I would leave a little more stem on Hoyas instead of cutting directly below a node. They root from their whole stem, sometimes u can see the aerial roots already :)
Ashley I went plant shopping at Lowe's on March 1. They had a section of plants reduced to $1.00 !!! I got a 18" pink Ti plant and a 12" palm tree (base like pineapple) and a neon & green corn plant dracaena. They didn't have the philodendron Brazil I went to get. The next day I went back to Lowe's to get another Ti plant. Gone. I got a 5' palm tree for $1. (the last one) and another dark green corn plant. What a haul !!! So girls... check out your Lowe's & maybe you will get lucky too. $70 worth of plants for $5. Not bad!
Hello Ashley, just letting you know that you have inspired me to go and buy indoor plants. Thank you for sharing all your videos here. And now I am obsessed lol 😂 I now have 30 plants in just two weeks. 🙈🤣
With your verrucosum prop, just keep a close eye on it, as i recently saw someone explain to not prop the very tip node as it is too new and fresh, so will be very prone to rot. Not that it cant be done. They also advised that peru's work better with 2 nodes rather than one 🤷♀️. Wld love to see update videos on these props, as I'm still learning and this will be a good experiment to know the outcomes 😊
Just an idea. But on those bigger boxes that you where looking at, you can always use plastic wrap for a lid. It also works well if you have old storage containers to use.
Hi Ashley, I'm envious of your Campo. I have a tiny one I was given a few weeks ago that had two leaves, and now it's working on putting out it's third leaf. I can't wait to see a big long vine. I bought the same moss on Amazon and it definitely goes a long way. I feel like I've used quite a bit of it and the bag is still almost full. I think it's a really good value for the money. Nice job on the propagation boxes. Looking forward to seeing all the new roots. 👌
Lol... anyone like me thinking... she's nuts!! Cutting those plants that only have like 2 or 3 leaves... lol I couldn't do it!! Your much braver than i am!!!
Hi Ashley I usually soak my moss in liquid dirt and super thrive so the it helps root quicker and to help with shock from cutting!! Maybe you can try it next time you prop. You will have roots in no time!!😊
This video is my favorite yet! I’m just getting into Hoya’s and showing how to propagate them was SUPER helpful. Thank you so much!!! Your videos are the best 😌🌱💚🪴
Well I just got through buying some plants so I was putting mine in different pots and messing with the potting soil on taking some of my plans and I'm putting them in other things
@@LifewithAshleyAnita My dear dear greetings, I wish you lasting success and happiness in this world and the hereafter, and that your aspirations will come true.🌼🌼🌼🌼🌻🌻🌻🌻
Other really fun plants to propagate are peperomias. I have a napoli nights peperomia that is thriving, and I've made so many propagations from it, and it's still super full and I have like a dozen pots of baby peperomias 😅
Well were done lol. Pike nurseries were cool. Malones unfortunately wasn't as good as we hoped it would be. We finished off our journey at LKN in Mooresville . It was pretty good. I would suggest to try it out.
Hi Ashley. I love how relaxing your video’s are plus they are so informative and interesting. I have been hesitant to do a propagation box with Sphagnum moss
I don't have any propagation tips because I've only propagated Pothos and Wandering Jew. Two of the easiest plants to propagate! I've got several succulent leaves making babies too. I'm curious to know: do you have plants around your home just for decoration then the plants in your plant room are for working with? I'm looking around at my plants and since the majority are in my main living area, (I live in a small 2 bedroom apartment), I just don't see any I can chop up - I like them looking big and full! Anyway, I hope you have a great weekend, Ashley!
What would be the advantage of using moss like this over just putting cuttings in straight water? I have always propagated the majority of my plants with water with no problem. I’m curious what the advantages would be to the method that you show here. Other than the fact that it looks pretty! Thank you for sharing all of your tips and tricks!
I’ve switched all my prop boxes over from sphagnum to perlite with even better results. I’m interested to see if the verrucosum cuttings grows, I air layer mine.
Ashley thanks so much for this video, so informative! I do have a question about the grow lights... do you leave them on 24/7, or do you turn them on and off?
Hey , we will be in the Charlotte area today, Sunday 2/28 . My wife would love to meet you if you are out and about. Going to pikes north of Charlotte first be there 11 ish then malones afterwards.
Nooooo the verrucosum tip cutting!! Lol that thing is going to rot in 3 days, tip cuttings are too green to root especially if the leaf hasnt even unfurled yet.
@@LifewithAshleyAnita I have two monstera that I came across in a grocery store , ( you know how that goes) they must have not known what it is because it’s priced good , anyways they look rootbound , but I’m not sure and I want to repot them but don’t know if it’s too soon , they have tons of new growth though ! Also my zz raven when I purchased it , the bulbs were showing , should I repot them? Ahhh stressed plant mamma over here

Try using boiling water to moisten the moss!! not only is it going to disinfect the moss, the steam and warmth makes the moss super fluffy 🥰🪴✨

I'm digging this House-esk motorcycle jacket outfit today! Super cute! Thanks for the great tip on where to get prop boxes!
Thanks Hollie!
Hello from Germany. I have 360 days a year a propagation box in action. Everything is working fine without taking care. 😉👍
That is awesome!
FYI Sometimes propagations do better, like your Campos to stick straight up an down. Love propagation an can’t wait for the updates! 😃💚
Thanks Sherry
I like to buy taller containers, I have anthirium chuncks that grow tall and I think it has better air quality
Definitely! Unfortunately, they had to fit in my plant shelves. I will probably go a bit taller next time

LOL I thought that too!! I made a comment about not wanting to chop any of mine up! I love watching other people propagate tho!!
It sometimes takes guts to cut your plants !
@@daynaowen6250 I know what you mean but sometimes the chopping helps the plants grow fuller.
Pruning most plants encourages growth! You'd be very surprised. 😊💚🎉
Love your channel im a crazy plant lover too been into plants for 5 yrs but it grew like for 3 yrs

Yes, the propagations - am planning to do as well 🙂
Thanks Ashley for sharing!!

Love the prop boxes! Propagation is so much fun. I’ve just started and have 4 going 🌿🌿🌿
Good luck!!
thank you, I just ordered via your link the Sphagnum Moss, thank you for the suggestion!
Awesome! Thank you!
I have zero patience for propagating... Cudos to you and those that do so I can get my plant on 💛 🌱

I've thought about doing that. I may have to give it a go!
I've just recently heard that phrase "air layering". I need to learn about it!! Maybe Ashley will do a video about it!!
I'm very envious, I don't seem to have luck propagating. Looking forward to seeing how they do.
Try perlite propogation it does wonders... put nodes in perlite add distilled water, keep adding water wen perlite feels dry.

Thanks! I hope so too!
Prop Boxes are my fave at the moment! New Sub from WA :)
please try to use leca instead of moss next time.. you re gonna love it
Excited for this video made my day Yay 💜💜
Thank you Angela!
I add some cinnamon powder to the ends of my cuttings, that prevent any sickness😉
Um the verrucosum node isn't mature I've propagated them in masses since I work at a nursery and the just need a mature node
Nooooo the verrucosum tip cutting!! Lol that thing is going to rot in 3 days, tip cuttings are too green to root especially if the leaf hasnt even unfurled yet.
Was just thinking the same thing 😭
I yelled "no!" into the void when she did it
Waiting for updates
That was fun
Thanks for watching!
Where did you get your shelves?
How long before I should see roots? I started a box a couple weeks ago.
3 weeks.
How often do you need to water this size box?
I use a spray bottle to rehydrate when they start to dry out. I don't have to do that often though.
So I just set up a couple boxes yesterday and they already smell like a wet towel forgotten in a plastic bag for days. Is that normal?
I would recommend letting the moss dry out a bit more, just leave the lid open for a bit. It may be too wet
Where is the update for these propagations???

The verrucosum cutting was soooooo painful!
Very crazy for plants 🌱
Very!

OMG I love propagating but every cut I make I scream a little.i mean we pay so much for these babies and I don't want to hurt their chance to thrive.
You are so brave to cut your hoya's.
😂
Is this an american this, carpet in plant rooms? I'm shooketh. Other then that, I love moss prop boxes 😍
