I saw a good trick will try cuz deer ate my apple trees too. String strong transparent fishing line rather high, 5 rows up to 7 feet on strong stakes. Transparent and cheap solution. It seems they get freaked by the transparency of the fishing line so less likely to jump it. A German Shepard doesn't hurt either.
Set up another lower fence 4’ to 5’ high maybe 4’ to 5’ high away from the tall fence. One strand. That will probably keep them from getting the launching jump that they need. It gives them an optical illusion.
Electrify the fence. Your first 4 to 5 feet needs to be regular fence and not barbed wire. Then the barbed wire electified as you have it now. That will stop them and keep them away for many years.
Thank you for the suggestion, but as far as electrifying the fence, I don't think it will work in my situation. I have a hedge that touches the fence everywhere and we are talking a mile long fence. Also that still won't stop them from jumping over it.
I see new deer damage in my yard every day. Right now they are eating my strawberries, which is fine because they are done producing for the year and they leave at least some growth on each plant so they are not dying. They also munch on my sugar snap peas hanging on my garden fence, and they chomp on the new raspberry and blackberry canes, which is also fine because the top bud will grow upward and extra thick. As for my fruit trees they’ve been grazing on them since Day 1. I bought some bars of soap to hang on each tree last month and after that they only eat a bite here or there but have mostly just moved over to my berries. However, they only left me with 6 leaves or so on one of the peach trees last month (before hanging the soap) and now it is bare. I’ve never had that happen before so I hope it bounces back, but after a month and the only new growth being root suckers (which I pulled) I don’t think it is bouncing back. My next experiment is to plant deterrents and alternative food sources. For the critters I just planted a bunch of partridge berries, mayapples, and wintergreens. I’m also going to transplant some of my spearmint into pots and place them at the base of each tree because NOTHING has touched my grapesvines with the spearmint all around them.
Yeah, as beautiful as the deer 🦌are, I don't ever want to see them anywhere inside my property. As good as the idea sounds about planting something for deer to be attracted to, im afraid to plant it, with the thoughts that it's gonna bring more deer in.
Oh yeah! Absolutely! I've seen them a handful of times, from standstill, they clear it no problem. That's what this one did. They also do squeeze between the wire, especially the young ones.
Got my trees last night.
Oh! That's awesome 👌

Thank you for the idea but I don't really have the room to do that between the hedge and the fence.
Put the ten ft fence just around the tree..they can't get in.
True, they can't but I can't as well🤣

Have you actually seen them hop over it? They may be squeezing through or under.

@@growtolearn4545 time to shoot and eat them then. 😃
I caught a doe on camera crawling under my fence in a space no bigger than 10” opening. I think she’s going under or through
Hi Kay. Yeah it's ridiculous how they can fit between the wires. They can also jump 10 feet straight up.
Shoot and eat! :0
