  • All coach education materials currently include coverage of the three metabolic energy systems - 1) ATP-CP, 2) Lactate and 3) Aerobic systems. Now, we are clearly identifying the role that the whole-body kinetic chain has in providing Biokinetic Energy - now recognised as "the fourth energy system". Some athletes have naturally high levels of biokinetic energy production and others, much less so. But all athletes, whether naturally high or low, can improve their biokinetic energy contribution, dramatically improving performance.
This webinar will introduce, in simple terms, what Biokinetic Energy is, discuss why you should be aware of it and, most importantly, present what you can do as a coach or athlete to improve it.
Peter has held roles with the IAAF (now World Athletics), as Event Group Leader for Endurance, and the European Athletics Coach Association as European Endurance Leader. Since 1978, Peter has concentrated on the middle and long distance events with his athletes setting six world records. He formally defined the ‘New Interval Training’ method in 1995, after innovating, developing and using the method from 1975.
More recently he has identified, defined and developed the terms ‘Biokinetics’ and ‘The Fourth Energy System’, which is one of the concepts that underpin Athletics Ireland’s training philosophy for physical preparation.
