I think it's less hate and more like they don't care similar to The Simpsons or Spongebob. Shows have gone so long to the point it's declared to be *on a decline* after the 'golden era' that the veteran fans either stop actively talking about it or it's just white noise to the casual viewers even when a remotely decent episode aired.

Also, there was a major missed opportunity in the Titanic Joke. When Brain and Stewie were on the boat I wish another Brain, Stewie, and Chris were in the background because they time-traveled to the Titanic in Chris, Brian, and Stewie's Excellent Adventure. *Continuity error:* Lois says she had a dream where Chris worked at the brewery and said that was crazy. Recent Family Guy episodes, especially this season, never fail to surprise me with how they keep making these *MONUMENTAL* upticks in quality. Although there are still a few duds, this season alone has given us plenty of banger episodes, inlcuding wholesome ones like this.
This season's "Bend or Blockbuster", especially comes to mind as one of their more wholesome episodes, given just how uncharacteristically _nice_ the family acted toward each other for once. It was just so sweet to see The Griffins all function as a team for once and have the kids all say nice things about Peter toward the end.
If you liked "Adoptation", I would also highly reccomend "Bend or Blockbuster" simply for the episode's wholesome aspect, alone..

this episode, strangely enough, had a very similar plot to a simpsons episode that aired a few months back. that episode saw abe dating a woman with an adopted son, who homer becomes jealous of. i feel like that episode did more interesting things with that concept than the family guy episode. for starters, calvin, the kid from the simpsons episode, has a much more unique personality, and we actually get to see him interact with homer. homer gets jealous of calvin specifically because of how abe treats him, much like lois and carter with tatum. however, the simpsons episode has a scene where homer sees how abe treats calvin, and in turn shows calvin firsthand how abe treats him. this leads calvin to want homer to improve his relationship with abe, because despite their arguing throughout the episode, he grows to want homer to be happy.
i think the biggest problem with the family guy episode is that tatum is a complete non-character. she only exists to make lois jealous, and her only personality trait is that she's a generic child. compare that to calvin, who's big thing was that he enjoyed taxidermy, which plays into that episode's plot. back to tatum, we never see her voice an opinion on lois being jealous of her, or observing how carter treats lois compared to her. and that bit at the end is probably the only time we see the two of them actually conversing.
and yes, i know that these are two different shows that are trying to do two different things. but i've believed for a while that while simpsons is the best it's been in quite some time, family guy still has potential to improve. its worst days are long behind it, but it feels like it's been stagnating for the last decade or so, not getting any better or worse. the cutaway is no longer the show's default joke, which now seems to be "dry, witless observation of whatever harmless minor aspect of society is mildly bothering the writers this week." my point is, family guy wasn't always like this, so it doesn't have to stay like this.

0:56 They borrowed that from the Simpsons and Family Guy has been doing that since the early years. They call it the first act miss lead. In the Art of Family Guy book they said they think of the funny idea first then think "how do we build up to that". In some episodes, it works well. One example of an episode doing this well is Turban Cowboy Peter kept skydiving and got impaled on a skyscraper. He then meets a Muslim person in the hospital and becomes friends with him. It might be a little crazy to start with Peter in the hospital.

Here's the thing, the reason I would be more inclined to say yes, just like I would Modern Spongebob is because at this point it doesn't really matter if the show is good or has produced a good episode when it's past the point of an active discussion. Hardly anybody goes out of their way to review or talk about the show anymore, and even if you can find good episodes it's buried in a messy pile that I don't think people want to spend time waiting for an episode to air or finding an episode that would be good, when they could just watch more engaging shows. And that seems harsh to be dunking on the show's quality, but there is such a thing as too late. Which is the case for Family Guy and Spongebob, while they aren't the hatestains they once were, they also came too late that their engagement with people has left actively. When the creator isn't actively involved with the show and just does voice over, that should be a clear sign. And in Spongebob's case, whenever I do hear laughs or discussions about the show its often references of the show's humor in its glory days.
As a side note, I'm really not a fan of how people still tight panties about a character or action have being mean spirited (like slapstick) when I thought we've grown beyond whining about something being mean. Don't get me wrong, there is such a thing as being mean in a bad way, but there's also being good in a bad way too. And too often do I see people go back to review older shows and characters or even current and use "mean spirited bad" and feels as if characters or shows can't be mean anymore or a character can't have active flaws, their flaws have to be passive like "they lack focus" to be considered a tolerable flaw. Which to me seems a little regressive. Like I said, if you want to use the argument "it's how they are written" the same excuse applies to anything you write, it's all about execution. And me personally, I miss when characters were flawed or had more ridged exteriors, now it feels like characters have to feel passive and samey. Especially if they are female.
The issue with Family Guy's brand of "mean" humor is the show doesn't really do it very well, the joke is that 'they are mean" with not really commentary, slapstick or jokes in there. They kind of just tell the same jokes with the characters, like Brian using women for sex or being a liberal douche, while also being a Know-nothing Know it all. or Lois having Stewie's old gag of hating her family but done worse because it just makes Lois less appealing as a character. And how Bonnie's only joke is that she hates Joe, which is her only personality, yes, it's mean spirited, but her issues is how one note it is and makes Bonnie unlikable as a result. The show doesn't know how to write unlikable characters well or even characters with flaws, that's always been the issue post revival. That and the mean humor often clashes with their lowbrow gags and repetitive jokes..

Lois and Peter's relationship has always been questionable but has gotten better
Meg has quite a few episodes where she wins and gets what see wants
      Emmy/Oscar references oh well
And who cares if they steal from the Simpsons the show was always a clone.

Idk. For me it's a hatred that stays because of what older episodes set up it's like a simpsons paradox where the early seasons/episodes were so good that you want them to be that quality in the future but they aren't. Also Family guy has a bunch of re-used jokes specifically cutaways and the whole meg thing which was completely stupid cause they tried to spin it as Meg NEEDED to be bullied in order to keep the family together when in reality it's Peter's issues that would tear it apart not Meg standing up for herself. But I just can't find myself enjoying it too much anymore but this is just a comment on a YT Video.

Maybe I just don't like how early stuff was "random jokes," then middle stuff was highly political, and then after I've only ever been tricked by ratings traps (Brian dying, Simpsons Guy, Send in Stewy Please, and then the one with "we're going to redub an old episode" or whatever that was), but I just haven't ever really enjoyed it and think "no, if anything it isn't hated enough."

The people who hate on the show should at least give Family Guy some props for trying to still be funny with their jokes. Family Guy isn't as gruesome with some of their dark jokes like they were 10 years ago, and every now and then, they make decent episodes. The problem is, FOX keeps putting stress on these shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy to make more episodes and honestly, they've been milking it to the point where they can barely find any new plot lines for the episodes because of how long it's been going on for. The Simpsons hardly does Couch Gags anymore, and I even think Seth MacFarlane said he wanted to end the show sooner then later. Unfortunately, money brings out the greed in the corporate companies.

This is my opinion on Family Guy. Season 1- 18 is flawless. Season 19 is awful. The episodes have slower pacing. The jokes don't come as quick as they used to and the plots have less energy than the older episodes. Compare the pacing of a season 4 episode to a season 19 episode. They don't have nearly as many cutaway gags. Some episodes have 1 cutaway, some have 2 cutaways, some have 3, and some have none. I think the Average Family Guy episode should have at least 4 cutaways. They often repeated the same joke over and over again in the same episode. Watch the episodes back to back and you will see what I mean. This is especially true in La Familia Guy. There were so many poorly written storylines. *Example:* The Young Parent Trap. Peter and Lois pretend to be young to fit in with the hipsters. The plot is too stupid they should be able to tell that they are at least 40 just by looking at them. Meg and Chris later find out Peter and Lois are pretending to be hipsters so they dress up as hipsters and annoy them until they crack. The plot would be over in two seconds if Chris and Meg showed up with a family picture. Season 20 is much better than season 19. It still has some of the problems of season 19 but they stopped repeating the same joke over and over in the same episode and the storylines have better writing overall. This annoying new side character named Doug started to take over the season. Halfway through the season, 21 Family Guy becomes Family Guy again. In the episode the Candidate, they brought back the fast pacing, they had a good amount of cutaway gags, it was funny all the way through, and the storyline was good.
