Cold ass song. Loved all the b-sides type joints off the Massacre album. You're right, 50's hook game is amongst the elite in hip hop history. For a few years there, he couldn't miss. Not the biggest fan of Eminem's production, but he nailed this one. On a real sound system, the drums and the mixing on this one go stupid.
I forgot Em made this beat. Yeah, hard AF Just so you know...he put out a DVD with the album with videos from all these songs from this album. So this song has a music video out there somewhere. Maybe not his official channel...but im sure the gunitvideos channel.
I didn't like the Massacre when it came out, back then I didn't think it was hard enough and lacked the energy his previous music had. Then came Wayne then Kanye and Drake and suddenly The Massacre sounded like a masterpiece especially when you compare it to the mumble rapping Muppets of the last few years.
How you gonna mention Wayne and Kanye and act like their albums are worse than 50s 💀 I love 50s music but none of his albums hold a candle to tha carter 3 or college dropout
This is one of the many songs that when 50 is, hopefully still kicking, when he's 80, people still won't try them. I feel like he's the only person in the mainstream who has professional hitters behind him
His writing ability is part of why he got signed. Interscope loved the fact that they didnt need to find a ghostwriter or producer to really help out much with the recording process. 50 knew what he was going for and how to market himself in his music. His artistry was catered to the marketing. They went hand in hand. Point is is that Interscope's priority, like many labels, was to figure out a way to market Fif. The mixtapes, tour and popularity aligned. But when you as an artist can make your punchlines and writing meanginful in a record, it makes it so much easier for the label to not interfere lol. 50 was already true artist with his craft. He just happened to be marketed well. Lol. Its not like many artists today where they gain a following but after a certain time, they werent able to sustain that. Because they werent talented enough to prolong it. They had a niche. They got lucky with a nice hook and clever rhymes. But they never really had it in them. They just had something marketable for a short duration and couldnt make a few more records to follow and sustain it more for a few years.
Damn... I remember when i was kid and l was listening to this album. I had (and still have) the k7 tape. I really loved this title and still love it. One of the best from fifty. For sure, he's one of the best rapper !
I've met a lot of 50 cent fans they say The Massacre is his best album after listening to the album again I get that, please listening The Massacre it's amazing
His mixtapes is what made his market explode. Those are y he had tours all over then Em signed him. Interscope did what they were supposed to do when someone was that hot. He made himself hot.
50’s no backpack cypher MC . But his hooks and Melodic flows were what made him great . He had to write Al the hooks for a lot of the songs on Each g unit member’s solo album . Plus his albums and the g unit album
