I have bunch of family retired down in Murrell's Inlet ... they love it. Just Retired and planning on Wintering Early Jan-Early May South East Asia 2025 with lots of stops alone the way and back, but spending at least a month in Cebu City area. Your travel style/costs there was a great fit for me as I too don't live in Bars and love to walk. A Hotel apartment style room with roof top infinity pool, full cleaning service and a full gym is what I will be looking for in Cebu & BGS. Hope you get to take your Lady over to Darlington one Labor Day in the future ... now that Southern 500 is as Americana as it gets. Great info and hope to catch you in PI next year.

I spent 6400 in 2 1/2 months excluding airfare. It all depends on the city you visit. Also, expats may not to eat local food due to montezuma's revenge. You were lucky. Some cities have American style restaurants which with tip may push $10. Most people won't use Air B&B because the area may not be safe because of no security. Many guys will do the meet the family thing which wkll cost a lot of money. Others may have a girl that wants things for you to buy, and you will probably give in. Your trip was more unique than the typical foreigner visiting here. I live here and settled in, and my cost is about $2300 a month. Without drinking or any bad habits. But still having to watch my spending. Good video.

My last ticket was around 1200 from Seattle. No baggage fees for the international flight for the first two bags.
I paid around 350 for a regional ticket to Seattle. It may make sense with baggage fees to fly first class depending on the airline because they waive fees for first class .
Air B&B was around 800 for the month.
Other expenses were around 1400. Grab, food, restos, ext.
I spent around $2200 for the month, not including airfare.

You are 100% corrected about the smiling faces all around and my heart goes out to all in such poverty. I and I guess you can't wait to return like me every day….. @@dieselkong I do a lot of business in the DC/NOVA area so if I am headed over the Atlantic I always stop in DC/NOVA. United has a non-stop HNL to Dulles so that is great. I love the SC coast, Charleston and Myrtle are awesome. My partner in SC lives inland in Spartanburg area and I tell him that he needs to move to the coast. He says he can visit Hawaii, but he and his wife often spend long weekends in Myrtle. My place is in Metro-Manila so I fly into NAIA and the cabs can be terrible. I almost exclusively use Grab or a private driver, who is also a Grab driver on the side. But there is a "trusted" cabbie line, at NAIA, but in general I tell people to learn the simple term "meter Po" and don't get into the cab unless they agree and turn the meter on from the start. I also suggest in areas like Manila where there is a lot of traffic, if the trip takes a long time and they are sitting in traffic, give the driver a good tip. Good luck on your next trip in Oct.

I’m flying out early in January out of Chicago too
    Probably Cebu City.
I just retired and I’m not interested in finding someone to date or anything until like 6 months once I get settled in.
    And my budget in $1,600
Don’t drink and don’t do bars so I believe that ($1,600) would work..
I will be looking for a simple 1 bedroom condo that’s close to everything and I will get health care plan for the major stuff that might happen.
I believe the costs is ($200-250) a month.
I do want to find a Christian ( non Catholic Church).
    Anyway
My question is what was your luggage costs ?
Did you have to pay extra for any of your bags.
I’m planning on 1 carry on with a personal size bag and 2 checked luggage.
Thank you for sharing your experiences.
    Blessings
    Greg

I carried only a carry on I didn’t check in any bags sorry I don’t have much information there for you. I do know that they told me one check in bag was $55 that was on delta. On the other 1600 will be plenty there you will be comfortable with that. Enjoy the place man travel around to island to island for a little boat rides don’t cost that much and you can always find a great room to rent for short term while you travel. They are Christian churches there also. Sign up for travel before you leave. etravel.gov.ph/ hope this helps.

    • @dieselkong
      @dieselkong  2 місяці тому

Give your self plenty of time at the airport. When you get there get a grab or a taxi with a meter but I recommend grab you can download the app. Change your money at the airport or the mall you may pay just a little more but it’s the safest. Get a smart sim for your phone. You can also do that at the airport Hope that helps. Thanks for watching

Grab is not that cheap many places in the Philippines ...As I write this I am sitting in my condo in Angeles City and I just priced a grab to the airport which is 20 minutes away and the cheapest Grab car price is 358 pesos which is $6.09 USD ... also, the cheapest you will find a 2 peices of chicken with rice is 150 pesos or $2.55 USD and that is street food, not a restaurant with aircon... 2 pieces of chicken in restaurant with AC here is no. less than 350 pesos or $5.75 USD and the average price if 500 pesos or $8.75 USD... he is accurate with rental prices but there are generally much cheaper flying options with much better time tables from most placaes in the US to Manila if you book at least 30 days in advance ... but as always, I appreciate the video Diesel... and good luck with your pretty gal
