    Hi Jenn 👋
Not sure if you’ve dabbled in pan-African literature, but I’d highly recommend the following books:
    1) My sister, the serial killer - by Oyinkan Braithwaite
    2) The hairdresser of Harare - by Tendai Huchu
Easy, universally relatable, realistic fictional novels that are real page turners! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I understand the cognitive dissonance with you promoting your book club and posting videos, but you shouldn't feel hypocritical with content like this! It makes sense to meet your intended audience where they'll consume your content. It would have been ironic, for example, if you wrote a book about why people should read more books and consume less television and internet content -- similar to how The Social Dilemma was presented on Netflix :)
Loving your book recs as always. Can't wait to check out Brave New World and Chaos!

I am American and didn’t really know much of the Vietnam War and that could be to so many different reasons and the first is being young and not caring about history BUT... if you haven’t watched it yet Jenn watch the Ken Burns Vietnam War Documentary. My husband was watching it and I couldn’t stop watching. Let me warn you and say it is SO LONG. Like 18 hours long but you learn so much about so many points of view in the war. Heavy watch but it really is a brilliant one. Thanks for all the recommendations!!! ❤️

i highly reccommend island of sea women by lisa see.
“Set on the Korean island of Jeju, The Island of Sea Women follows Mi-ja and Young-sook, two girls from very different backgrounds, as they begin working in the sea with their village’s all-female diving collective. Over many decades-through the Japanese colonialism of the 1930s and 1940s, World War II, the Korean War, and the era of cellphones and wet suits for the women divers-Mi-ja and Young-sook develop the closest of bonds. Nevertheless, their differences are impossible to ignore: Mi-ja is the daughter of a Japanese collaborator, forever marking her, and Young-sook was born into a long line of haenyeo and will inherit her mother’s position leading the divers. After hundreds of dives and years of friendship, forces outside their control will push their relationship to the breaking point.”

Jenn thanks for recommending the Social Dilemma, watched it right after you mentioned it. A great watch to keep you thinking and open your mind. Just want to say the opening gave me lots of anxiety though, talk about gloom and doom! But once I was in it, I couldn’t stop watching, just wish it was longer so I could have heard more about every one of the interviewees’ have to say. Great to see there is something being done about the negative impact social media is creating.

Omg thank you so much for recommending such interesting exciting books, youtubers always recommend self-care and “table” books that only have a pretty cover. As a book worm, I am thrilled and totally asking for all of these for Christmas

I listened to The Silent Patient last year & it was intense, loved it! It’d make a great movie I think, which is funny bc the author typically writes movies

JENNN I just came back to recommend this assigned book im currently reading called the color purple by Alice Walker. It dives into African American history and is a really powerful and raw book with great character development and I think you'll really enjoy it! the format is very different because its written in the form of letters to god and it really showcases her relationship with god as her only way out of the difficult life she has lived. it is definitely a pretty deep book but its one of the only assigned books that have really opened my eyes and actually got me interested

Hey Jen - I’d be curious to hear how you deal with the “level of hypocrisy” that you describe midway through this video :) One could argue that almost all of us operate on a level of cognitive dissonance, maybe taking jobs that don’t align with our values or other common choices, and it would be really interesting to hear how you reconcile eggie’s price range/material production with the idea of environmental friendliness and making an effort to not entertain ourselves with ephemeral things.

Recently I’ve been reading a book called “Many Lives Many Masters” The True Story of a Prominent Psychiatrist. It’s mind blowing and I would highly recommend it.

Jenn, I highly recommend “The Other Side of the Couch: A Psychiatrist Solves His Most Unusual Case”. It was previously titled, “The Naked Lady Who Stood on Her Head”. It’s so interesting to get a behind the scenes look at a psychologist’s experience during therapy and what his thoughts and feelings were throughout. Plus the ways he helps his patients. Fascinating book if you love psychology and mental health.

Jenn, I love how your eyes light up when you talk about books. And I can tell in the second half of the video that you were able to unwind a bit and venture a little more off memorized or prepared material (I get it, it was sponsored content). Brave New World is one of my favorites! I'm reading The Genius and the Goddess by Huxley right now. It's such a tough read. He's such a Renaissance man sprinkling references to other subjects left and right. I hope to get as good as you are with book analysis and note taking during this read!

Hi Jenn! Have a recommendation, Never leave me (Kazuo Ishiguro). It's a novel that a professor of Philosophy recommend me, and I loved it. You can read it like a novel or can go deep and question what really makes us humans.

Love all of your recos, thank you for always keeping us on the lookout for awesome reads. One thing I wanted to point out is it'd be really great to see less Amazon links and more links from independent bookstores or Bookshop! Think more BIPOC owned shops could use more love (since Amazon already has enough money going their way). :)
