What an art expression! An original Banksy painted over by the one and only Chris Walken! I literally yelled in amazement hahhaha
Nothing is permanent
It would have been more satisfying to paint over a Basquiat.
It's really funnier when you know that it's an actual Banksy instead of just some replica. 😂 👍
@@boterberg278 Um yeah it's Banksy 🙄 that's his genius
First off, more cowbell. Secondly I feel like a Banksy painted over by Christopher Walken would only increase the value.
what you mean he "created the British version of The Office"? he created THE Office.
yesssssssssssssssssssssssss
Wrote the same thing before I saw this! 😂
I have never seen Colbert more disinterested in interviewing a guest, time for a nap or vacation.
@@TomMarvan hate to be a grammar Nazi, but you mean “uninterested “, I think. And I don’t agree.
Correct. But like American comedy, it needed to be explained to the American audience. 🤣
Considering that when Banksy tried to destroy his own art it was only half successful this must be very satisfying for him to watch
That was deliberate so that some of it was still left, increased the value.
He clearly has a sense of humor
British slang swears never get bleeped! 😂❤❤
What a great show - sometimes I forget how much I love Stephen Merchant - and his sense of humour! xx
So glad there's a season 2. Loved the first season of The Outlaws!
I feel Stephen Merchant's size pain but in a very specific spot: my feet. I'm 5' 11" tall, so not huge. But I wear size 13 shoes. Imagine how often I've heard, "I'm sorry, sir. We don't have that shoe in 13. Would you try a 12?" REALLY?? Is there a level of hell deeper than wearing shoes one size too small??
I can relate to that. For me it sometimes works as my feet are too wide for a regular size 10 so I need a "10 wide" but with some shoe brands an 11 works out too, probably hence the question.
(OT: I finally discovered that "Australians" have exactly my foot form (must have stolen my contours while I slept) and I can buy those through the mail in size 10. )
Merchant is the man
He co-created The Office. Saying he co-created the British version makes it sound like there was anything before it.
And he was “executive producer “ of the American Office too.
Please stop saying “The British version of The Office” when it’s the ORIGINAL. It’s like saying “The American version of Cheers”. Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant created The Office, which was then adapted and remade by numerous countries around the world, including the US.
Give Ricky and Stephen their dues, please.
Omg I LOVE Stephen Merchant lol great interview lol
WE NEED SEASON 3 of THE OUTLAWS!!
He be so kewl. I mean, doesn't he make you feel good? Just watching/listening to him? BBT? Jo-Jo? Love the guy.
Fun fact Stephen Merchant is taller than Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
High and Mighty was behind that costume truck incident.
How Kool! Everything Merchant does turns Gold!!!
OMG, the Bristol pusher strikes again...
That wall is worth even more now..
Enjoyed seeing Merchant‼️Outlaws is terrific series, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting season 2.
colbert seems a little cold to merchant. goes for his cup without even looking at him.
One take? Couldn't they use latex paint, and rinse it away for a second take?
Stephen Colbert can be very derogatory about things that aren't American. Such a cultured guy! 🤦🏼♂️
To stand tall next to Gervaise you need more than length or girth, you have to be actually funny and damn he is!
I can’t listen to him without hearing Wheatley
Sad to see such beautiful art work painted over!
1:08 "Six foot seven inches"
I had to convert it because I'm European and that's exactly 2 meters.
Come on, USA!! See how easy is our system?
Join us!!
😋
He'd look shorter if he put on some #. I very much enjoyed "The Outlaws" & wish Stephen continued success.
Might mess with his knees/bones, as he's already likely to experience issues prematurely
He didn’t create the “British version of the Office” he created “The Office”.
True not to piss on anyones corn flakes but there's only one The Office and its the uk version ( sorry for a reply 1yr later)
@@HighFlyingEYE I'm still here!
Lanky Wanker actually sounds like a great clothing line name. Id buy it thats hilarious.
A wanker is a guy who masturbates.
I like how in his interviews he actually lets his guests talk freely without interrupting a thousand times and fake laughing. So refreshing. Good job Colbert!
I think Stephen Colbert meant he created The Office. Not the "British version of The Office". The American version copied their original version.
Indeed, I think Merchant could also be naked as a Creator of the American one.
It was the point of Stephen's joke !
@@matthewtyler-jones8317 _"... Merchant could also be naked as a Creator of the American one."_ So, it was that hard for him to find clothes, even then?
Pretty sure he was just distinguishing between the two versions.
The US version was based on the UK version, but given how long the US version ran and how different it was from the UK show, I think it's ok to distinguish between the two. Merchant even acknowledged that there's no way he and Ricky Gervais could've done what Greg Daniel's did with the American version of the show.
So glad to see Christopher Walken on screen.
Another highlight for me in "The Outlaws" is a scene where Christopher Walken is holding a Tesco (supermarket) bag having just been shopping there... never in a zillion years did I think I'd ever see Christopher Walken in a TV show with a Tesco shopping bag -too funny! 😆
He's also in Severance on AppleTV+
@@snoopy77uk someone I know runs into him in the hardware store in summer. She says "I can't help it. He's creepy "
@@rockanroleropr3467 brilliant show & love him!
I got a fever,,, A fever for more Walken
It's nice to see Wheatley doing so well for himself.
Hearing the band play "Always Look On the Bright Side of Life" was just PERFECT!
They confused Merchant and Eric Idle.
@@makiburgess5733 Merchant is Idle's spiritual successor, in the pantheon of British Comedy
@@codswallop321 YES!!
He didn't co-create the "British version of the Office". He co-created the Office. Period.
He didn't say anything about co-creating, he gave Merchant the FULL credit for the show. 0:11
@@4seeableTV the point is it’s not “the British version”,,,it’s just The Office !
@@jamiem8680 Ok ok, settle the F down. Not everyone that watches Colbert would know that, so it's fine for it to be pointed out.
@@4seeableTV You still seem to be missing the point, which is that “the British version of The Office” is the original. All other versions (of which there are many), including the popular US version, are remakes/adaptations of the original British series created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Ricky and Stephen created The Office itself.
Calling it “the British version” makes it sound like it’s just another adaptation or remake rather than the original. Do you see what we mean now? It’s like saying Matt Groening created “the American version of The Simpsons”, which is ludicrous.
@@clothilde1623 Damn you fangirls are so annoying. Really, who gives a shit? Let it go.
Stephen Merchant is one funny guy and one of the cleverest and quickest minds in the business. Favorite Norm MacDonald podcast was with Stephen as they match wits like they're doing a proper tango. Fan of Hello Ladies (why only one season?) and Rick/Carl/Stephen radio. Have watched Outlaws season 1 three times now and excited for season 2. Fantastic! And Chris Walken come on..Perfection!! Cheers Stephen
The best dirty Johnny joke ever told
Yes, the Ricky Gervais cartoon show! Brilliant!
he really has the quickest wit i've ever seen. love him!
“Karl with a K” as he would say.
@@john33333 Sorry Karl!
Do you all recognize Stephen Merchant? He was briefly Amy Farah Fowler's love interest in The Big Bang Theory who was infatuated with her because she knew and had kissed Dr Dr Sheldon Cooper. He was a Cooper Groupie.
i love that you picked out his most minor appearance ever, lol
@@everwhat013 Only a true fan would know that 👍😆
Should be "the original version of The Office"
I remember hearing about the art on the radio a few weeks ago and apparently they quite literally had a span of nights where they told the security guard for the area to not investigate anything that occurs during the night to make sure the artist had enough time to get in and do his work.
Aye, strangely I saw this appear in a quizz show a few months ago already. It appears to be old news despite the season not being out yet.
@@bfkc111 this actually happened in the first season that has already aired.
Wow! Well, that would explain how Banksy could do it without being seen and identified; cool!
@@emdeejay5515 The word is that Banksy is Robin Gunningham, from a town just outside Bristol.
A fee years back, Robert Del Naja (Massive Attack) and Jamie Hewlett from Gorillaz were named as candidates, but Gunningham seems pretty obvious.
@@bfkc111 it was out in the uk months ago.
Brit here, we’ve already had season 2 here, so no spoilers but I’m just here to tell you that it is even better than season 1, so if you enjoyed that, you’re in for a real treat, enjoy!
So, how often does Walken dance?
@@catherinewilliams9680 Not nearly enough.
@@Lumibear. He can never dance enough. 😀
Another brit here wondering if they edited the US version because Walken painted over a banksy in Season 1
I swear, Christopher Walken always pops up in unexpected projects, conversations, and movies. I love how he surprises me like that. I was watching the Severence the other day, and boom...suddenly, after many episodes he just pops up there too (his acting was really good!)
P.s. That was a fantastic series btw, at least google the theme song. Pure 10/10!

There's this fanmade cartoon on youtube called "DucktaleZ" which is essentially a parody of DragonballZ, and in the third episode, Scrooge steals a giant robot from Gyro and this giant robot is actually designed after Christopher Walken which is declared loudly while robo Christopher says "I am in a lot of movies" to the camera. xD
Oh my God I live in Oregon I live in Portland Oregon and Stephen merchant mentioned Odd Ball Shoes from Portland Oregon I love it
I swear I can’t hear Merchants voice without thinking of Wheatley from Portal 2
Same. I'm surprised more nerds like us haven't turned up to say so. I haven't even seen him in any movies or shows. Just Portal 2.
I'm a 6'1" female and the intro of this interview had me rolling!
The Banksy was painted over at the end of season 1, not season 2. Just sayin'...
what's that Stephen "created a British version of The Office" - _created_ a British *version* of the Office ?????? you do know the British 'The Office' was FIRST right? that (like so many many other shows) the USA created a show based on a British show. (& no, I'm not British - I'm from Aotearoa/New Zealand - we get the best of British AND the USA - and I thought this was common knowledge in the states) (oh and was created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant - not a great fan of Ricky - but he is due his credit)
High and Mighty came for your costume truck Stephen - there's no other explanation. Revenge is a dish best served cold and in a canal. 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As another 6'7" Brit (I prefer 2m) I can corroborate Stephen M's critique of H&M.
One day while shopping with the wife we actually came across a pair of pants that were labeled "Portly". How do you buy a pair of portly pants with pride?
Or order a 10 inch pizza named "the porker"?
3 types of pork?
High and Mighty is now a pot dispensary.
Good one! If I owned a pot shop I think I’d steal the name.
😄
What do you mean, "created the British version of The Office?" Should that just be "created The Office?"
"The Outlaws" is brilliant. Loved every moment of it.
I was 6’4” (shrunk since due to age and illness) but this resonates with me as well.
LankyWanker is about to be a registered domain...
"The Outlaws" show is pretty good. A season two will be awesome.
My husband and I like the show a lot.
Already watched it, it is!
Funny man Mr. Merchant from a fellow Bristolian. Shared a workshop space with Banksy once. Still don't know who he is.
Bristol is a great city. It started the trend of dumping slaver statues, when they chucked one in a canal in the summer of 2020.
As a 6ft 7 Bristolian man having to awkwardly shop at high and mighty growing up AND walking past this lorry in the river on my way home from work, this interview was MWAH *chefs kiss*
I love Stephen Merchant so much, but I can never hear his voice without picturing Wheatley
This man is as funny as he is tall. That was so cool. Mr. Walken painting over a Banksy. Good on Banksy in helping out
Such a fantastic concept; can't wait to check out this show!!
At the start I thought "I didn't know Colbert was that tall" then I realised he was standing on the stage and Merchant wasn't.
Yes…. I also didn’t notice that he was tall when he first walked in and shook hands with Stephen. I had to rewind the video and then realized that Stephen C. didn’t step down to shake hands.
Wheatley! I had no idea he was so tall. Makes it funnier that he got mad when he wasn't caught after coming down off of that rail...
Outlaw's rocks...ricki gervais talked lanky Stephen into doing a cartwheel on Graham Norton show....😁🤩
Outlaw's; u will laugh so much with ur mouth open that your husband will come upstairs and yell," what the hell are u doing in there?" ....especially the conversation in the elevator about moist yeast in ones girl pants if ya ride ur bike to work.....!!!!!
Watch season one...we 🇺🇸 need it.
Stephen Merchant is owed 50 pence by Karl Pilkington to this day.
The Outlaws REALLY IS fantastic.
Knowing Banksy they were probably like "Wait someone is gonna ruin my work thinking its regular graffiti? How big you you want it?"
Colbert is such a naff interviewer. He clearly doesn’t like brits very much. Love it when Ricky gervais annihilates Colbert about his absurd religious beliefs.
Of course the company went out of business! Banning 30% of your customer base is a bad, though obviously satisfying, business move.
wanker did not get beeped! I think they did not hear it 😂
"Created the British version of the Office" ouch, that gotta hurt.
Really funny and intelligent man 👏👏

Didn't they miss a great joke after Merchant says they went out of business? "That'll teach them to be so high and mighty,". No?
I'd love for Stephen to be my friend, that way he could introduce me to Karl.
Let’s ask him what it’s like to be tall he’s never been asked that
Didn't know much about Steven Merchant before this, thank you. He's very clever and the Banksy bit blew my mind in every direction and maybe even interdimensionaly
You know the entire Office show was made by him and Ricky Gervais. So if you've ever seen the office then you have him to thank for it

I'm surprised Banksy went along with the gag. Seems a bit too commercial for him. I guess he, too, is a big fan of cow bell! 😄
He probably loved the idea of them painting over it as "regular graffiti," it's a lot like his shredder stunt.
He likes to make banksy
Nice. Clicked thinking you said fan of comedy, I was gonna try smpn like more like com-merce. Instead I agree. Also who isn't. Gotta have more.
And they promised they were going to paint over it as part of the gag!
The guy does have a sense of humor. He shredded one of his paintings after it was sold at an auction.
Well, don't joke him about height.
If his publicist agreed to rhe question, he must have been okay with it
Original version of the Office. It's like saying the American design of Ford automobiles.
British version of The Office? You mean the original!!
Good to hear Wheatley again after his tenure in space.
What if the Spud _is_ Banksy? Think about it, they’re both successful international artists from Bristol, U.K. Video footage supposedly of Banksy from _Exit Through the Gift Shop_ and other sources show a lanky man with light skin. And how does Banksy reach all those hard to reach high up places? By climbing with his _freakish Men in Black alien limbs!_
Can you see his eyes _bulging with imagined riches_ when shredding that work of his right after it auctioned for $25.4 Million?
He has a West of England accent. Same as me. He's from Bristol, I am from 20 miles away
I notice Stephen stayed on the riser to shake his hand hehe smart.. no need to reach up!

I can't remember who it was but a very tall female comedienne said "I'm so sick and tired of people asking me 'how's the weather up there' that now I spit on them and say 'it's raining.'"
In the past, he has refused to talk about it because he didn't like it. Apparently, he"s got over it, because the publicist gave Stephen the permission to ask the question and he's got stories ready
Colbert good injoke between him and pal Stephen from daily show, that British office is just a version
When I saw the scene so many weeks ago I thought, "Brilliant". I figured it was done by the set designers. Now I say it's genius. Good show.
MECHANT! Who are you call sad? At least my mother still don't cut my hair.
Ohhh, it hurts me to see a Banksy casually rolled over, but if you look at it like a collaborative version of the one with the paper shredder, it's awesome. The story behind it makes it so much better.
