Awesome yeah the replica reindeer leather is really nice. It’s vegetable tannage makes it a bit more unique than the comparable from other tanneries. At least from what I’ve seen or had so far

I have heard that this individual 'Lee' outsources many aspects of the production of his RTW lines to outworkers in Vietnam and also that he uses a Blake stitched waist on some of his shoes, whilst claiming on his website that all his shoes are "Made in Japan"., and not mentioning a Blake construction (unless I have missed it). Can you kindly confirm these accusations, as this could represent a repetitional risk for Mr 'Lee'?
I can’t really speak on behalf of the shoemaker, I’m just a client from that perspective. But from everything I’ve seen, and as evident by his work, he makes the shoes and they’re welted. I also don’t believe I’ve seen any actual production of rtw shoes, other than the fact that they’re offered. Lee is his first name, Not a persona.
@@Shellvedge This individual has been presented to the shoe community as someone who produces extremely high end shoes in Japan, with finishing akin to a Japanese master (I believe that Mr Lee is Vietnamese but lives in Japan), for a very reasonable cost. But the emerging narrative is that Mr Lee outsources a considerable amount of the production to various outworkers in his native Vietnam whilst still claiming on his website that his shoes are 'Made in Japan'. Whilst I don't have a problem with buying shoes that are made by different folks from around the world; I do have a problem with lying, deception, and fraud. There is then the issue about the Blake stitched waist, which I have also heard about, but who knows, that could be BS. Ultimately, Mr Lee has a lot of questions to address and has not been forthcoming with many answers.
@@grahammorgan1 I’ll be honest, I’ve been around since he first started making shoes and have never heard this stuff. I think it’s important to differentiate a pending narrative from a group of folks online vs what the hard facts show from people that have the shoes. I see this as a trending issue where there are a lot of accusations thrown around at a variety of makers. On the topic, I don’t necessarily think it’s up to the maker to dispel every rumor or unfounded accusation when there is no basis for said claim. IMHO, when I’ve seen this stirred up in the past, it’s been from some underlying negative opinion a few folks have about someone or something, and it has nothing to do with the actual shoemaking.
@Graham Morgan From my personal relationship with Lee, he has started and been a one-man shop - in layman's term he's been making everything all by himself with no-one else helping. He's also base in Japan. His shoes are made in Japan, handmade, hand lasted, hand welted, all by himself. I hope this has been easily understandable. It is very easy to prevent of these false accusations - at the source of the accusations. Would you be kindly to point to the source of this "stupid and arrogant" (yes, that's an understatement) accusation? At this point, too many have been spreading and inquiring about such information that I don't even consider this false accusation a joke or ignorant claim any more. This kind of claim is demeaning AND defaming an honest passionate bespoke shoemaker.
