Someone explain how this works please? Because St. Louis puts in an offer for these players, their cap hit goes up? Regardless if they accept it or not? Or is it just an obvious answer, like they were offered more so they'll more than likely take it?
Teams are allowed to send offers to other teams’ restricted free agents. In this case, Edmonton can either match the offer the Blues have sent in and keep those players for those contracts or they can let the Blues have them and receive draft pick compensation, according to which bracket the offered cap hits fall into. It effectively removes the Oilers’ agency to negotiate with those players, they either keep them or “trade” them, a week from the offer sheet. Theoretically, the Oilers would want to keep 2 players they spent 1st round picks on, as they’d only get like a 2nd and a 3rd for not matching, but you never know. The reason it’s a big deal is because Edmonton is strapped for cap space rn and if Draisaitl and McDavid don’t take discounts, the team could become significantly weaker over the next 2-3 years as a result of being tied up in big contracts. What likely happens is Kane goes on LTIR, they match the offer sheets, and then figure it out next off-season or at this year’s deadline, giving them a few more good windows for a cup run. Regardless of if it goes through or not, 2 offer sheets that have a chance of succeeding is very rare, so it’s exciting. (I also get to write essays on the internet on them. XD)

Disaster class for oilers can’t get rid of Vinny and Broburg like who are you going to put with Nurse Broburgs puck carrying is what brought Nurse back from the dead in the playoffs
Sounds more like they just did the Oilers a favour. Showing them two guys who aren't interested in being there, and they'll be giving away a 2nd and 3rd round pick for doing so. Broberg isn't going anywhere in this league, at least, no higher than 3rd pairing, or emergency 2nd pairing. That Broberg contract offer, is absolutely idiotic. Holloway has some upside to him, and maybe EDM will match his, but, do you really want a guy in your locker room, that just signed a paper to get out of your locker room? In any case, thank you, STL. Most people don't see it right now, but they will in the future. You just did Edmonton a fine service. Let me know how Broberg does in your minor league affiliate. 🍻
Is he 22 or 23? The scouting report suggest you have a talented high first round defenseman ready to take the next step in a year or two. What you don't have is the cap space to keep him . If you let him go now (for a second round pick) it'll be highway robbery. There's no world where the oilers win in this scenario.
@@toddford9839 Personally I agree Holloway is the better deal here. Paying Broberg 4 mil/ year for a guy with little NHL experience (81 games, 12 min per game, -5 overall) is a bit of a gamble. One contract led to this. The Darnell Nurse contract.
what is an offer sheet lol
Karma for the Blues is all 3 RF are offer contracts next season by a hungry team and they have to scramble that they can't afford to do very well. As far as I am concerned, Broberg is needed not Holloway. LTIR is for sure Evander Kane. Ceci is slowing down and can be traded. They can also move three players down such as Stecher, J. Brown and Corey Perry.
New guys
LOL I don't think they are screwed. These guys will do nothing for the blues.
Just me or did his voice change
His voice sounds different
I shop at Wayne’s 👍🏼
Oilers can't complain about sh*t. They did the same thing in 2007 when they gave an offer sheet to Dustin Penner breaking up the Getlaf/Perry/Penner line. Karma's a bitch.
And the ducks were happy to let the oilers massively overpay penner... this has nothing at all to do with that... payback is gonna be a bitch
Oilers will match then trade for much more than a 2nd & 3rd. This will Not be Bowman s biggest problem
If Oilers match they can't trade these players for a year
Bowman should just cover it up…
you don't let these kids go to the western final opponents. resign. Can always trade them next year. The agent only wants paid.
It's a little bit of Karma after what Kevin Lowe did/started
That is not eck
Doug Armstrong got tired of destroying the Blues team he decided to try and screw other teams.
Crap Bowman is gna fuck this team up.
If Broberg doesn’t pan out they may have screwed themselves.
2 year deal is nothing, at worst he doesn't pan out and walks after two seasons, st Louis has nothing to lose 🤷♂️
Meh not really the cap hit doesn’t matter for the blues right now and the prospect pool is super deep so a 2nd isnt a huge loss
@@vincentbourdon4372 except 9M
@@jonah.donohue yeah for sure 4.6 M is something, but they aren't exactly cap strapped and it's a buriable contract if need be
Blowberg probably needs a change of scenery, and certainly wasn’t getting $4 1/2M from Oilers. They’ll probably match Holloway.
You say St. Louis like a knob
Ceci trade and Kane to LTIR. They keep both.
I Say Bowman should pull a Brian Burke and rent a barn but we both know he has no spine......
Get ducked this for g for Vancouver!!!!!!
Who is this?
Disaster class for oilers can’t get rid of Vinny and Broburg like who are you going to put with Nurse Broburgs puck carrying is what brought Nurse back from the dead in the playoffs
Are you using AI to make this?
Oilers can’t afford both of them.
Might work out but after the Campbell deal Oilers can't afford a player that can't play at the value of his cap hit.
@@handykiddhe4778 I'm wondering how the oilers front office reacts to two rookies essentially giving them ultimatums by signing offers at the same time. They may let them both walk.
@@toddford9839 Can’t blame the players for this. They haven’t made much money at this point in their career. Broberg would be silly to pass on 8 million that sets him up for life if he ends up like Jesse Pulujarvi, a bust.
Holloway would likely get many more minutes on a team that isn’t as deep as Oilers. He is at a point where he needs to make it or not. If Oilers can’t commit they need to move on even if they want to stay on the team.
What in the AI generated voice
This is the other guy, but yeah it does sound like AI Eck
Kane to LTIR, broberg stays
Every like this comment get I will do 0.1 pushups

Bro it's St. Louis (pronounced Saint Lewis)
This is why I don’t take professional sports seriously anymore. It’s all rigged.

4million for broberg dudes played 12 games last year haha so he's worth 333k per game... that like saying drai is worth 97k per game 😂😂😂😂😂
