when I'm training centre lines I always stop at I or even G (over X) cause they will start anticipating the halt and stop two or three meters before X on a test. its easier to collect earlier than to push those extra steps when ur horse knows u gonna stop without losing that collection especially in canter

That was good Matt ... like you said it's a start and.by you bringing us along step by step, we can see the progression in you both. It makes one realize how hard dressage is when watching completions, whereby some horses appear flawless. We may not appreciate the ease at which it looks as much as we should ... because we haven't seen the beginning of that journey, for both horse and rider. Would love to continue seeing this journey of working towards that test I unfortunately had to quit riding because of university and I miss it a lot, so seeing videos like this kinda brings me back a little to the feeling of being on the saddle that I miss so much. Matt, have you heard of the technique called back-chaining? You start with the end, then you do the next last exercise and the end, then you keep adding on backwards. This way you are setting yourself up to know the end of the test best instead of the beginning. Of course you dont want the horse to memorize the test but when you chain several exercises together, and add more on, try starting from the end instead of the beginning!
I wish you a lovely time with training and just the whole journey to this test. Its so cool to see how you go trough it. I already was wondering when you would go in to the ring with him ❤️
Wow! You two are looking great! Thanks for the ride-along. It really is beneficial for the rest of us as well. Excited to see you both progress in preparation for October!

New to your site. I love dressage but have never tried this discipline. I ride Reiners and there is some elements that are similar. Your horse is beautiful and I loved the way you walked through the test. I’ll be back to watch more. Thanks
Looking so good! One thing you might want to consider (and you're already thinking about it, so that's good!) is that with a stallion, you'll have to really consider herd behavior. What I've seen with every single stallion is that you'll have a nice, relaxed rideable horse in the warm up ring, but when you go to ride away from the "herd" into the court for your test, your guy is gonna protest, since it's his job to look after his herd. They often have a hard time getting up centerline and want to go back to the warm up (they often run backwards at X). I do not know how to prevent this. Perhaps warm-up, take a break away from the horses in the warmup, and then go into the test without spending any time in the warmup ring. Can you organize other riders to simulate this at home? Can you get advice from your coach? Love your PRE. I rescued an Andalusian last year, and he is turning out to be the best horse ever!
You both look very good. I think you are right about looking out for the markers, being very careful to ride the exercises to point, as this will secure you a good background score. Your circle is bigger than it should be. Perhaps a little mark 1.5 meters towards B from the Center line could do the trick for you to get a feel for the right size. Wishing you good luck and keep up with the fantastic work!
What fun! I'm so excited for this competition journey. Like others have said, can you take him out to a smaller event locally to get him used to being in a competition environment? Even riding club rallies are great if you have them over there. Looking forward to this so much 🤩
Emporio is such a dream horse, and you both look beautiful together ❤️. Keep up the good work, I appreciate you sharing your journey... the good, the bad, and the beautiful! ❤️ Love Donna in Texas.
Emporio as sweet as ever, doing his best for you Matt...great video. Chase minding his own business...so smart. looking forward to the rest of your journey with your beautiful PRE stallion.
OMG Matt! I am so, so proud of you. I trained movements at PSG, but never competed. Whew! What an accomplishment!! This is so exciting! I am thinking about what you said. Your horse is short coupled and should bendeasily. Try shoulder-in out of the courner 3-4 steps straight and haunches -in 3-4 steps with 2-3 steps straight at the working trot both directions. Also do half turnsoff the long side 8 m bothdirections and spirals out of 10m circles on center. jThis will help with bend in half pass.Best wishes,,,Georgia
This was great fun to watch! Just to allow Emporio to focus during these trainings, you might consider reversing the numbers so that the center line walks away from the grazing fields. It will help you as well to be prepared for whichever direction the test arena is in.
Looking good! It will be fun to find out what kind of ride he gives you at the show. It looks like your hard work is definitely paying off at home. Fingers crossed he keeps his head on his shoulders for you. :D
Emporio is such a gorgeous horse! Beautiful! And I admire how neat of a seat (?) you have! Do you think he could extend his trot so he could start stretching his legs forward too? Do you think you are going to train that or stick with what he can do now? I know it's not easy, just curious! I'm super interested to see more of this journey towards the competition!
Wonderful start. I have the same issue with hitting my markers at the beginning. But if you keep talking to yourself and envisioning your test it will all come together. Meditating your test or parts of it could help too. Helps me.
You improved so much during your practice session. Emporia is a real eye catcher! Fun to watch but also helpful for me and my Friesian sporthorse, Max. 🐴😀👍

Depending on the type or show they REALLY don't like you leaving the warmup since it cannot be monitored
I'm amazed at how great and especially huge Emporio looks nowadays! My gosh- keep it up, Matt 😇
So fun, love this, it's always helpful to see the process and hear what you're thinking. Thanks for sharing!
That and the clucking needs to stop or he will do it in the test and lose points and wonder why
What fun! I'm so excited for this competition journey. Like others have said, can you take him out to a smaller event locally to get him used to being in a competition environment? Even riding club rallies are great if you have them over there. Looking forward to this so much 🤩
Trust you will do amazing, Matt! 🤩
Great raw footage of you all’s dressage training - yall are really coming along so keep up that tenacity and please post more!! 👍
Emporio is such a dream horse, and you both look beautiful together ❤️. Keep up the good work, I appreciate you sharing your journey... the good, the bad, and the beautiful! ❤️ Love Donna in Texas.
Very impressive! I really appreciate you explaining everything. I think that was a great run.
He looks amazing! So powerful!
Thank you for sharing with us, looking forward to more videos!
Emporio as sweet as ever, doing his best for you Matt...great video. Chase minding his own business...so smart. looking forward to the rest of your journey with your beautiful PRE stallion.
It’s crazy to imagine your first ever show with a horse being at FEI level! Goes to show what an incredible pair you two are 🦄🌟
I have fallen in 🥰 love woth Emporio!!!I wish you and Matt all wins and happy riding!!!
I’m excited to see the process! Thank you
This was great fun to watch! Just to allow Emporio to focus during these trainings, you might consider reversing the numbers so that the center line walks away from the grazing fields. It will help you as well to be prepared for whichever direction the test arena is in.
Gorgeous horse and riding Matt👍👍 I love your garden up at the arena too.🌺🌼🌸keep up the good work.🐴🐴
Looking good! It will be fun to find out what kind of ride he gives you at the show. It looks like your hard work is definitely paying off at home. Fingers crossed he keeps his head on his shoulders for you. :D
Fun to come along. Very interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful to watch
Gosh his mode changes when you gather the reigns! Beautiful boy. He thinks he's pretty special, and so he should 💕
His gaits are simply lovely; the boy has moves!
It's great that your are sharing this journey with us! So fun to see how you go!
You will do great!!! The two of you look amazing....Thank you for sharing your story. By the way..I love all your horses.
He is beautiful but needs to stretch his neck out more to extend better
Its gonna be so exciting to see your journey!!! Pls show us as much as possible!
He’s looking so good!
Emporio looks fantastic! Looking forward to more - I'm enjoying this step-by-step approach to practicing the test. Thank you!
Love this, cant wait to follow your dressage test riding, the best video - thanku x
Wonderful start. I have the same issue with hitting my markers at the beginning. But if you keep talking to yourself and envisioning your test it will all come together. Meditating your test or parts of it could help too. Helps me.
Looking great!
Hope he enjoys competition.
What a wonderful opportunity. Thank you for sharing it with us vicariously!
You improved so much during your practice session. Emporia is a real eye catcher! Fun to watch but also helpful for me and my Friesian sporthorse, Max. 🐴😀👍
I really have no experience with dressage and can't make any knowledgeable remarks. I just love beautiful horses. Your stallion certainly is that. I love watching you. Your stallion has such awesome action in his trot. I could watch him all day! Thanks for sharing. I'm sure he will do you proud as his show career progresses. 👏 LOL from Carole and the kittens. 🐈😻
Loved this video. I really enjoy yours and Jesse's videos when you are riding. It is very interesting.
Jeah Math! This is a great idea to follow your training for this contest and to show us the day of the contest! Love it!
