"Starchild’s nemesis is Sir Nose D’Voidoffunk, Sir Nose attempts to end the Funk because he is too cool to dance. He is the master of the Placebo Syndrome, which causes unFunkiness (a combination of stupidity and no dancing). His goal is to place the minds of all humanity into a state called the Zone of Zero Funkativity.
Exactly, & Dr. Funkenstien developed the Bop Gun and gave to his clone Star Child to take on Sir Nose... and with a flash of light he was defeated. This song and album was round 2 of their confrontation that took place underwater in Atlantis. The Gloryhallstoopid album was round 3... Sir nose lost all 3 of course.
Aqua boogie, the ability to dance under water and not get wet. "What did the blowfish say to the shark, got anything for the hammerhead". This album had many studio effects which couldn't fully be replicated in their live performances. I remember it being said in a documentary. "Go Wiggle".....
I always took Sir Nose as a metaphor for someone who goes to a party or a dance club but won't dance on the dance floor because they are too afraid or actually thinks they are too cool. The idea is to loosen them up and get them to just let down and not care about who's looking or care about how they look dancing. 🤷🏿♂️
*Overton Loyd is the artist. He also drew the whole Motor Booty Affair, which was underwater. That's why you hear all the water word play. *In the commercial for this album, the bird caught Sir Nose and flew around with him in his mouth. "Put me down...turn me loose."
Overton did excellent work. He tends to be overlooked because the covers Pedro Bell did for Funkadelic are so iconic. Especially on the Westbound albums where they didn't try to restrict him like Warner did.
When listening to P-Funk it helps to know that several of the musicians were raised and schooled on hard bop jazz. Also sometimes the band members got high and would just make up words for fun. Things could sound weird as long as they sounded funky from the first beat of the measure. Keep it funky and stay on the one!!!
Bootsy's Rubber Band had a song called The Pinocchio Theory. If you fake the funk your nose will grow. It gave birth to Sir Nose Dvoid of Funk which was introduced in Parliaments "Funkentelechy vs The Placebo Syndrome. Starchild who was introduced in the Mothership Connection was the guardian of the Funk. Starchild created the Bop Gun to get Sir Nose to dance to the rhythm of The Flashlight. From the Funkentelechy lp. This song Aqua Boogie is the lp after which was done underwater. Where Starchild must get him to dance underwater.. Hope that helps.. now look for The Pinocchio Theory (Bootsy), The Bop Gun, (Parliament) and Sir Nose Dvoid of funk (Parliament) and The Theme from the Black Hole (Parliament) and put the puzzle together ..
I think you hearing the mastery of the Juilliard student himself, Bernie Worrell on keys and scoring and directing of the music. He's on another level and to me, is P-Funk. Been there since the beginning. He's played with so many people. I saw him in the Talking Heads movie/live show! He gets with Bill Laswell and does good stuff. I recommend, "Material: Live In Japan" and Praxis, "Transmutation" (also featuring Bootsy Collins!). Thank you for reacting to P-Funk!!
It is a crying shame that Walter "Junie" Morrison does not get his flowers. This whole song is basically him. Bernie layed that moog bass down but the arrangement is all Junie. May he rest in peace. The entire album is dope. Liquid sunshine all day long.
This was the fourth and final of the 4 consecutive albums that along with One Nation, and Uncle Jam, put P-Funk on a level of popularity only EWF could reach.
GREETINGS. The character on the album cover is SIR NOSE D'VOIDOFFUNK. One of my favourite PARLIAMENT albums. ......as a matter of fact, one of my favourite albums period. Great concept album showcasing the genius of GEORGE CLINTON. Keep them coming. EVERYTHING IS IN DIVINE ORDER.
Starchild and Doctor funkenstein are trying to get him to dance that's why they were trying to shine the flashlight on him Etc he says he's never going to dance
Great reaction. Sir nose de void of funk. Saw them in person. Amazing show. He can really dance. He lives not too far from me. He lives in St. Louis. I have seen the landing of the mothership on stage.
I was at their landing of the Mother Ship concert at the old Checkerdome in St. Louis back in the 70's and if you don't get high you was going to get tore down from the floor down with all the weed smoking in the crowd and down on the stage.
Naw Young blood, not 2 songs playing at once. The keyboard player Bernie Worrell was a classical trained player and he puts those classical flavors in with the funk. He also plays that mean ass bass keyboard lines!!! R.I.P. Bernie Worrell
Aquaboogie is one song in a series of 3. If you want to get the whole musical story, listen to the album this one is on and the one after it--the one with Flashlight on it.
Jammin, Just call him "Sir Nose" and yes his deal is never to dance. Starchild and Sir Nose are enemies to the point that Starchild had to shoot Sir Nose with the "Bop Gun". Starchild was sent by Dr. Funkenstein to save dance music from being blah.....That's it in a nutshell....simple funk opera....
Now we talking....this was my ish back n the day!!!! I think I was 12 when this came out. That bird is the one making that squawking noise all through the song and that's Sir Nose on album cover
This is what u call ORGANIC…George Clinton just let everyone do what they wanted and Aqua Boogie is one of the classics from that.. just organic FUNK thru and thru
the Great Bernie Worrell on keyboard..better recocognize! I had a backstage pass during the motor booty affair tour. My friend asked Clinton how did he come up with Aquaboogie...he said he was sitting on his yacht one day, totally f'd up and he saw dolphins come up and say they wanted to funk too.
One of my greatest memories is seeing their Motor Booty Affair tour in the UK when I wasa teenager. My mom had come to a few soul concerts with me and she announced that she was coming to this. I tried to put her off but she was stubborn. We were the only white people in the crowd and i was embarrassed when my mum got up and started dancing before everyone else. The guy next to me said my mom was cool and I replied do you want to take her home with you? In the end it was a fantastic party and she even smoked hash for the first time. They even had a50 year old white English woman funking
The artist is Overton Lloyd. He and Pedro Bell did all the art on the album. The guy on the cover is Sir Noise D'Void of Funk. He's the character on is Flashlight and songs who doesn't like funky music.
"I don't recognize that dude." THAT DUDE?!? That Dude?? You need to talk to your parents 'cause you 'bout ta make me come outta retirement!! Betta recognize...youngun!
Psycho-alpha-disco-beta-bio-aqua-do-loop. A- motion- picture under water starring most of you loops. There is a long version. Bernie Worrell played classic with funk piano.
The words they are saying on the song you can't figure out, Are the words on the album cover you wouldnt try to read. The sub titles are usually in the song lyrics. Yes. The hip hop artists of the 90s listened to their parents records. SIR NOSE DEVOID OF FUNK. (Sir nose d'voidoffunk)
Sir Nose represents all of those poor souls who just can't feel the funk. Uptight persons. Can't let loose, but they need to. The longer this joke went on, the sillier it got. For me, it got in the way of some serious music. Bernie Worrell cutting up on the synthesizers and that piano, jazzed out.
"Starchild’s nemesis is Sir Nose D’Voidoffunk, Sir Nose attempts to end the Funk because he is too cool to dance. Lol, thanks for the breakdown.

Sir Nose is devoid of funk. Meaning he has no funk and you can't be around Parliament and not be funked up.
That pretty much sums it up.
YEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!! OMG.
Bernie Worrell did his thing on this one. RIP
BERNIE
When the bass finally drops from the Moog, you realise your basking in absolute greatness
Aqua boogie, the ability to dance under water and not get wet. "What did the blowfish say to the shark, got anything for the hammerhead". This album had many studio effects which couldn't fully be replicated in their live performances. I remember it being said in a documentary. "Go Wiggle".....
YES!! Parliament was so unique. .now you see why they were sampled so much.
I’m glad these young folks are listening to some real music!!!
An underwater funk concept album. Only Parliament could do this.
"You're a Fish and I'm a Water Sign" is one of my favorites!
One of my favorite Parliament/Funkadelic cuts.....as kid at that time, me and brother would play this record over and over and over!!!!

Starchild and Doctor funkenstein are trying to get him to dance that's why they were trying to shine the flashlight on him Etc he says he's never going to dance
That tune inside of the song you heard at the end is the children's song " Mary Had A Little Lamb "
Finally, “Aqua Boogie”, If U ❤️ P-Funk, no comments necessary. Peace!
This is true

That's why Star Child shot him with The Bop Gun to make Sure Nose Devoid of Funk dance.

dr dre made $400 million from jams like this
@john slaymark That whole 90’s west coast sound was based off George Clinton/ Parliament’s music
Yeah man it’s kinda sad to that the ones who created it didn’t really benefited from what they did. Dr Dre became filthy rich off there sound 😟
