    I was amazed at how well it (mostly) hung together. There were a few moments it sounded like the entire drumline tripped over a crack in the sidewalk or something but... it actually worked!

      You want those parts so that when your drumline is the one leading everyone into retreat all the other bands stumble and start marching out of time.

    Video Idea: At PASIC or WGI or whatever event has alot of marching percussionists, have them play a lick on whatever drum to fill X measures at X tempo and make it into a cadence

    Honestly this is a very valid way of composing. I feel like what you have here would be a super solid first draft of a cadence. And now if you just clean it up a little bit, figure out the spots that don't really work and fix them up a bit, it'd sound really sick!

      you could make an algorithm automate the process, if you don’t like a spot, you tell it to regenerate that spot.

    For the random nature of the idea, it shows that, musically speaking, if the principals are sound, everything works out. Any form of music is nothing more than complex mathematics in sound. For those who understand that world (obviously you do) of musical compositional theory, then nothing is impossible. Great job.

    I did something like this in the late 1970s; I wrote a BASIC program for the Radio Shack TRS-80 that used (a) an array of every pattern/rest that fit in 1/2 beat and (b) a random number generator to generate snare solos, which I transcribed and added dynamics, sticking, time signatures, etc. I used one of them in competition, and...well, let's just say that the judges weren't ready for that level of technology. That's my story, anyway, and I'm sticking to it. 8)

    I think it could be quite interesting to hear how a whole show would turn out written that way. For the brass lines, I'd go with two spinners. The first would be filled with notes and rests of different lengths and the second one would have all the pitches for that instrument.

    So I felt that overall this was way better than anticipated, but there were certainly moments that felt like the drums were thrown at the wall to see what stuck.
    I think the cymbal feature was the weakest point, it felt slightly off kilter.

    even worse idea: have chatGPT write a cadence. do it the same way you did this cadence: ask it to write one bar, and then the next, and then the next, rinse and repeat for each part.
