You may want to use a bigger safety pins if you use it that way.

I would put the safety pins on the Inside seam of the blouse, so that you donot see the pin head or tail, the straight part of the pin will look like belt loops.

HI. I put the safety pins from the inside the shirt before threading the ribbon/belt. This way it is not so obvious the metal showing is a safety pin. Also if you could sew, tacking the hair bands with needle and thread is safer. Accidentally opened safety pin could be quite painful!😢

Slingback shoes I learnt a long time ago if the back strap has elastic with no buckle to tighten it up not to buy them the elastic stretches out over time and you can sew it tighter and tighter as it loosens off but if you just buy a pair with a buckle a functional buckle you don't get that problem ❤

I agree, my first thought was to put the pins inside the shirt or even sew loops to the shirt sides and loop the ribbon through 😊

For the shoe, depending on the colour, you could tie on a ribbon covering the hair band.

For your safety pin hack, put the safety pin on the inside of your shirt, that way you can use any size ribbon or or soft belts. Hope that helps.
