- Learn about my raku pottery process. The one constant with my raku pottery work throughout the years has been transformation. As a raku artist, I find it fun and challenging to try new things, and I especially enjoy developing new glaze recipes. I started firing using the raku process in 1981 and found the element of serendipity and surprise to be invigorating.

Steven, I am a ceramics+painting student at IUPUI. I've been tasked with making homemade glazes for an alternative firing course I'm in. Your glazes get graduate students ooh-ing and aah-ing at my pieces that come out of the kilns using your glazes.. I just wanted to say I love this process video, and your glazes are phenomenal. I used your Blue Moon recipe as my first homemade glaze, and I think I am hooked on making glazes by scratch now! Love from Indiana.
Nice, great knowledge, experience and talent!

Thank you, Chris!
Beautiful work! thanks fo sharing.
Thank you, Libby
The work is fantastic. Please be more specific about the glaze application. Why some sprayed, some poured, which and why?
Just saw your question. I want the first coat to be thinner so I spray it. the second and third coats are poured on thicker for best results.
