Set the hook in a swift motion in opposite direction, not a ripping motion. A ripping motion will rip hook right out of their mouths. I use 15# braid on a 6'6" medium rod and I rip them up through the lillys. As soon as they grab it, let them go under with it, then swiftly set the hook opposite direction and rod high and start reeling to rip them up through the Lillie's. Otherwise they'll go downwards and spit the hook.
