You're not being stingy, tight or mean - I quite agree that £80 is a piss take. I could get a good quality model railway loco for that money and that's a hobby which got criticism for being far too unrealistically priced. Clubs are expecting fans to find £210 for a set of replica shirts!!? They can jog on. I used to think "wow, £40?" but then a home shirt would last 2 seasons and maybe even an away kit would be a 3rd strip sometimes. But no, I'm sorry there is no justification for asking twice the price but it's lifespan being only half as long. Today I picked up a Scoredraw Newcastle 1993 blue away shirt for £23 & I can customise it with an "ASiCS" logo to make it authentic. I used to have my original but it's about £200 and I wouldn't risk wearing it anyway. But NUFC are planning to make a retro away shirt and I would rather get a fake version of the Adidas 1995/96 shirt that it's based on, than waste a lot more money on a new thing. They'll be down in price by next April anyway 😕
I find when I buy jerseys of dhgate I always get the player version “authentic” because both the badges on the front always look better when there “heat pressed” on instead of stitched on and they are always closer to being in the right spot !
Found this quite interesting. The fakes are getting so good now, I don’t blame people for saving the pennies, especially if you have children that love the shirts too
Dortmund 1995-96 stood out a mile as a fake. BVB badge wrong, Dortmund on back and sponsor fonts are bolder on the original, colour of the shirt is more fluorescent greenish on the original and not as yellow as the fake also the original has the pattern in the material where as the fake is plain. Still got my original that I bought back then. Love it. Only bought it in first place as I'm a SWFC fan and the Blades in the 90s had a great away kit that was the same colour. Couldn't buy their shirt, saw the Dortmund one and got that.
Most of these “fake” shirts are coming out of the same factories as the shirts that hit the fan shop. Difference is there is no middle man (the team) marking up prices so they can sell them at much more reasonable prices. There are some really shady online shops (ie some sellers on DH gate) that do a shady job and you can tell it’s fake but, Ive received several shirts from other sites and you could not tell the difference at all between the online shop in china I ordered from and the actual team shop shirt sitting side by side.

Great video! Here in India, football's popularity has steadily been rising and a lot of people have started buying their favourite club's shirts. Most of them are "fakes", since the originals cost too much. Many people cannot afford them. In their defence, the cost of simply making a fake shirt is probably the same as that of an original shirt. Original shirts cost so much more because of sponsors, taxes, dealers cut, etc. I've always gone with the fact that the "fakes" are more like factory rejects; at least the player versions because it's impossible to find a difference between them and the originals.
I kinda like the new United top. I'm not sure on the club badge for the goalie one but big fan of the sponsor. I think the away kit (that and the 3rd are already on soccer 03) are nice.
Back then they were more affordable and would be around for 2 seasons so you could justify the money couldn’t you… now the generic designs which only last a season :(
Absolutely no time for Manchester United, but those early 90s shirts were nice. The red with laced collar, blue with black collar and the halved Newton Heath were very smart kits. The material on 90s shirts was better than the crappy thin things being produced now as well.....

The new United top could pass for a Liverpool top. If that had a Liver bird instead of a United badge it would look better. And I mean that because theres no black on there that would differentiate it being a United top
If I could change it, I would make the brighter red stripes on the side and shorts black instead. I like the new sponsor but the kit looks cheap in quality.
