I hated this parkrun! 😂 The hill on the way back nearly saw me off! But the volunteers are fab, very cheerful and the best cheers I’ve ever had at a finish line. Great times both. Look forward to the next video.
Well done Dawn! Brilliant run, and a great video too - thanks to you both for keeping them coming. Looks like a great course full of interest - one that is now going on our ‘to do list’!
Well done on the age cat record. Looks like a decent parkrun. I get a bit bored on there and backs but with a bit of elavation and a couple of detours this route looks interesting. Only Welsh parkrun I’ve done was Penrhyn that was amazing
Great running Dawn! Looks like a lovely day out. Will you be doing a parkrun 2024 review video? I have enjoyed the ones you've done in previous years giving me tourism ideas as I approach my own Cowell later in the year.
Well done Dawn. Being competitive comes more easily to some than others. I am a little competitive and when I'm in the mood for it I LOVE IT. Over Christmas I got a new Penistone parkrun pb of 22:17. On that field of mud I was particularly pleased
Thanks. Yes, I'm competitive mostly...As you say though I do have to be in the mood. 😀 Well done on your pb. Very pleasing on the muddy field. More to come...👍
I was laughing at the commentary today - I'm a bit like Dawn....not always interested in the competitive side. Can't believe that younger woman only ending up a second or so ahead! Well done Dawn!
John ! ….. il just let u hear dawn not trying 🤦♀️😂😂 btw John u done an excellent John of turning into a race horse commentator at the end !! and lastly but by no means least CONGRATULATIONS dawn on ur 1st in age group and 2nd female….. im sure if u wanted to u could have taken bouncy lady 🤭😉
Congratulations on the course record - shame parkrun no longer recognises these achievements. I find it a bit odd, but never mind. Well done on finding a parkrun that wasn’t cancelled as several of them were down near me. You found a great one too!
Thanks. Yes, it's a shame as there's no position to go for in age groups, just the overall record. Looks like a few could be cancelled this weekend, too, but with ice this time...
Dawn you are such a fantastic runner. Have you always been a runner? At what age did you take up running? I am a bit despondent after 4 years of intermittent running (due to the odd injury) it is taking me a long time to get my time downs to just under 29 minutes. I can’t imagine being good enough to do 5 minute kilometres. Congratulations on a great run.
Thank you. I ran for a short period as a child, but only for a couple of years. I then didn't start until I was 34 and haven't looked back since! I love it and run every day. 🙂 In my years of running, the biggest improvement has come with consistency, and obviously, to do that is to remain injury free. It's not always easy... Keep on working at being consistent because that's where improvement comes. 🙂
"Bouncy Lady" - classic! Yeah bit of a myth all railways are flat. One I have used a fair bit is Cuckoo Trail in Sussex which is a good 2% downhill south from Heathfield for a few miles. Fast start that way and good end of marathon simulation back up. Some of the competitive "chat" here MARM would be proud of :) PS finish under a railway bridge - nice - unless your GPS watch plays up!
Haha, yes, the lady had the bound of youth...😀 Luckily, the finish was just before entering the bridge, so there is probably not enough time to interfere with GPS.
Well done. It’s the kind of run I’m tempted to have another go at when I’m fit. So the question for John is what time do you think you’d run the course at a ‘going for it pace’ and are you likely to return to have another go one day ? 😁 it’s the only run I’ve done recently that reminds you how to run fast again. 👍
Well it's very close to Barnsley on the fastest parkrun list so I'd say just under 21 mins. Would I do it again? I wouldn't not do it again, particularly if there was something to chase. It's a great place to be and a thinking person's course. And there we have the folly of parkrun removing the stats. I would perhaps target a top 50 age cat position but we can only see the overall records on the app.
Well done Dawn! Looks like a great course - thanks for all the insight 😊
Thank you. 👍
I hated this parkrun! 😂 The hill on the way back nearly saw me off! But the volunteers are fab, very cheerful and the best cheers I’ve ever had at a finish line. Great times both. Look forward to the next video.
Haha it was a tough second half for sure! I was willing it to finish, too. 😆
Brilliant Dawn well done 🎉🎉
Thanks. 😁
Looking forward to both your journeys for the Brighton marathon good luck 👍🙏
Thanks 👍
Well done Dawn. Brilliant run that!!!
Thanks 👍 😊
Well done Dawn! Brilliant run, and a great video too - thanks to you both for keeping them coming. Looks like a great course full of interest - one that is now going on our ‘to do list’!
Thanks. I'm sure you won't be disappointed when you get to do it. 👍
Another superb video. You really smashed that record, Dawn 💪🏃♀️ Well done.
Looks like it might be a bit chilly at Queen's Park on Saturday 🥶😁
Thanks, Mark. Yes, most definitely will need a warm-up for that one!
Well done on the age cat record. Looks like a decent parkrun. I get a bit bored on there and backs but with a bit of elavation and a couple of detours this route looks interesting. Only Welsh parkrun I’ve done was Penrhyn that was amazing
Yes we did the inaugural there. North Wales tends to have the scenic and interesting. South Wales the fast ones like Cardiff and Bryn Bach.
Well done!! looks an tough-ish narrow course, with slippy mud to catch out the unwary.
Thanks. It wasn't too narrow in all honesty. Or I didn't notice it to be. Maybe would be noticeable with a bigger number of parkrunners...
That looks like a fab course. Happy new year to you both!
You too! Yes, a very good course! 👍
Well done Dawn! Really enjoyed the banter on the commentary.
Thank you. John is a 'card' at times...😀
Hey! That's me in the orange t-shirt at the start😅 glad you enjoyed it, great course
Haha. Glad you got on camera. 😅 Yes, a really good thinking person's course....Off too fast and you're toast. 🤣
Great running Dawn! Looks like a lovely day out. Will you be doing a parkrun 2024 review video? I have enjoyed the ones you've done in previous years giving me tourism ideas as I approach my own Cowell later in the year.
Thanks.
We did one on the fastest parkruns we've done this year but not all parkruns. 🙂
Well done Dawn - Interesting course
Thanks 👍
Awesomeness 🎉
Thanks 👍 🙂
Buzzing great start to the new year keep it up and look forward to more great videos
Thank you 😊
Well done, I thought you would get the record by a long way looking at the 3km split, despite the uphill finish.
Thanks. Me too, despite John saying otherwise...😅
The year is off to a great start! Congrats Dawn!
Thanks, Chloe. 😊

It's not on our plans for a while. Probably in the summer
Thankyou enjoyed that Park run presentation
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed. 👍
I was laughing at the commentary today - I'm a bit like Dawn....not always interested in the competitive side. Can't believe that younger woman only ending up a second or so ahead! Well done Dawn!
Thanks. I was surprised I closed the gap as much as I did. A couple more metres who knows...😅

Could have would have should have 😀.Yes channeling my inner Crown My Run there 😉
Great run well done, Greenfield is very much a park run of 2 halves!
Thanks. Yes, as I found out. 😀
Well done Dawn. Smashed it ✊
Thanks 👍
Lol hilarious! Well done 👏
Glad you enjoyed 😀

Well done Dawn! Obviously not a race 😂
Thanks. Hmm...🙃
Where to next?
Not sure. We often don't make up our minds until the day before.
@tworunningbrooms if you're close by, Wepre's a fun one 😅
@breaksbassbleeps ah yes remember the 'fun' from a few years ago 😀
Well run Dawn 👏👏👏
Thanks 👍

@ thank you so much for your reply. I will be consistent AND a bit more patient. 😁
