  • In 2023, my cameraman and I completed the adventure of a lifetime; 10 days in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and a 70 river-mile, 2 day float out. This was the most epic DIY adventure I have done to date. We traveled north, past the Arctic Circle to Prudhoe Bay Alaska. From there we chartered an air boat to take us as far as they could, to the foot of the Brooks Mountain Range in northern Alaska. We spent 9 days exploring, hiking, encountering wildlife such as wolves, moose, musk ox, grizzlies and Caribou. At the end of our time in the wilderness, we embarked on a packraft journey from the Brooks Range Mountains into the flat tundra lands of the Alaskan Arctic. The full film will release on this channel in fall 2024, but in the meantime, here is a mini-documentary on how and why we used packrafts on this adventure. They are an amazing tool that allows you to access places, most humans will never see or experience. I hope this will inspire you to go on your own adventure! Nice to see your honesty about the pre-trip nerves of an adventure hunt. Overcoming that pit in my stomach at the trailhead is what got me hooked!

Jon is the man! I was fortunate enough to have him film a hunt I was on. He is rock solid and just a great human. Thanks for posting this. I cannot wait to watch the film itself.

Great video. Did this last year also but was dropped off about 20 crow miles. Didn't see any caribou but everyday we ate ptarmigan and goose. Floated out on a Sea Eagle 420X myself, my wife and my Labrador with all the gear in one inflatable kayak. I own a couple of Alpacka Caribou packrafts but we used the Sea Eagle instead. Even though I didn't get a caribou it was an adventure that will be hard to beat.

Excellent video Hunter. A great thorough explanation and analysis of what a packraft can do for you and included some welcomed instructions and safety advice.
