As a dad myself who grew up in the heyday of the genre, a more accurate title would be “this is a RETURN to your dad’s metalcore”, or “This is not your zoomer lil bro’s metalcore.”

I've been on AOTY and I can say this is both your dad and zoomer lil bro's metalcore. In fact, Knocked Loose is zoomer's most favorite metalcore band. Along with this underground metalcore band called fallingwithscissors that sounds like Converge mixed with breakcore elements. Zoomers are crazy.
But this is definitely not your millennial big bro's metalcore, bc he'll be into generic Djent Alt Metal type beat.

I was not a fan of this band for a while, but when they released "A Tear in the Fabric of Life," they finally grabbed my attention. That EP was so dark and menacing, while still being pretty creative. Then the singles started dropping for this record, and I have loved every single one. "Suffocate" is an unreal track. I'm really excited to hear the album tomorrow.
Side note: This band is approaching 2 million Spotify listeners! That's pretty insane for how brutal they are.

I never understood that. Brian literally said in an interview that nonmatter what they aren't changing their style and they want to see how big they can get being as brutal as possible. I hope they get big ad fuck. Great for the metal community as a whole

Saw kaonashi open for from autumn to ashes in December and my brother and I Saud he sounded like judge doom getting rolled over by the roller or when he was melting. Awful vocals especially live

Been steadily easing my way into Knocked Loose starting with a couple of the singles from this album. I'm liking what I've heard so far!
Granted, I completely understand what you mean by the sound being overwhelming at times, I think I even had a minor headache for a bit after listening to them...but I think I'll pick the album up when I can 👍🏻

Cant remember an album that has bludgeoned my brain so much.... but i keep going back. The pit at the Slipknot show should be insane. Liking the album a lot more than i expected to.
I'm new to this band having only started paying attention with the singles building up to this release. I preordered the vinyl after thay Poppy track dropped. Usually I dont venture in to Hardcore or Metalcore, but these tracks were so utterly pissed off that I had to give them some support

Knocked loose fans fall into 2 categorys,1, the ones who got into them because of the spongebob meme and because its trendy to like them and 2, the ones who straight up want to take your head off in the moshpit. Been to see hundreds of bands, Knocked loose has to be top 3 for the most brutal pits ive been in.
Been following them since pop culture.
Laugh tracks and this one are a return to form that they needed because I wasn't a fan of the other two albums.
Wishing them all the best. And glad to see metal fans getting into them more. I personally love his vocals in contrast to all the same lows and gutturals.
Getting into these guys before seeing em live with Slipknot, the poppy feature is easily one of my favorite hardcore songs I've personally ever heard
I'm looking forward quite a bit to listening to both this and Unleash The Archers tomorrow. The new singles have been a bit of an acquired taste for me lol, I remember viscerally hating the vocals combined with the MEGA LOUD mixing, and while those aspects have grown on me I'm still not sure if I would love the album all the way through due to those aspects. Regardless, the new songs are a lot of fun and I am expecting to have a good time with this tomorrow.
Looking forward to talking about Unleash The Archers & "Phantoma". I can already tell its going to be divisive tho...

Between this and the seeyouspacecowboy album, this is the most excited I've been about hardcore/metalcore in a long long time
Chompy just always has the most intricate and well-thought-out takes.
A very wise and gifted gator
One of my favorite things about this band is how much they piss off hard core purists and gatekeeper types. Crossover bands that hit big grow the general audience for metal and hardcore alike. Gotta love that. I'm all for a bigger tent for everyone.

Im going to be seeing knocked loose at knotfest. So i need to get on listening to this.
I'll be honest, I'm still a little limited in my scope when it comes to Metalcore/Hardcore, since while Metal Hammer magazine will cover them, sites like Metal Achieves categorically exclude them. So while Knocked Loose were not on my radar, I will absolutely give them a listen, as this sounds right up my alley! Cheers for the recommendation, mate :)

My Dad’s metalcore was The Dead Walk and it’s just as hard if not harder than KL. I love both by the way.
Strange to say I agree on the whole its so loud and noisy it gives me a headache and I'm ok with that. This album was kind of creepy at times and it made the intensity impact me so much more, especially with that album cover
The Drew Faulk criticism is so valid. I learned to get over it during the singles, but damn I miss Will Putney. He somehow got the beyond crushing low end they need with clarity and no clipping.
I'm so fucking excited to listen to the full release.

After finally giving it a listen I gotta say………. This is my favorite thing knocked Loose has done. would definitely be somewhere at the end of my year list possibly. 4/5. Justice for Hardcore SpongeBob.

Sorry chompy really threw me off anyways considereing Chris Barnes vocals are fried just for the fact that they are fried they good and also sorry about me talking about six feet under also hands down you should review like moths to flames the cycles of trying to cope next

I’ll give this band another try. They’re super talented but the vocals always did throw me off kinda like Periphery or most metalcore bands. But, like Periphery and metalcore bands, the talented isn’t up for debate so I’ll give them another shot

Honestly pretty stoked to see the kids excited about 'metalcore'/metallic hardcore given some of the stuff called "metalcore" these days, which is often neither particularly heavy metal nor hardcore, just boring djent riffs that sound like deconstructed nu-metal with some EDM & pop/R&B vocals bolted on.

It isn’t even metalcore. It’s beatdown hardcore. Metalcore had melodeath riffing, and usually cringe clean vocals with screams. This doesn’t.
the term metalcore is much broader than just melodic metalcore from the 2000s lol

I don't like this band at all ever since their first release and every release after that I check them out again and again to try to understand the hype and I can never get into them those vocals are just horrible and the fact that they have a super overrated with a cringey fanbase Is just idk not for me ig
