2024 Singapore Minime Fencing Competition

2024 Minime Fencing Competition is the first tournament #sahetapyboy is competing on a National level. So far he has only competed at a club level Under 8 Category. This tournament's lowest category for FOIL is Under 10 so he is a little bit out of his class.
Though he is generally bigger for his age he is definitely not bigger than a 10 year old. This is going to be a huge challenge for him but we wanted him to get more competition experience and challenge him. We did not have high expectations as we were taking part for the experience.
Waking up early in the morning and going for competition is not something he is used to but he took it in stride. He lost the first 2 games 0 - 4. In the 3rd match he was losing 0 - 3 but came back to win 4 - 3. His last pool match saw him win convincingly with a 4 - 0 now that his confidence was up.
In the elimination stages, he faced off against a strong opponent and lost 0-8. Tough pill to swallow but he did throw away 2 points in the beginning by stepping out of the line.
All in all I felt it was a good learning experience and he performed better than expected. Matching off against more experienced and bigger opponents is always going to be tough but now he knows he can also overcome adversity.
