Wow, mind blown, dark story with a very positive, hopeful and uplifting theme, in the darkest moments there is still hope and people willing to help. Keep up the great work.❤
One, amongst many, things that are sad about his story is that he was having therapy that wasn't enough to help. The point that the people who know you best are so important and also not to tell you what to do is, just listen, is invaluable. It may be known by those who have contemplated suicide that it's not always related to poor mental health conditions, but it's all too easy for those who haven't to keep an eye out for those on medication, have been sectioned, or are visibly struggling. I hope this show helps people look out for those on the other side of the coin, as Joe says, it's them that are at higher risk as they have no help.
I can relate to this episode a lot more than I wish I could. I contemplated taking my own life this year and just like Joe said, it was nothing to do with my mental health but was fuelled by an external event. I count myself incredibly lucky that I had the support of family, friends and two life saving charities to stop me from acting on my plan.
As one of the co-founders of The OLLIE Foundation, I have had the pleasure of walking & talking with Joe. Just incredible!
It was amazing to talk to him and I hope we can look into future projects to raise awareness!
