much better than KISS, even in the early days, with only one ghoul (Tobias) speaking for the band. I can't agree more with your points, you wrapped it up perfectly. Very cool we saw GHOST for the first time, during that tour. And yes I agree, VOLBEAT is great. Such great riffs and vocals. I’ve been a fan of Ghost since Opus Eponymous. I did get slightly disappointed when they started going more pop mainstream sound, but I got over it quick and I’m still a fan. I went and saw Rite Here Rite Now. Loved it! I hope it gets released on Blue Ray/DVD I see the similarity of the make-up and costumes and a brand that has been created with Ghost, but I don’t see them as a replacement for KISS. Ghost is their own entity.

I’m in total agreement with the Paul Stanley banter. Gene and Paul have 30 plus years on Ghost. If it’s the original members in their prime, that’s the comparison to consider. In my humble opinion.

Awsome video man i havent heard of ghost but i can say they sound like a mix of kiss and alice cooper kiss with the makeup and the pyro and how they do some of the merch and this one can go to both kiss and cooper the stage productions from what i saw ghost took inspiration from both on that one have a great weekend my man and take care

Around 2013, I really got in to Ghost. Their first album....wow! Second album, Infestissumam, was good. Not comparable to Opus Eponymous , Meliora
and
Prequelle. However, Ghost( Mainly, Tobias Forge) has great talent. I can see a definite KISS connection. Especially early interviews of the band. But here's the thing. When GHOST first came-on-the-scene. They were more compared to B.O.C. and King Diamond as a culmination of the two bands. I can kind of see the comparison of KING Diamond and Blue Oyster Cult. Especially GHOST's first two studio albums. KISS and GHOST, similar, definitely.
Great points! I'm with you, I always feel Infestissumam is my least listened to record from GHOST? Almost felt like they were trying (too hard) to do something different. Tobias has repeatedly told the story that his Older brother was babysitting him & they went to a record store, & Tobias saw the album cover for Love gun & His brother told he could have it. Regarding the Blue Oyster Cult & King diamond that the music community tends to pin on him, Tobias has told many times that he has never been a fan of blue oyster cult at all, but it was rather Uriah Heep & Kansas for the vocal harmonies instead. & Angel Witch & Demon for sound

Kiss are different in that they had a rare talent for writing music that stood the test of time. Stands right next to the other greats like Sabbath and Zep and whoever. They did their own individual things of course but they had exceptionally well written music right from the start that reaches people in a special way that's so rare. They just understood quality always within their songwriting and had mountains of integrity even some people (usually older peeps) didn't quite understand that it was there. It was there though and it's made their albums absolutely classic. The whole package really but the music in itself is undeniably classic. I would play it for a kid to teach great riffs, chords, melodies and song arranging and so right up there with Beatles and whoever. With Ghost they do a big cool show and I'm not saying their music isn't good but it's admittedly a hard compare for me with the integrity that Kiss repeatedly showcases for at least the first 15 or so years. Ghost really gets the package deal aspect and that's good pop aesthetics for sure! -P.T.

Stand the test of time? Kiss? Lol maybe to nostalgic boomers but to most people Kiss is a joke. And you gotta be smoking that good shit to think they're on par with Sabbath.
I think it is important to acknowledge that this is an entirely different world we live in, and comparison to the old hasn't always worked out for anyone. Kiss was incredible for a 10-15 years but after that it wore off. in the case of ghost We still don't have enough data and we haven't really seen what's to come. if ghost had been around 25 years it would have been different. but opus was released in 2010, meaning we only have so many shows and so little music to make an educated guess. so perhaps this is a discussion really meant to take place in another 10-11 years

The new live album RITE HERE, RIGHT NOW would be a great jumping off point. It's basically the ALIVE II release for them. If you are just diving into songs, I would definitely recommend, "Square Hammer", "Rats", "Faith", "Spillways", "Cirice", "Dance Macabre" has a great roller rink vibe to it. Enjoy. I would recommend Meliora and Prequelle to get a dive into heavier elements then the more melodic rock. Those two albums were the transition point for Ghost into more accessible music But unlike Kiss, that shift has not hurt Ghost - and has only made them bigger than ever.
Yes definitely start with Meliora to Prequelle, jump back to Infestisumum, 2nd album and whichever way you choose from there
