I'm so glad to see whole kits like these available! I just installed permanent Christmas lights on my house last year going the DIY route and it almost cost me as much as these Govee lights. Having the Govee quality and support makes this worth it for sure! As some of the comments on their site say, it would be nice if they sold the extension cables separately. If I used these for my house, I'd need about 30' of extension - which I could do with DIY, but maybe not possible with this kit. I've got some family and friends this would probably be great for though.
Thanks for sharing. I just measured for you. The power adapter + button/switch cable is approx 21 ft. And then another flat power extension cable is also included which is 12 ft. (There's your 33' extension for ya ;-)
@@AuthenTech Ah, ok. Distance to the first light for me could be as short as 3'. I've got a 12' front porch that I have lights on, then the 2nd story has another roof above that. So I need to go up the wall and the distance of the porch to start the next run. I'm sure there are some technical limitations to doing that though, like the 5v data wire doesn't cover that distance easily and should really have a booster in there to push it farther.

I will say this, once fully bonded, VHB (Very High Bond) tape will not come off. I used to work in industrial sales and sold 3M VHB tape. I talked to their reps and they said to never put it on anything you don't want to destroy. If you put it on a cabinet and later want to remove it, you would rip the cabinet off the wall before the tape let go. They gave me a sample and two of us grabbed it with Vise Grips and couldn't pull it apart. Think about this, some semi trailers are held together with 3M VHB tape. A lot of them don't use rivets anymore.
It definitely requires proper prep, which some people don't do. A lot of entertainment ride systems are build with VHB. To demonstrate the strength to a major theme park client I placed a 1" strip of VHB on some prepped aluminum, and slapped it on a steel building column. No one could pry that sucker off for years. You should make a video on how to connect the Govee permanent lights to the app. How to combine several sets and the different scenes that are available. Govee has so many devices on the app that it’s difficult trying to figure out what setting goes with what product. Thank you love the videos.
@AuthenTech It would be very helpful for some of us that live in very rural communities with limited internet service. Most devices require 2.5 GHz which is not an option with some of our systems. I need to know if I can get them to work any other way. 😬
3M tape? 3M Tape is good stuff, I know that for sure...but I'm seriously concerned about the longevity of using tape to hold these up more than a season or so. The constant exposure to the elements and temp changes I would think I'd eventually walk out of the house and see sections of this falling off the house. What are your thoughts on this?
Having worked with vhb outside before, it will probably happen but only after many years, I have things that are attached (fully exposed to weather) with VHB and they've been holding for 4 years. A lot of car manufacturers use VHB for badges and appliques too.
Yea I don't like that. I installed my Philips Hue outdoor lightstrips with brackets that came with it I screwed into that house. Obviously that's gonna stick forever until I get rid of my Hue strips. Those screw clips might help though assuming you can put actual screws through it.
3M 4298UV Adhesion Promoter will make the tape stick like you wouldn't believe. I've used in a body shop to attach emblems to fiberglass panels and had to remove them later for damage and it actually pulled the gel coat off with it down to the fiberglass underneath it had stuck that good
I’ve had the 3M command strips that aren’t VHB up for 3 years, and they are still going strong. I think if you install these under the soffit and not exposed, the VHB should last a long time.

Great video - well done. I have a bunch of Govee lights in my office. I love them, they're so easy to install and use. I REALLY like the idea of installing them permanently and being able to do all kinds of different lighting shows for various holidays or using them as regular lighting. Hey Ben, great video, I just purchased (2) boxes of 100feet because of your review, I need 170 feet of continuous lights to cover my house, My question as I could not find the answers in the instructions is, how to I install both power supplies for a continuous string of lights up to 170feet? I have a spot for both power supplies to be located inside the garage, then I will start the install with a single string of lights in one direction, I can not go in separate directions with 2 strings. Can you do a Video Walkthrough of how to program the lights. Govee website and support is not very good or hard to find and the desktop app doesn't even have the option yet. I want to be able to do the off season corner selection as an example that you showed in your video. I just got 2 of the 100 foot boxes. Programing them as a group seems more difficult.
I like that there's an option to set a scene for everyday (not holiday-specific) down-lighting, but is there a warm white setting or a color combo that comes close to warm white?

Very interesting. I have been considering this for my house, and was worried I'd have to do a bunch of DIY. I like the enclosed form as weatherproofing was a big concern of mine.
Did the total length you used end up being more than 150ft (9 strands)? Asking because I just got 200ft worth and I'm trying to sync them all to work together. I understand you can only have up to 9 strands per power box, but is there any way to sync more than one power box together?
What did you end up doing? Use 2 separate power? I know in the app you can control multiple products, but can you “sync” them? For instance, if you lined up all 200ft, can you have a moving sequence go through all of them? Or is each power box separate?

Hi and thanks for sharing, your home with the lights look Awesome! You mentioned the recommendation is to place the lights 5 - 10 cm away from the wall but it looks like you placed them much further than than (I like the way you have it better!) How far away from the wall did you place yours?
I second this question, my roof is weird and I cant place them 10 cm (3 inches) or so from the wall but like 11 inches, which seems to be about the distance in this video, and they don't look bad, so I'm hopeful it looks good.
To get the light wires to lay flat, unroll it all on your driveway in the sun for a good 30 min before install. The heat will make the wires more pliable.
Your video convinced me to get a second set of 100ft H705A permanent outdoor lights which are due to arrive in a few days. One thing about your install though is in order for the two 100ft strings to work together once grouped, do I need to install them in the same direction? For instance, does one string need to be control module/lights and then the second following it also be control module/lights, or does it matter if two strings are installed like lights/ control module then on the second following control module/lights? You didn't mention that in your video. Thanks
@@JonathanRootDWhen I installed them, they automatically set themselves as a basic group which doesn't sync. You have to create and add them to a same model group and then they sync perfectly. They also have to be installed in the same direction

I know it comes with another power adapter can can i connect where i left off and connect the adapter at the end? Or does it have to be separate yours look like they are all connected together thank you so much
Can these be effectively connected to a smart switch, i.e., when the power supply at the outlet is turned "off" and later "on," will the controller return to the last illumination setting? Thanks. Well done video...

Govee says you have to power each strand of lights separately. Powering each 30 foot strand would be crazy with very long extension cords necessary. That means extension cords everywhere. Too bad. I really like these.
When you installed them did run power supplies from same outlet or two different outlets. I was wondering if you could run them both ways and meet in the middle on the other side of the house . I’m going around my house the same way you did yours. Thanks
You said 5 inch away from wall but I see around 18 inch away from wall in your installation, I have same distance at my home and so confuse if it looks better or not..
My front of the house is only 46ft can I cut the line? I also read reviews to start at the power source and work out to the end of the run and cut off the excess from the end? Thanks for the video!
I'll be installing 170' of the Govee lights (w/ 2 power supplies)...Are you able to tie the multiple power supplies together so that light programming is in one continuous loop?
Hello, I just bought a few 100ft boxes of Govee permanent lights. How many sets can you join together? How many sets did you combine for your house? Any help would be great. Thank you
I find is hilarious all the socialmedia ads promoting a product thats been out of stock for months with no return to market date... yet they still use this product to promote the Govee brand. its the equivalent of click-baiting, we don't have the great product we're showing... but here's some of our other great products that don't do what this does.
I have a question myself I too use the white security at the corners and above windows and doors. For some reason they’re doing the Breathe effect. Is there a way light steady?
What if you need 250’? There is a kit that is 150’ and one that is 100’. The kit with 150’ in it has what looks like two power supplies. Do these lights work together in the app for seamless control or do the individual strings end up out of sync? Can I go 250’ on one power supply?
Great Video!! Question. On the app I have gone under advance, and I want do that spotlight feature. At corners of my house. My problem is I select the lights that I want on, but above it in that section has an effects it's either doing clockwise cycle, twinkie. How do I turn off the effects so the light just turns up stays on.
I have a 3 skip light set up the lights that I have got turned off will flash on for a second every minute or so. What could or would be causing this to happen?
Hello, since you installed 2 controllers. Do they both work with the app? Also, since there is 2 controllers to all the lights work together simultaneously? Thanks

@@JonathanRootDWhen I installed them, they automatically set themselves as a basic group which doesn't sync. You have to create and add them to a same model group and then they sync perfectly. They also have to be installed in the same direction
I have a question so i bought 150ft but how can i add the last 100ft and sync everything together? I know it comes with another power adapter can can i connect where i left off and connect the adapter at the end? Or does it have to be separate yours look like they are all connected together thank you so much
wow! splendid moment. So to decorate such RGB in my future wedding😊
We need this in the UK!! Please Govee!!
This is really cool. Thanks for the video. A couple years ago, I went a different route with another brand.
Can these be effectively connected to a smart switch, i.e., when the power supply at the outlet is turned "off" and later "on," will the controller return to the last illumination setting? Thanks. Well done video...
Great stuff! Govee makes excellent products!
I'm very impressed with their app and functionality. I can see them passing up Hue or Lifx in the future possibly
@@AuthenTech I currently have the Govee outdoor lights across my back patio. My wife loves them! I'll purchase these when available. Keep up the great work!
@@afpitbull60 Sweet, thanks!
Are they still going good ? What are the temperatures you are or will be dealing with in the coming days ? are these great for the canadian winters ?
I just received mine today, open the box and playing with them, and am I to believe the only way you can play with the scenes and create your own scenes colors individual lights Ect is to order the premium service. None of the scenes seem to work.keeps bring the sub huddle page ?
You went over everything I wanted to know
Govee says you have to power each strand of lights separately. Powering each 30 foot strand would be crazy with very long extension cords necessary. That means extension cords everywhere. Too bad. I really like these.
Lol thats not the case at all man
lol what? I just installed these, 1 power source for 150 feet, 9 segments. I have 3 power source all around my house
If you leave lights out in sun for an hour or 2 stretched out will help cord be more pliable
Changes of VHB coming off is pretty minimal unless you force it off.
Looks nice. But you can never find them available. Looking into other options from different manufacturers
Cool video I ❤️ Govee products especially these FYI the app has dark mode 🤷🏼♂️✌🏻
They are guaranteed 'HOA Compliant'!
Great video. Can you cut strings shorter in case you dont need the extra length? Thanks
No. But each strand is about 17ft, three per 50ft. You could just drop strands as needed.
Looks like you mounted these on the bottom of your fascia? Looking to do the same considering I don't have sofit.
Hey Bro! Loved the review, I was just searching these and was glad you reviewed them! Totally gotta get these!
Thanks Doug!
Interesting, can you turn off parts of the strip? For example can you just turn on that back where you have your grill?
Yes
When do they come back in stock ?
How easy could you remove these lights? I am worried that the 3M removal could remove paint from metal?
You don't no how long they will last. Are they like the ones on my tv.
Energy cost is really high in California where the price hike is uncontrolled.
Nice! Now i just need a house!
I hope the shipping fees aint that expensive
My front of the house is only 46ft can I cut the line? I also read reviews to start at the power source and work out to the end of the run and cut off the excess from the end? Thanks for the video!
Sorry I’m sure if cutting the line breaks it
I'll be installing 170' of the Govee lights (w/ 2 power supplies)...Are you able to tie the multiple power supplies together so that light programming is in one continuous loop?
Sold out everywhere. 😩
Haha I saw that! Very unfortunate 🤦♂️ I heard they are coming back in stock in 2-3 weeks
@@AuthenTech they were back in stock at 10pm est today, just bought the 100ft stand!!
They were gone within minutes. Didn’t get a chance to get them.
A system that isn’t installed in aluminum track won’t last long and looks trashy during the day anyway.
Took a week for them to be no longer available on Amazon :(
Hello, I just bought a few 100ft boxes of Govee permanent lights. How many sets can you join together? How many sets did you combine for your house? Any help would be great. Thank you
150 ft per power box
Where did you find them? For how much?
@@alanestrada5938 they are sold out but Govee website and Amazon. Keep checking they should be available soon.
Wow great point of view. I have a drone as well will definitely try this angle once I install. I might not do full house :D. Great review
I find is hilarious all the socialmedia ads promoting a product thats been out of stock for months with no return to market date... yet they still use this product to promote the Govee brand. its the equivalent of click-baiting, we don't have the great product we're showing... but here's some of our other great products that don't do what this does.
I got a quote from a trim light dealer for $4600 to do 190 feet entire house, using tracks. But I’d rather save money and try this
Hi, where can I purchase these lights?
As of today the 50' and 100' are unavailable through links in comments.
I used 1 clip per light, I was concerned that the 3m tape won't hold up over winter and summer.
I have a question myself I too use the white security at the corners and above windows and doors. For some reason they’re doing the Breathe effect. Is there a way light steady?
Can you cut/splice these lights to have breaks? Like outline a window or second story, and then splice in a blank wire back tk more lights
I'm guessing nay
This is my same question!
With 2 different runs of lights where you able to sync both control boxes together? Or is each run independent of the other
How hard was it to do the top part of the house? Does it have to be on separate box or same one?
So I see that the video is about 5 months. How have they been working for you so far?
Can they be spliced? How do you jump from one gap to another like say a window to lower roof?
does it flicker when shooting with 120fps and above?
What if you need 250’? There is a kit that is 150’ and one that is 100’. The kit with 150’ in it has what looks like two power supplies. Do these lights work together in the app for seamless control or do the individual strings end up out of sync? Can I go 250’ on one power supply?
How many could you connect together? How many strands?
Great Video!! Question. On the app I have gone under advance, and I want do that spotlight feature. At corners of my house. My problem is I select the lights that I want on, but above it in that section has an effects it's either doing clockwise cycle, twinkie. How do I turn off the effects so the light just turns up stays on.
They're sold out? Are these better than novostella rgb?
It’s December of 2023 and these exact same Govee lights are at (Fresno Ca Costco) for half the price.
I have a bit of govee lights and enjoy them. Those look pretty sweet.
How would this work on a two story home where the lines don't connect 🤔 wouldn't there be exposed leds hanging from one edge to another
@@ericdavisii3912you'd have to splice in extensions with no lights.
I have a 3 skip light set up the lights that I have got turned off will flash on for a second every minute or so. What could or would be causing this to happen?
Good Lucy finding the lights for purchase..
Wish govee sold them in the UK, would be great for Christmas!
Wish they sold them in the US, too. 😜
I’ve never seen them in stock.
Hello, since you installed 2 controllers. Do they both work with the app?
Also, since there is 2 controllers to all the lights work together simultaneously? Thanks
You can create a group of devices to work simultaneously and is easy to do in the app
Wow colorful 🏡 so beautiful
What if you don’t have a whole 15m of soffit? Can they be cut shorter?
Do they have plain length of electrical line in case you need to make a jump from peak to peak without lights?
Yeah the website says it comes with some of those runs.
Very neat and special lights thanks for sharing
if the 30 meter size is short, how can I connect another 20 meter to it?
If you could cut to length they would be good
Wow you have a lit house 😉
👏
