It's not really a fair comparison, with all manufacturers the Euro 5 engines were much simpeler than the Euro 6 ones. In fact I'd say that Daf did comparatively well with their earlier 2013-2016 Euro 6 trucks. The 2017-2021 ones are not as good I'd say.

Thank you for the comment👌. Connecting the new BPV should let it do a regeneration as its looking for the position that your old one won't be reaching. But what will that do to the actual regeneration process? I don't know, as I've never just plugged one in and carried out a regeneration. Fingers crossed, I suppose 🙈
I god a active P1496 fault ON and 9 records of P1710/P1711 about nox sensor before CAT. In this situation may be the nox sensor that trigger the P1496 fault?
When in engine protection the bpv gets moved to 100 percent open but the EGR closes to 0 percent. The truck also locks the VTG at 100% open......this is a fail-safe mode for the truck to operate in until it's repaired 👍 The downside of this protection mode was Nox production, which is why you see DPF's stuck in the exhaust full of AdBlue. The adblue system tried to compensate for the excessive Nox levels with adblue 🫣
@autobild01 I don't think soot production would increase (I'd need to check the AFR to see what it was under normal operating conditions vs protection mode) Last thing you need is a blocked DPF too lol All I know is Nox levels would increase hence the software update in 2018 fixes the excessive adblue condition under protection. Hi. As a driver it’s great watching and learning the ins and outs of the faults and the rectification process to get rid of those bloody P-dings!!! I’ve recently had my BPV changed on a 16 plate MX11, would this alter the performance of the engine brake in any way? I don’t feel as if mine is working as efficiently compared to the old one. Truck is automatic and changes down but doesn’t seem to have the retardation of old. Thanks for reading and awesome videos.
Hey thanks for the comment! the fact you understand the systems is always a bonus from a technician's point of view as the more information on an issue you can give a technican the better when you want it fixed! As for your BPV issue, the part itself is what is called a smart actuator and processes all its own faults and positional data. If the engine is requesting a position or pressure for the turbo.....the motor will move it to that position....say 3 per cent for regeneration. If its unable to reach the desired position you will get a DTC just like in this video. This is the "requested" and "actual position" I'd be looking at in monitoring data with a diagnostic tool So if its not performing correctly you should have an error.
Hi, no faults since new BPV fitted, also had the fuel cut off air valve replaced and a couple of NOX sensors, personally I think the BPV has been faulty for a few months as been having faults for months so maybe I was spoiled as it was not working properly.
