What no, he just acts like an asshole to everyone that’s not his family, which is why he was originally an asshole to the Gallagher’s but then slowly warmed up to them as him and Ian grew closer.
yea he was an amazing actor throughout the whole show. Unlike characters such as Ian who changed towards the end of the show (primarily season 11 imo - although i still love Ian), Noel Fisher kept the essence that was Mickey and elevated his character as a whole. I really miss Micky T_T
Holy sh** i just realized. The writers brought Mickey not killing Frank full circle. In the end Rachel explains how she didn’t marry Terry because he killed her father. If Mickey had done the same Ian wouldn’t have wanted to be with him. Mickey’s character is fundamentally different than Terry’s, from the very beginning 🤯
Micky is different from Terry for sure. However, I think Ian is different from Rachel too. In the same scene Ian told Rachel that since her father was out of the way, she could have married Terry, making Rachel her husband and Michy looked at him weird. And when Ian warned Franck about Micky wanted to kill him, Ian's only worry was that he did not want Michy to go to juvi. So despite the years, it seems that Ian would still have be ok with Michy killing Franck. Not sure how it would have played out with the other siblings allowing him to continue the relationship, or even Michy wanting Ian in his life after what he did, but it seems that it would not have been a reason for breakup to Ian.
This kiss had more to do with the fact that Noel wouldn't kiss Cam while he was underage. It played perfectly into thier character/relationship developement. If you watched the british version Mickey isn't an important chatacter so I feel Noel's choices and acting is what made the character so great.
I love them so much, Mickey is my favorite character, his foul mouth is what gets me through the day. Also, Groomzilla is so accurate, I was literally like, wow, for someone who had no interest in his first wedding, for him to get so worked up is not only adorable, but says a lot about who he is as a person.
The first marriage was forced he never even liked Lana. HE LOVES IAN. But more importantly what i got from is Groomzilla explosion at the florist was that he never cared about nothing that happened in any given day before loving Ian of course and since then as long as he has him on a bed comfortable or on dirty fighting in the streets but now he's getting married to the man he loves and has done everything for so he at least want that "ONE DAY" to be special. Yes i definitely love his foul mouth.
Another huge reason why i think people love Mick is because he's hilarious. He has some of the best lines in the show, and his sarcasm and sass only grew with each season.
Mickey has the craziest character development. Like it may be the best one I've ever seen on tv. Not to be dramatic or shit but like the way he changes and it's still his character is so amazing. They literally wrote S1 Mickey and let him develop into a better version of Mickey over the seasons without changing him completely, and that is so fucking rare. His character is amazing ngl.
I think that is why some people don't like s10-11 Mickey. They don't realize that he is still him. He spent years in prison and then with a Mexican cartel. His change was in self acceptance, standing up to his Father and loving and supporting Ian. He's still going to be socially pretty rough around the edges.
@@mlgZipp i think where Noel kept the essence that was Mickey when going into s10-11, Cameron didnt portray Ian as the boy we loved, regardless of his issues in these seasons.
Mickey is easy to love because despite his horrific upbringing he still managed to become a mature, loving, loyal, intelligent person who doesn't wallow in self pity and blame everyone else for his problems..and he has stuck by Ian through everything even if he didn't always deserve it..
I mean, for me in 4-5th seasons Mikey acted like that(did everything fo Ian,even coming out) because he was scared to lose Ian.( Again). But for Ian that just was different. He thought that Mikey had changed his opinion about relationships and acted different because of his disease.(or at least thought this way after conversation with Monica). That's why he decided broke up with Mik.
Right on point Monica was the poison after that i was ready for her to make a permanent departure! Especially because Ian felt a sense of connection to her because they both have the same diagnosis. But she is a fool with and without the disease shouldn't be advising no one. Because Mickey is the best thing to every happen to Ian and vise-versa advice against that you're a dam fool.
I think Ian loves Mickey just as much as Mickey loves Ian. He doesn’t want Mickey to be with someone that has Bipolar disease, constantly waiting around and taking care of him. He wants Mickey to have a full life. Ian has self esteem issues when it comes to his mental health. All he wants is for Mickey to be happy. But then Mickey is only happy with Ian. And when they finally understood each other’s concerns and goes past it. Marriage!
I have never seen the show and I only recently came across all the vids on UA-cam about Ian and Mickey. These actors are phenomenal! I absolutely came away from the vids convinced that these characters are crazy in love with one another. It's heartwarming and it's beautiful. Well done!
Carl might be tied with Ian as my second favorite. I love Ethan as Carl. There were moments both funny and profound with that kid, and watching him find his place in his community was as good as watching Mickey grow up.
he's a shit parent and a shit person, he does love his kids though but he's so addicted to alcohol. there was an episode where he talks about letting something go ( the mum of the kid whose liver he got) and looks at booze..it really hit me. he's a really awful alcoholic
Damn this is amazing! Mickey is the kind of guy who everyone admires. He is tough, both mentally and physically. He doesn’t give excuses, he doesn’t complain and he doesn’t leave you when shit hits the fan. We get to see someone who changed himself because of love in a violently homophobic world. All because someone gave him the love he didn’t think he could get.
Noel Fisher makes Mickey. He should have won awards! His facial expressions, his use of voice and his chemistry with Cameron (Ian) and not being afraid to play it…
It's hilarious how many Gallavich relationships that we had. First was obviously Mickey and Ian, then Lip and Mandy, then it was Debbie and that one Milkovich I forget the name of. Three different relationships throughout the series.
@@19sunheart96 he was horrible to her. Alot of it because Fiona was in his ear. She's not a keeper. Be out in a week. For him, she was nothing more than a rebound. Sadly, she loved like the Milkoviches do. F**ken Gallagher's caused our beautiful Milkoviches so much pain.
i would love to see season 11 mickey added to this analysis. we learn even more about him and his childhood!! so so good. i know people had their issues with s10-11 but i was too busy with relief over the return of gallavich😌😌😌
Except for the stupid job interview (which I forget) I liked S11 Mickey and thought it not too ooc. Gallavich was 6 months into their marriage. When the work begins. Mickey had barely earned a legal $ in his life and he knew that Ian didn't want him to do anything illegal. He felt comfortable and safe with Ian and a family. But he lacked direction. Jerome gave him a push, just like Mandy in s4. I wish that we could have seen Ian wake him up at some point, to see if he still woke ready for a fight. The Terry stuff was golden healing. Mickey's reaction to moving was understandable but Ian realizing that he needed to consider him was what Mickey needed to be all in.
The "problem" with S10-11 for every character is that the tone abruptly changed from a dark comedy/drama feel to just straight up comedy/adult sitcom. Realism is out the window so the characters kinda just stagnate and became exaggerated versions. Like all the S10 stuff was very ridiculous, especially the Paula storyline. And in previous seasons tone the Ian/Mickey marriage drama probably would have been a lot darker. Not saying there isn't some dark moments, but most of it is just undercut by comedy. I still like last 2 seasons a lot especially compared to 7-9 which were just super dull.
The best shows are the ones with deepest family dynamics. It MAKES the story, explains the story, identifies with the audience. In "Shameless", it IS the story.
i think something important to note about mickey is the fact that he never does things for no reason. he always has a motive. no matter if it’s a good motive or not but he never does things out of the blue like some other characters do. every line, every action and every emotion he has is always backed by some sort of thought out motive or plan and when he does something intense and sudden, even that comes with a reason for example, when ian says “he used to punch me and insult me a bunch before we banged” as if mickey used to abuse him.... that’s incredibly not true and really hypocritical on ian’s side in every way..... think about it, mickey has never actually punched or insulted ian with no reason... ian has always been the one to either punch first or to provoke mickey into a fight. the only times we’ve ever seen mickey actually hit ian first is when ian is condescending or trying to get him to talk when he’s clearly emotionally confused and wants to be left alone... i’m pretty sure that ian is the one who actually insults mickey for no reason a lot more than he realized. overall, mickey in the first 5 seasons of the show was one of the only well established, amazingly articulated and well thought out characters that everyone fell in love with, having him removed from the show was the writers biggest mistake. i would even venture to say his characterization levels were on par with frank himself. they gave both men so much personality, focus, objective and it actually shows when you see frank and mickey interact at times. they are such well scripted and developed characters that their conversations just connect well. mickey truly deserves that spot as being so loved and valued and the show wouldn’t be nearly as good without him
Love this insight. I wish they had kept a Milkovich storyline post S5. I know that Noel left but that was lack of recognition of how important the character was and not paying the actor enough. Ian and Mickey didn't have to be together to keep a storyline (still endgame though of course). Without the Milkoviches, the story lost Southside. Which is what it was supposed to be all about.
Mikhailo continued to love Ian and accept himself even after everything he went through, impossible not to be moved by their story I fucking love him ❣️ Perfect video
I was definitely not expecting this video to be a fully fleshed-out essay about why Mickey is the best character, but I'm super okay with that. Wonderful vid!!
If you think about the initial Mickey appearance, he came to beat the people who had hurt the ones he loves (in this case he protected Mandy). That is not a good way of protecting but in the rest of the show, as soon as he develops feelings for Ian, he will protect him and chase anyone who will harm Ian, in the same way.
Ya I agree I think that everyone should be able to come out when they themselves are ready. No pressure, no nothing, just let it happen when it needs to happen
I think it was fair kinda because Ian was being made into a "mistress" (in Ian's words), so that Svetlana and Terry would be satisfied. Ian wanted to stop seeing Mickey due to being put in this position all the time, Svetlana and Terry had complete control over their relationship to the point Svetlana could kick Ian out of Mickey's own house or have him not see Ian altogether. Pretty much the only way for Mickey to stop them from doing this is to stand up to Terry, which he did by coming out in front of everyone.
what a subtle drama is involved in all the shamelessness, it's incredible, you really need to review this series at least three times to understand everything from cover to cover
Neither of them where bad for eachother, ian has done some bad shit to mickey, and mickey has done bas shit to ian. And they both have vailed reasons why they do these things to eachother.
Loving Ian definitely caused Mickey alot of pain both physically and emotionally. If we never saw Mickey again after S5, I would agree that Ian was bad for Mickey. The Milkoviches sacrifice themselves for their inner circle and this is what Mickey did. Ian forgot Mickey, or appeared to, as soon as he was out of sight. However since we made it to S11 they both saved each other. Ian saved Mickey from becoming Terry. Abusive, spending more of his life in jail than out. Mickey saved Ian from becoming Monica. Going from relationship to relationship. Medications getting out of balance and nobody noticing, until he stops taking them at all (season 8)
I love how you covered their relationship because you were very insightful and saw the details of their relationship that needed to be highlighted. Great job!
I think another reason he’s liked so much is that every shitty thing he’s gone has 1. never been against the main characters and/or 2. in service of one of the main characters, usually Ian but others too. You can’t say that about most of the main characters....
Mickey refusing to kill Frank is because Mickey isn't a murderer. Mickey tries so hard to live up to the standards he's learned from him father--delinquency, violence, toxic self assertion-- but when it comes to a crime you can't take back, murder, Mickey can't betray his true self anymore. He's not a murderer, and his fear for his own life is what made him consider murder in the first place. Once he realized that he wouldn't kill an innocent person to save his own hide, the only place he thought he was safe was incarceration. Mickey is one of the best natural people on the show, but his nurture almost turned him into an animal. His refusal to kill Frank is the first sign of his rebellion of the monster his father would have made him.
I love Mickey!! I love how he started out so bad and tough, and he completely let his guard down for Ian. I love how vulnerable he became with Ian. He has such a tenderness about him. I just love him.
Thank you for this video. Here it is, the end of 2023, I'm 70 years and I just discovered this amazing show. It makes me so sad, though, that I could never have a relationship like these two, messy as it was. "Messy," doesn't begin to describe it, though, does it? I guess I would like to have had a relationship as (now I can't think of a word that fits) as these two. Anyway, thanks for posting. Subscribed.
So, I am rewatching all the old episodes from the begining and I am realizing that Frank is a horriable parent, but he LOVES his kids and has connected with all of them at some point. Please do one on Frank ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Interestingly, he has connected at least once with all of his kids but Ian. Ian was Monica's and very like Monica from the very beginning. I don't see Ian as having the same family connection or loyalty as the other siblings and I wonder if that comes in part, from his lack of a relationship with Frank. We learn that Frank wasn't his biological father but the relationship wasn't there even before that. Also, chances are that Frank would have forgotten about that pretty soon after he found out. Ian very much was Monica and Mickey saved him from becoming more Monica. Ian appeared to very easily let go of Mickey twice (who was supposed to be family) as soon as he was out of sight. If we saw Ian and Mickey as parents it wouldn't be Mickey's loyalty to the family unit in question but Ian's.
Probably the most misunderstood character ever. Mickey is an asshole out of necessity and circumstances, but also has a huge heart and unwavering loyalty to those who deserve it.
Mikaela Broten yeah I thought about the platform I wanted to use and decided that I genuinely loved this channel more. Thank you so much for supporting me!!
The whole love=violence thing is totally this. But Mickey wasn't going to beat up Ian he was going to kill him declaring him as a "deadman." Since he grew up watching his father sexually abuse his sister he would be sensitive to that topic especially when it involves his sister. It should be noted that every time Terry would assault Mandy, Terry is "mysteriously" sent back to prison for parole violations. One thing I was curious about even after Mickey's character development when someone tries to wake him up his initial reaction is to fight abd defend always thought that was odd.
Interestingly Terry raped Mandy when Mickey was in Juvie. I really feel as though it wouldn't have happened if Mickey was there or knew. Or as you suggest, afterwards something was done to send him back to prison. I doubt that she told him. Ian either. In s3 when Terry caught them, Mickey didn't hesitate to jump on Terry to protect Ian. I think that he would have done the same for Mandy. There was a deleted scene where he had fought with Mandy's boyfriend after he hit her. He would do anything to protect those he loved. His jump when woken is the saddest thing. Sure sign of abuse. First instinct, self defense.
I only ever watched Ian and Mickey's story on Shameless- seriously, I would skip complete scenes that didn't fiture them. I can't tell you anything about Fiona or many other characters, but I know plenty about Ian and Mickey. In fact, after Mickey left the show I didn't even bother - they are only strong together. Maybe the best gay couple on tv. (season 10 was the only one I watches through)
Never thought I'd see the day where I call mickey my favorite shameless character. Especially when he was a bridezilla! I'm a forver fan now. Plan to rewatch just for him lol
just by ian being in mickey's life, he taught him a lot and i feel like in a lot of ways he wouldn't have changed without ian showing him and guiding him as well as always being patient knowing the way mickey is and how he deals with things and was raised.

I love Mickey because he overcame hate. He's so complicated and delicious. I spend far too much time watching their love, they were meant for each other like no other pair I've experienced.
I would like to see this with Fiona because she gets so much hate from the fans but also gets so much love because she did a great job by rasing 5 children. I don't think she the desurves the hate but I understand the points so I would Love to see you talk about her.

What no, he just acts like an asshole to everyone that’s not his family, which is why he was originally an asshole to the Gallagher’s but then slowly warmed up to them as him and Ian grew closer.
Literally we have no choice but to Stan 😌
I agree
But for real!
I be stanning Micky from UK aswell
I feel like Noel Fisher ( Mickey milkovich) Acted the best out of all of the characters. He really put his heart into the acting. He’s a good actor :)
His acting is perfection, it feels very authentic. The emotions come pouring out of him as if he really is Mickey Milkovich.
@@romdom9406 right? The role is literally perfect for him
yea he was an amazing actor throughout the whole show.
Thats so smart omfg
Shiii you rlly dove deep into this hah
That was a great catch in then story! Thabks for sharing!
Good connection catch 🤔
"...carve my initials into your gums, ya q-tip..."
Why did they say “Mickey Milkovich, aka Mickey Galla- BLURGH
cus mickey gallagher sounds gross his maiden name is better
julia uwu I agree
When they married they kept their last names too
@@rickw9291 remember when they said to each other good morning mr gallavich, morning millagher
@Haylee Nobles she said gallagher not gallavich
And ian is millagher hah
And...because no one loves like Mickey Milkovich. There is no end to the depth of his love for Ian Gallagher.
This is so in depth and true. It lists all the reasons i luv mickey
Mickey is easy to love because despite his horrific upbringing he still managed to become a mature, loving, loyal, intelligent person who doesn't wallow in self pity and blame everyone else for his problems..and he has stuck by Ian through everything even if he didn't always deserve it..
Micky is perfect husband material.
You can see how Mickey’s character has evolved from season 1 to season 10.
Well done!
You should watch it, believe me u won't regret it 🤠
@@flachatalexandra6224 thanks. I will most likely watch once I get caught up with the other shows I am binging. Appreciate the recommendation!
@@randeman you're welcome!
NOW GO AND WATCH IT
Mickey towards Mandy too, he loves her
Carl has a very interesting journey too! In some ways he reminds me of Mickey? I'd love to see a video about him
They are a lot alike, yeah
Carl is so underrated and has such an interesting story would love to see one on him :) this was great !!!
Carl might be tied with Ian as my second favorite. I love Ethan as Carl. There were moments both funny and profound with that kid, and watching him find his place in his community was as good as watching Mickey grow up.
My proposition - the Great Frank Gallagher himself. Why they/we always forgive him?
i don't understand why I hate him but when he is nice to his kids it makes me emitonal. Especially in the wedding where he looked so proud
He actually does love his kids, he's just a shitty parent. He's brilliant
he's a shit parent and a shit person, he does love his kids though but he's so addicted to alcohol. there was an episode where he talks about letting something go ( the mum of the kid whose liver he got) and looks at booze..it really hit me. he's a really awful alcoholic
@@moonycries8472 yeah, basically when Lip was yelling at Fiona, no one bothered to say a word, and then when Lip left, Frank easily sit with them lol
Because we realize he's still human and a product of his own tramatic childhood.
HIS CHARACTER IMPROVES WITHOUT DRASTICALLY CHANGING!!! WHICH I LOVE
The literal evolution of Mickey from being scared of his father to being filled with so much love to stand against him for Ian is just beautiful
His facial expressions, his use of voice and his chemistry with Cameron (Ian) and not being afraid to play it…
those eyebrows of his could do all the talking
Mickey Malkovich has the most character development on the show period
It's hilarious how many Gallavich relationships that we had. First was obviously Mickey and Ian, then Lip and Mandy, then it was Debbie and that one Milkovich I forget the name of. Three different relationships throughout the series.
Toxin Entertainment her name is Sandy
I really liked Mandy and Lip. I was sad they didn't end up together
This is gonna be a really good series. I hope this video gets all the love it deserves
Squishy Piløts it’s not GONNA be a really good series, it IS a really good series.
Yes. This is exactly why I love Mickey. One of the best characters ever created. Brilliantly played by Noel Fisher.
i would love to see season 11 mickey added to this analysis. we learn even more about him and his childhood!! so so good. i know people had their issues with s10-11 but i was too busy with relief over the return of gallavich😌😌😌
There is not a time that Mickey groomzilla doesn't bring a smile to my face
Honestly mickey is my favorite cause our first intro to him is him protecting his sister and then the character growth it just ahhh 10/10
The best shows are the ones with deepest family dynamics. It MAKES the story, explains the story, identifies with the audience. In "Shameless", it IS the story.
i think something important to note about mickey is the fact that he never does things for no reason. he always has a motive. no matter if it’s a good motive or not but he never does things out of the blue like some other characters do. every line, every action and every emotion he has is always backed by some sort of thought out motive or plan and when he does something intense and sudden, even that comes with a reason
for example, when ian says “he used to punch me and insult me a bunch before we banged” as if mickey used to abuse him.... that’s incredibly not true and really hypocritical on ian’s side in every way.....
think about it, mickey has never actually punched or insulted ian with no reason... ian has always been the one to either punch first or to provoke mickey into a fight. the only times we’ve ever seen mickey actually hit ian first is when ian is condescending or trying to get him to talk when he’s clearly emotionally confused and wants to be left alone... i’m pretty sure that ian is the one who actually insults mickey for no reason a lot more than he realized.
overall, mickey in the first 5 seasons of the show was one of the only well established, amazingly articulated and well thought out characters that everyone fell in love with, having him removed from the show was the writers biggest mistake. i would even venture to say his characterization levels were on par with frank himself. they gave both men so much personality, focus, objective and it actually shows when you see frank and mickey interact at times. they are such well scripted and developed characters that their conversations just connect well. mickey truly deserves that spot as being so loved and valued and the show wouldn’t be nearly as good without him
Love this insight.
This is why Trevor would never work. Mickhailo was there from DAY ONE. Bebe boyy
I was already read all the articles just over the last month
This video feels like a good timing 👌
It was a very good job
There ain't no better man than him
This is great! You should definitely do Mandy as she and Mickey have a very similar way to show love
You already did the best character and development on the show. So you job is done. Thanks
Sardo Numspa just gave my resignation letter!
I second that
mickey straight up puts me in tears every time he comes on screen. idk man. noel fisher really did something to me.
genuinely the best analysis ever
julia uwu now if only my English teacher could tell me that.....
Mikhailo continued to love Ian and accept himself even after everything he went through, impossible not to be moved by their story
I fucking love him ❣️
Perfect video
I was definitely not expecting this video to be a fully fleshed-out essay about why Mickey is the best character, but I'm super okay with that. Wonderful vid!!
Im just bummed she didn’t go into detail about the other seasons.
If you think about the initial Mickey appearance, he came to beat the people who had hurt the ones he loves (in this case he protected Mandy). That is not a good way of protecting but in the rest of the show, as soon as he develops feelings for Ian, he will protect him and chase anyone who will harm Ian, in the same way.
right like when terry caught them, we all know he is terrified of him but still jumped in on him to stop him from beating up ian.
He is such a lovely character. Noel Fisher does an amazing job. Thank you for the video!
mickey will forever be my favorite- idk what it is about mickey but everytime i see him on the show my face just lights up.
i feel like no one ever talks about it but ian pressured mickey into coming out and it made me so uncomfortable
kook’s ian literally I’m making my next analysis video and I was talking about Ian pressuring Mickey into coming out. So I gotchu 😉
He was very patient and gave him plenty of time. He loved Mickey but wanted to get on with his life without the need to hide.
mania
YES YES YES AND YES , THANK GOD SOMEBODY SAID IT!!
I think Carl is the best character and he developed a lot too. When he told Fiona he wanted out of the drug game was an extremely powerful scene.
Your voice is so calming to me idk why, also i love the vid 🙃
Charlotte Manning many do say my voice is soothing!
what a subtle drama is involved in all the shamelessness, it's incredible, you really need to review this series at least three times to understand everything from cover to cover
Thank you for the tears. Can you do one on Ian or Debbie. Everyone seems to hate Debbie and I dont know why
mickey is the BEST character on this show! i love mickey!!!
This is one of the best Mickey analysis he was my fav character, I was so happy when he reunited with Ian after not being mentioned in a season or so
How could anybody possibly say that Mickey was bad for Ian? If anything, it’s the other way around
You can’t say that about most of the main characters....
mickey’s character development will always be so special to me
as a character he’s genuinely so complex, i love him so much
Mickey refusing to kill Frank is because Mickey isn't a murderer.
Subscribed.
You’re nothing but a warm mouth to me was the harshest line Mickey said the whole series.
Mickey has had the BEST character development of any character on Shameless! The changes he’s made from S1 to now are amazing!
Mickey is a next Oscar award. It's outstanding.
I Love Mickey Milkovich ( and Ian ) and i adore gorgeous Noel Fisher ✌️
So, I am rewatching all the old episodes from the begining and I am realizing that Frank is a horriable parent, but he LOVES his kids and has connected with all of them at some point. Please do one on Frank ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Aaliyah Jean yeeeees
@@mlgZipp ur right
I hate when people say this 🙄 he didn’t love them at all
Probably the most misunderstood character ever. Mickey is an asshole out of necessity and circumstances, but also has a huge heart and unwavering loyalty to those who deserve it.
1:50 Liam, Dababy caught me so off guard i cant even deal rn LMAOOOO
Poor Mickey, he was so scared of Frank telling something while Frank couldn't care less
Mickey and Carl are by far the best characters on this show. Greatest 2 examples of character development from season 1-10 all around.
omg i saw this video on ur other channel i assume ahaha anyways keep up the great series
Mikaela Broten yeah I thought about the platform I wanted to use and decided that I genuinely loved this channel more. Thank you so much for supporting me!!
Gallavich Queen awww ❤️
Thanks for the vid❤, I love how you edit them and are unabashed about the content.
Mickey deserves the whole fucking world man ;_;
I only ever watched Ian and Mickey's story on Shameless- seriously, I would skip complete scenes that didn't fiture them.
