@@alcatrazvongola Athrun is very skilled but best pilot of the 3?! That’s debatable. You gotta imagine how effective Kira’s Freedom would be if he fought every suit with the intent to kill right off the bat. It would make his work massively easier. Athrun is definitely Kira’s rival but he doesn’t have the same level of prowess to simply disarm opponents every single time. Athrun more than often goes for the kill. So in a sense that’s why he appears to be the most effective of the 3. Because Athrun’s skill is close to Kira’s and he’s a realist making him more effective. Basically Kira is playing on extreme difficulty because of his foolish ideals. Athrun is playing on Normal/ Hard Mode and is just there to get the job done.
Yeah, about 30:28 and Flay's death. According to Fukuda in a 2003 interview after the show ended, Kira never heard what Flay wanted to tell him because she's a ghost. It was merely a way for the audience to know what Flay wanted to tell him but now never could. And if you look at the scene closely, they scripted and storyboarded it to hide that fact, but Kira's dialogue doesn't match up with Flay's. So, it's not really an etherial moment of understanding between the two because only the audience gets closure, not Kira.
No. That is not in line with his character AT ALL. Kira made a concerted effort to AVOID killing Athrun's companions all through the previous fights leading up to that. It is a good change that is more consistent with Kira's character.

Kira only calls them Gundam when he sees the G-Weapon's Operating System's initials, General Unilateral Neurolink Dispersive Autonomic Maneuver (G.U.N.D.A.M OS), and in a later episode both La Flaga and Murdoch reference this fact and lampshade why Kira calls it as such. Almost everyone in-universe calls them mobile suits, mobile weapons, G-Project or G-Weapons. *11:22: Like you mentioned earlier, the G-Project was underway in Morgenroete and it was a collaboration between the EA's Atlantic Federation and Orb, but Orb did not create the entire G-Project nor made the OG G-Weapons, they were basically siphoning data from the Alliance so they can gather most of the technology being produced for these mechs as well as gather data on ship development and MS strategies. The G-Project itself is supposedly conceptualized (or even developed) by the 8th Fleet's Admiral, Dwayne (or Duane) Halberton as speculated by Le Creuset and his crew during the Battle of Orbit. Orb needed the tech to aid in their own MS development, which is what led to the Astray frames, Murasame etc. It is also notable that Kira made a big contribution to Orb's MS development by essentially remaking the OS for Naturals. Orb's collaboration does allow the Archangel and it's machines to be easily maintained when they stayed there. *27:53: The faction Lacus, Kira and the rest of the main homie gang trying to stop the war is called the Three Ships Alliance, unofficially.

9:55 fun fact- this was Gundam Seeds "the beach episode". Every anime has one and Seed completely did it so differently but still important to the plot. Code geass saw this shit and did the exact same thing Also at the end.... I don't think rau ever told anyone on screen that he was behind it all- Kira just knew he was a problem who had to be taken out based on what he was saying (and kiras lack of rebuttal)
To be fair, Rau was using something that the entire human race in the real world has not been able to solve... like you expect a 15-16 year old boy to rebut a trap that countless adults throughout history are not only unable to solve, in fact, many had fallen into?
It’s no wonder why Athrun felt so useless in the first episodes of Gundam Seed Destiny. He was so full of action in gundam seed. To be fair, he is indestructible if he is not in his headspace all the time.. and just to be on the sidelines for some time and guarding Cagalli who at the same time is pretty busy herself with rebuilding her nation, may have been mentally depressing for him. I even saw a comment in twitter that Athrun is like Shinn, determined and capable of nuking everyone but the only difference is he THINKS
This was my introduction to the franchise. Despite its flaws, I found Cosmic Era's worldbuilding to be interesting. SEED is the revival of the franchise by returning to its all out war roots. If there's anything we can learn about Bloody Valentine War, it's "there are no winners". BVW is M.A.D.ness at the core seeing how both sides, led by extremists using WMDs on each other. Btw, Patrick tries to nuke Washington DC, Atlantic Federation's capital. Flay being a jerk imo, is more of an environmental one, leading to the question "is it nature or nurture". Seeing how AF is the hotbed of anti-Coordinator sentiment, it should be known that how much grip Blue Cosmos has over the politics, society and the most dangerous of all, MEDIA. Flay might be influenced through media. Her character could've been handled better though. Props to Kuwashima Houko for playing two characters at once! Yes; she voiced both Flay and Natarle. There's this thing been loitering around in my head which is had Fukuda didn't pull that Luke and Leia, Cagalli could've been the best foil and balance to Flay. Both even seems to be opposite of each other. Not to discredit Lacus but that's how I see it. Not to mention the war happens during the height of a cold war between Atlantic and Eurasian Federations. Think Cuban Missile Crisis level of tension between US and USSR but mix it with invasion from space of some sorts. That's why you see the Artemis troops being hostile because majority of the Archangel's original crew are from Atlantic Federation and they got the good stuff. Earth Alliance is fragile alliance at best, waiting to collapse at any moment. Alaska should've been the last straw for the alliance to continue, EA is basically a house of cards. You can say that Mu the American who makes impossible possible. Sounds Mu-rican alright. Btw, Patrick Zala is also from AF. The first Earth target? None other than WASHINGTON, DC. Justified it's the capital of the anti-Coordinator hotbed. It sounds as if as Fukuda tries to portray America or the West as a sort of "bad boy", for the lack of a better word and ORB is Japan but without Article 9 and it seemingly the ideal Japan to Fukuda. To drive that West thing home, look at the 3 new EA Gundams. The way I see them is they're Cosmic Era version of Wing (Raider), Heavyarms (Calamity) and Deathscythe (Forbidden). Guess what the first Gundam to be aired in the West? Sometimes, I hear people saying that Athrun is the true main protagonist. Idk but what do you think? Does he has the qualities of a main protagonist? Kira's survival could've been done better. The Strike's PS armor is still active meaning it still has power and the beam saber is still active. He could've cut the remaining legs, turn around at the last moment and let the Aile pack absorb the blast. The melted seat is one big headscratcher. The remaster should've kept the original footage. By the time the Archangel arrived at ORB, given the battles they've been through, Kira swing the sword by reflex should be a natural outcome. Rau's action made the whole mess even messier. He's the byproduct of humanity's unrelentless pursue of progress imo. His existence was due to a man who tries to bribe Death, with his wealth. But yeah, Death still catches up on Al. Hell, the Boosted Men and GSD's Extendeds are basically Spartan program. EA pulled an ONI and what Zala tries to do is basically GLASSING lol! Too bad Kira's an ensign instead of master chief petty officer. For some reason, the older I get and the more I watch SEED, Kira and Flay's dynamic hooked on me. Flay slowly becoming the mask she puts on and even after breaking up, she even ask Kira's whereabouts after the fight with Athrun cementing that her feeling is genuine. Still, Strike Kira is my favourite. Him inside the Freedom just makes him too perfect. Idk, maybe that's just me liking flawed characters. Everyone's got their own taste. If you're doing GSD, don't forget do Stargazer as well. I call it the "palate cleanser" for after watcthing GSD. Dang, this must the longest I've ever written. Sorry for the essay 😅.
Flay went from wanting Kira to die because he couldn't save her father, but when Kira was thought to be dead, Flay cried and regretted making Kira suffer.
I liked the dynamics between Kira and Athrun, two friends on opposite sides of a war, as both of them struggles to find the answer in this chaos: What is more important in wartime, friendship or duty? Kind of makes you wonder, if you and your best friend met on opposite side of a battlefield, can either of you have the guts to pull the trigger, or risk being persuaded to join the other side and betray your faction. The mechanical designs and new technologies are also a lot more diverse than the older eras, more contemporary and believable.
Gundam seed is the first gundam series I ever watched😅 I really wanted to watch gundam seed destiny but everyone says it sucks so I skipped it and watched gundam 00 instead. Now I'm hooked on anything gundam that's not linked to the main timeline

Hey - thanks for the reminder! I guess I forgot to put those in the description so I'll have to get to it when I next get the chance. I believe the song you're looking for is "Cool Edge (Night)" from Sonic Unleashed.
One often forgotten thing in SEED'verse by many is that canonically, only those certain weird kids are the only ones that call those special units "Gundam" & everyone else doesn't. Ask almost everyone in-universe & they'll just go "What da EFFs a Gundam?"
Favourite differences with remastered and HD. Kira vs mu sparring freedom vs strike. HD uses white fake beam sabers while remastered uses orange glowing ones. Cagalli takes a bath at the white tigers HQ vs taking a shower
Good summary, but, dude, I play Inverted controls and I'm good at those games I play. It's just a a different way of seeing things. For me , my mind sees it like a camera on a tripod. You pull left, lens moves to the right, pull right, your view swings left, pull down you see up etc. We're not stupid, just see it differently.
I dont know why some people are hating Seed. It's actually really good and I loved it to this day. Kickass mobile suits and a good war storyline that's pretty realistic, it was pretty good imo. Seed Destiny tho... well they had cool new gundams I suppose

@Joshua_N-A some type of variations of it was what I meant - because her dad dying had an effect on how she saw other people/Mu. Just a funny thing to notice that everyone has something going on with their dad
@@GundamHQI'd wager Kira had double the daddy issue.
In Seed Destiny, Kira's adoptive dad is completely absent while his adoptive mom is there.
i didnt know how much funnier cod hit markers make stuff
Thanks! I truly love this series.
Kira vs Rau was some of the best 1v1 in Gundam especially with Rau’s whole expositions and Kira being conflicted. Rau dies thinking he won.
Rau did won cuz there are still no peace in CE universe, also kira stupid believe killed more people than other gundam MC.
Refreshing my history before breaker 4 drops and all I can say is amazing video.
Although Mu got absolutly screwed in the strike. The fact he kept up with as many shots as he did was somthing on its own.
I'm in desperate need for a Destiny recap
And after all this time I STILL can’t find myself liking this or any related seed stuff. I don’t think I will ever understand the appeal but , I had to try one last time.
Great work and Great video!! this made it actually bearable.
My favorites are the three boosted men, specifically Cloto I felt bad for them, they were trained to beat the Coordinators but they were always reminded that they were inferior and ultimately wanted freedom(ironic) but were held back by Azrael.
Those 3 guys caused a lot of trouble for Kira and Arthrun. Besides those 2, no one could stop those 3 guys.
@@KenKing-d2o Exactly! Hell they almost killed Kira if it wasn’t for plot armor, you can see the freedom getting destroyed by Raider alone
@@mikloridden8276Since these 3 guys appeared, the alliance has proactively attacked the Zalf base to capture the Mass Driver and these 3 guys have almost wiped out the Zalft soldiers to open the way for nuclear attacks on Plant and Kira because of the distraction caused by Flay's request. saved but almost died at the hands of these 3 guys.
Great video it's good to see some seed love! Just recently rewatched for the first time since I was a kid and I wasn't expecting as much hate that I've seen on the internet. After rewatching it it took my top spot over Gundam 00 I love it
from this video i can safely assume that the rivalry between Yzak and Athrun is about who is the most blood thirst monster on battlefield
9:55 fun fact- this was Gundam Seeds "the beach episode". Every anime has one and Seed completely did it so differently but still important to the plot.
Code geass saw this shit and did the exact same thing
Also at the end.... I don't think rau ever told anyone on screen that he was behind it all- Kira just knew he was a problem who had to be taken out based on what he was saying (and kiras lack of rebuttal)
He reveals his motivations to Kira - which in sheds light on everything for the audience is more so how I was trying to frame it
To be fair, Rau was using something that the entire human race in the real world has not been able to solve... like you expect a 15-16 year old boy to rebut a trap that countless adults throughout history are not only unable to solve, in fact, many had fallen into?
It’s no wonder why Athrun felt so useless in the first episodes of Gundam Seed Destiny. He was so full of action in gundam seed. To be fair, he is indestructible if he is not in his headspace all the time.. and just to be on the sidelines for some time and guarding Cagalli who at the same time is pretty busy herself with rebuilding her nation, may have been mentally depressing for him. I even saw a comment in twitter that Athrun is like Shinn, determined and capable of nuking everyone but the only difference is he THINKS
I never realized they redid Nicols death that is so dumb dude
Gundam's own Han Shot First moment
The sonic music was a great touch actually
thank you for this! would love to see a destiny recap :)
Yea flay was a hardcore racist. That girl would call them coordinator with a hard R.
Coordinata
NGL, we need more videos like this covering other gundam series!
"Everyone has a daddy issue" - My fav quote
Please cover the differences between the HD remaster and the original series 😭😭
I am here because I can no longer recall the things that happened when I first watched gundam seed. basically when I was a child
I made this because I guarantee you're not alone!
Watching the series now. Didn't know about destiny or freedom so thanks.
lol the most dangerous pacifist met the most forgiving mass murd3rer
The most accurate description I could come up with
It still makes me sad that Maru never knew Natarle was fighting for her life and tried to save the Archangel
Any time I m thinking about watching Seed I remember the amount of plot armor Kira has
Seed was the bomb! Music was awesome, the bad guy was awesome!
Gundam Breaker 4 content coming? I am slowly getting hooked on the Seed suits after both of the Gundam Builders shows and the OVA.
Yes do one for destiny please! Got tickets for me and wife for seed freedom but can’t convince her to sit through both series 😂
You'll have to let me know if she's even willing to sit through this one
@@GundamHQshe was willing to and she just did!!! 😂
Having my son watch this with me so we can catch Seed Freedom in May. Thank you for doing this. I do hope you get to Destiny as well because, like @greendog629, I won’t be able to get my son to sit through Seed and Seed Destiny. Thanks again!
RIP ArchAngel 2001-2024
Looks like Nukes are back on the menu boys! 25:26
Ur the best Gundam story teller
Thanks I appreciate that, very new territory for me
favorite series... then Gundam 00
I remember loving it 20 years ago but also thinking it was a beat by beat retelling of the OG gundam series for most of it.
I couldn’t find your similar summary approach to Gundam Seed Destiny; are you currently working on it? Was hoping to watch that too before catching Seed Freedom in theatres soon!
What is the music that started at the 4 minute mark also after watching this and getting a refresher of the series I will never under the distaste about this series outside of voice acting
Hey - thanks for the reminder! I guess I forgot to put those in the description so I'll have to get to it when I next get the chance.
I believe the song you're looking for is "Cool Edge (Night)" from Sonic Unleashed.
The single most pew-pew Gundam series in the franchise.
This is now my preferred dub of the series.
All these views and not enough likes? Wtf guys. If you clicked on the video, you are at least interested.
25:04 with this treasure I summon... ALL THE NUKES!
One often forgotten thing in SEED'verse by many is that canonically, only those certain weird kids are the only ones that call those special units "Gundam" & everyone else doesn't. Ask almost everyone in-universe & they'll just go "What da EFFs a Gundam?"
Cause Daddy Issues is real and can be quite lethal if not addressed early on. 😰
This is a fantastic recap!!! Please do Destiny next!
Yes i need the difference between remastered and original series
11:58 it was at this moment, that Flay became a Phase Connect vtuber.
Favourite differences with remastered and HD.
Kira vs mu sparring freedom vs strike. HD uses white fake beam sabers while remastered uses orange glowing ones.
Cagalli takes a bath at the white tigers HQ vs taking a shower
Athrun with shadows white jungle is funny as hell lol
I don't remember the plot
but I remember the clip show episodes like it was yesterday
Good summary, but, dude, I play Inverted controls and I'm good at those games I play. It's just a a different way of seeing things. For me , my mind sees it like a camera on a tripod.
You pull left, lens moves to the right, pull right, your view swings left, pull down you see up etc. We're not stupid, just see it differently.
Has the new Gundam come out yet
Damn, gotta love the Sonic unleashed music haha
Good video!
I dont know why some people are hating Seed. It's actually really good and I loved it to this day. Kickass mobile suits and a good war storyline that's pretty realistic, it was pretty good imo. Seed Destiny tho... well they had cool new gundams I suppose
26:54 "is the equivalent of full-blown intercourse" which is WILD since Fllay had already broken off a piece of that Ultimate Coordinator Chocolate like 40 episodes ago
19:22 you mean druggies
Cause most people call them that
so many memories
My friend watched all of this is now needs the destiny recap 😂
