Ex Marine Sgt here 57-59. I wish I had gone in Coast a guard after the Marines! Been looking at Coast Guard videos etc for many years and have a lot of respect for you. All of you be proud you deserve it. Love the vids about schools and training. Your explanations and videos are so clear and informative. Semper peratas.

😅 called vet hot line for help once.
Kid on other end said "you weren't real military, I lost a battle buddy."
First thing I was taught as #1 boat engineer, was "don't get attached to the meat", meaning, I sometimes had to make hard decisions in the moment.

@3:28.. every time I see a Security Class cutter bobbing around in the background, with those BIG BIG picture windows on the bridge, the ship just doesn't look right. Looks like a toy or something. The Mackinaw looks the same way. They put those life-size windows on the bridge and IMO, looks a little goofy but that's just my version. I'm sure it gives great visibility but I would never guess by the picture, that ship is over 400ft long. But then again, I always thought the 270s looked like floating Chevy El Caminos and the SeaHawk/Shearwater (Surface Effect Ships aka SES) looked like a shoebox with Kleenex box tapped to it.

When I served, we were smaller than the NYPD. did not have too many women. Percentage wise, a higher death rate than any other branch. Have been deployed with navy seal team out of ADAK 4x, with army and navy. Drug and fishery patrols 378 whec Rush

Thank you for your service, new to the channel, not enlisted or officer but I am an operational member United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, I am also in the process of becoming a civilian sailor for the Department of Navy working on aircraft carriers, I would have never gotten my chance to get my foot into becoming a sailor and receiving qualifications, training, and knowledge of the maritime industry if it weren’t for the Coast Guard, definitely does not receive the respect it is past due for.

      William,
Thanks for your appreciation and taking the time out of your day to watch my content and leaving a comment, it means a lot. I hope to do a video on the CG Auxiliary as well. I might have to reach out to you in the future to get more info on the Auxiliary.

@William Kake. Hey, shout out to the CGAUX. Very unknown tool in the CG's go bag. Utilized the Aux a lot on Lake St Clair and my god, without the Aux on the Ohio river, we would not have been able to respond to 80% of our SAR cases. I was a RM2 at GruOHR in the early 80's. I did the SAR incident reports for our AOR that were sent in by the Aux. We had like over 400 cases a year and the vast majority were handled by our Aux. Even had a couple of Aux aircraft guys that would fly from time to time. Great work you do.

His video was great and definitely encouraged people to look into the Coast Guard. I didn’t realize he was a comedian until after I made my video.

Thanks for a great video that may do wonders for recruiting. This really explains the multi task, and the switch from costal defence to wartime. Well said. Do I detect a polar roller on the wall over your right shoulder. MY POLAR ROLLER BROTHER! NLKL... Bravo Zulu,

Your right about the recognition. It's only since President Trump that there has been much reference to the service or praise for it. I do hear much more about it in fact when I joined it was in the Vietnam era. I was always going to join the Navy but I received some info in the mail and on the way to the Navy recruiter I was walking past the USCG recruiter and turned in. My recruiter was straight with me and I never went to the Navy recruiter. I was lucky enough that the year I joined Vietnam was starting to come to an end but I knew Coasties that served over there. We left a bunch of 82's over there. By the way. Glad y'all got away from those stupid pull over shirts someone for a short period thought was cool. I personally liked the older chambray shirts and dungarees at the time. I too have wondered why at times I see Navy and Coast guard wearing camo aboard ship. At least in the movies.

Both Bush Presidents loved the CG. I was stationed with a guy who was the boat operator every time the senior went to Kennebunkport Maine and went out in his fishing boat. Years later the Bush Senior was still in touch.

Thanks for watching the video and commenting, I appreciate it. Good luck with getting your GED and working on your credit. In regards to your credit you just have to make sure you don’t have anything in collections or pass due.

Looking forward to the next video! I'd love to hear a breakdown of the PA rate you mentioned in your last video. I was Army PA and went through training with a couple of CG dudes. One was well into his second, and another almost finishing his first enlistment. Maybe talk about how time as a non-rate works for us dirt eaters.

    • @fysawareness5002
      @fysawareness5002  2 роки тому +1

@RyanScott thanks for taking the time out of your day to watch my content. I truly appreciate it. I just talked to a PA yesterday about making a video about their rate and conducting an interview. Definitely going to make it happen.
Making a Non-Rate video Is a great idea. Almost everyone who joins the CG has to go through their non-rate phase and most people don’t know what to expect.
      Thanks for the suggestion.
      Hoorah!! Brother
      Respectfully,
      Doss

While I'd love to see a deep dive into those careers, what I really appreciate about your channel is the uh... seasoned.. perspective you have.
The kids I mentor who are pursuing the military typically just want to know about boot camp, AIT/ASchool, and what their first (and probably only) enlistment will look like. I love being able to give them info about their MOS/Rate, but I can't give them a peek into how their career may look in 10-15 years outside of my Army experience.
Your BM video was great! It had a great focus on what life as a BM will look like once the days of driving a boat are behind someone. I always advise my kiddos to look at the Air Force or CG if they're thinking about the military, but it's SO difficult to find any information about what jobs look like after a second, third, or fourth enlistment.
      Keep up the great work!

Ask any fisherman who was rescued from death in a frigid waters off Alaska or off a pleasure boat sinking somewhere.
