How anyone can't get into this song is just BEYOND me! It is so extraordinarily composed, you never know what to expect. it's an orchestra of funk. For someone who didn't get into it, reading your body language ie dancing, shows the opposite. It was quite a big hit. Nobody makes music like this anymore not these later generations. It's an education.

Fay I'm going to slowly tell you about the "Funk Opera" of Parliament-Funkadelic and its cast of characters. 'Dr. Funkenstein' sent his herald 'Starchild' to bring the funk to us because the music has become 'blah.' Starchild encountered his nemesis 'Sir Nose D'void-of-funk (Sir Nose) who is trying to stop the funk from going to the masses. 'Sir Nose' is totally against dancing, partying, and having fun, and he hates water. Starchild had to use his 'Bop Gun' to make Sir Nose dance. The other characters in the funk opera that you already met are 'Starchild' who is the "Mothership Connection" and you've met "Uncle Jam." I haven't introduced you to 'Sir Nose' or Mr. Wiggles, but you will be meeting "Rumpofsteelskin" in a couple of days. You've also met Bootsy Collins and had a "F-Encounter" and "What's a Telephone Bill, but you haven't met his alter-ego "Bootszilla," and you may have to learn "The Pinocchio Theory." George Clinton uses a lot of metaphors and figurative language in their songs and the lyrics on the surface may seem not to make sense. That's why in "Funkentelechy" you have to pay attention. Fay I just have to bring you along slowly until you become a 'Funk-a-Teer' and 'Rubber Fan.'

I saw the Motor Booty A fair concert 1979 Los Angeles colosseum may 29th. 20 years old. It started at 11:30 am and had over 12 groups. Rick James Sister Sledge Con Funkshun The brides of DR Fukienstine Parlet. Bootsy's Rubber band. Concert went til 1am . So many memories I was a true Funkateer.

I've listened to song hundreds of times, but never thought about the meaning of "A psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop." I looked up each syllable and came up with this is, A mind first dance second to live in water and do it again....This reiterates the lyrics dancing through live in rhythm even though our heads are underwater with problems and living another day to do it again......Aqua boogie baby.....This really about perspective is the glass half empty or half full......the choice is yours.....

Foundational Black American music at its best during the 1970's. The johnny-come-latelys who never went to the concerts in the seventies missed out and didn't experience P-Funk in its rawest purest best form.
