    Thanks for another really helpful video this week!
    Here's an interesting topic of some consternation among pipe makers. What sort of criteria do you use to decide whether or not to sandblast a pipe?
    From discussions I've seen, the level of "perfection" in the grain which is acceptable in a smooth pipe varies from school to school and from pipe maker to pipe maker. It seems that many american makers go by the mantra "if there's any doubt, blast away" whereas some Japanese carvers purportedly care much less about sand pits or small flaws. I've heard some who claim to only produce about 1 smooth pipe in 10 or less, while others seem to consistently produce a much higher proportion than that.
    What are your criteria (if you're willing to share) and why do you think the topic seems to be a contentious one? I.e The Market effects of the perceived rarity of smooth pipes, a general favorable trend towards blasts, the morality of "hiding" flaws, etc.
