- Lots of you have been wondering what mods are done to my car. So, without further ado, I present you with a video containing my mods and also a new perspective to consider for those considering buying a used car that is modded.
Also, I got lots of hate for buying a used modified car after my driveshaft blew up only minutes after buying my car. I'm going to break things down and explain why the driveshaft was not even close to a big deal when you see the entire picture.

I agree dude, my dad just bought a 15ss with literally every mod he did with 13k miles on the chassis! I think he did a smart move just like this guy but just different cam and different setup but same point of view!
Some never know how easy it is buying a modded car is versus buying it stock and doing it yourself. Save a shit ton of work!!!

Easier for sure. I bought a modded car once and won't again. Made replacing parts difficult because didn't know exactly what was used(mostly suspension related).I also knew the car had been abused (que the replacement trans shortly after buying and wore out motor mounts). I also felt like i was deprived of the experience. I now buy stock then mod. To me it would have been like asking some stanger to take my wifes virginity for me. (Met and married young btw).
I’m not really a Chevy guy, but I own both a 2017 Mustang GT and a 2013 Camaro SS. Both great cars.

The worst part about modifying a car is if it cost you for instance 5K to go from 13 seconds to 11 second quarter mile time, it could very easily cost you another 10K to get down into the low 10-second bracket. It just gets so expensive to go really fast.

Enjoyed your video. Very practical way to get what you want without spending all the money. I just purchased a 2014 Camaro SS 2S with similar engine mods, but with automatic and 3.27 gears. I paid a fair used car price of $23,400. I estimated the previous owner had spent 12000-15000 in modifications. 40,000 miles and well taken care of. Interior and paint looks nearly new. Just a few gravel dings on front fascia which I am touching up when in the mood. Sweet sweet car. I knew I was taking some risk not knowing how well taken care of the car was. Think I got lucky. This car makes beautiful music from 850-7000 rpm. Can't start 1/4 mile run without traction control on. It will completely loose traction on 20 inch by 10inch wide soft Pirellis. Scheduled for a 3000 rpm stall converter and dyno tune first week of Dec. I am 66 yrs old and this is the dream car I have wanted for 40 yrs. This car will be passed on to my son.

Great vid! My first vehicle was a built single cab but after totaling it I️ decided to get a bone stock camaro to build up from there and seeing your vids really gets me motivated to do so!! In Houston there’s nothing else to do except build race break repeat lol

Showed my girl this channel because she has a 2014 camaro v6 and she loves it. Nice benchmark for someone to set for nodding a v6, so thanks for breaking it down

And the end of the day, that’s EXACTLY what it comes down to....THE DRIVER. You can have the fastest car on earth but if you don’t know how to drive it against someone who has modifications and clearly knows how their car works and has studied it and put their whole life into the build then they will more than likely win almost any race. That’s the beauty of having pride in your car and the work YOU put into it. Great vid man, looks and sounds amazing! Ignore the haters.

Great vid! Love the car! If you think about it, even if your into it for $35k that’s dirt cheap compared to a factory car with that kind of hp. You’ll be paying upwards of $75k for that.

My boss drives a ‘17 camaro rs. The car sounds pretty badass when you floor it but if you give it a little bit gas it just sounds like fart.
Since the car is imported from the usa there aren‘t many of em here in austria.
The car does look though. However, the taillight started to fog up at just 16k km. That‘s not a big deal though cuz it‘s gone now.
Overall the car is really nice but I‘d prefer your camaro over his camaro just because you can‘t beat good ol‘ V8 engine.

It’s beautiful. Working a deal with my Duramax mechanic son to buy his 2012 ss/rs. What he’s done to the car, he can never get the money back. I know I’m buying someone else’s blood sweat and tears but it makes way too much sense not to buy it from him. Dynoed at 670hp , 411 gears for 13,000 with 89000. I’d be stupid to buy a stock one and do it myself.

But if you bargin around and buy some things on sale (when a newer model comes out) or used (not main components), and some how sell some of the old car parts (rims, hood, bumper, ect) it can be less. I love that yours is painted, I really do but for me I just wrapped it because I didnt have nor want to spend as much for paint. I understand what you are saying and agree with you that it is a much better investment to buy a built car already, but it kinda comes together like a painting. Most cars are bad investments and modding them makes it even worse, but its the fun of the game; a very expensive hobby. Its like building a big puzzle! (: Great Video !

Regarding your comment about the hurst short throw, back in the '90s I had a hurst shifter in my old 5.0 Mustang (1986 GT) and that was my favorite thing about the shifter...the way it ratcheted or snapped into gear. It sounded like reloading an old lever action Winchester rifle lol. Digging your Camaro bud, very nice.

went through this with my GTO. Bought a bone stock 06 for 18,500 spent 5k plus on headers, exhaust, tune, tires, brake upgrades and it was still slow. was looking at 20k plus to boost it, upgrade drivetrain. I found another 06 owned by a 62 year old man with 40k in upgrades for 19k. I've put another 7k or so into it to make it my own but saved so much more by it already being fast.

Michael Smith lmao! Depends on what you consider fast? It's a 400 crank hp LS2 that weighs 3700 plus pounds. From the factory they are a mid 13 low 14 sec car. It takes a lot of work to get into the 10s. My car is 630 rwhp and runs 10.6
Boosted GTO oh, ya idk, 400 is still way better then most cars driving around today. I once owned a ford with only about 130hp. Drove nicely too

I have the same year camaro as you and I subscribed to you channel. I have similar mods. ZL1 exhaust, 229/234 cam, kooks headers,gutted cats,cold air,custom wheels,tinted taillights and marker lights. I have had it since new and slowly getting it like I want. I really want the 3.91 gears and upgraded half shafts. Anyway enjoy your content! Keep it coming

3k is just about right for a cam upgrade with supporting internals, people dont know what they are talking about if they think labor isnt ay least 1500 by a well known shop

My mechanic charges $400 for any LS cam swap anything else gets price bumped. That's including springs, pushrods and all that good stuff you just need a connect. Takes him a few hours depending on how busy he is
Nice. Bought my 2010 modded, right away I had to replace shocks and springs, wasn't up to what I like, so did bc coilovers. Hit a opossum, but I had a custom done front end with vents, broke a little tab on fender, so insurance paid me off enough to buy a zl1 painted front end. I removed the 22 inch wheels and did some killer 20s, had custom stereo, amps etc so I just replaced head unit since one in it was a 09 model.

Dude those who hate, usually can’t afford anything. I have a ‘14 Mustang GT and I’m dying to start modifying it. One project at a time. Now I have an idea of what to expect price wise.
Honestly in 2020 I think its worth buying used and then upgrading, mainly because just for the car new you will be paying $30,000 add $16,000 in mods and your at $46,000. So going the used route you do save quite a bit, but you have to know what to look for. I bought my first project car last year, it's a 370z the previous owner didnt know why it wouldnt start I got the car for $10,000. It turned out to be the starter after I replaced that the head gasket blew. So after I repaired all of that plus the car I was in $11,000. I put $4,000 in mods. I was able to make $7,500 on the car. All you need is a broken car and some tools. And of course some money. I'm getting another project car next week it's a 98 mustang. The seller is asking $7,500. He says there is a few problems with it. I think I'm going to build a drift car out of it.

Don't worry about the haters mane. I bought a 2010 grandsport, the next 5 months the transmission went out. Only have 1st, 3rd and 6th. It doesn't matter I love my car. Mods are: stroker forged CP Carrillo pistons, rods and forged crank, 1 7/8 LT's, cam, lv3 102 ported TB, NW's 102 TB, and stock intake. Making 630rwhp on a stroked ls3 429ci!!!

If you have a mechanic like I do that knows what he's doing but doesn't charge you $600 just for headers or $1,000 for a cam swap but instead charges $400 for full cam swap and $150 for headers/anything exhaust related, then you could save a lot of money like I do. Or do the mods yourself plain and simple

3k where??????? I simple youtube video/5th gen camaro forum search alleviated all questions for a cam install. I got a BTR stage 4 cam with dual valve spring package w/ titanium internals for 1300$. Even a simple tool set up would still leave you 1k to play with. That being said, YOU made a video about it, which is more informational and more than I have to bring to the table. So my hat off to you

Funny about the driveshaft thing and how people started bashing you about it. Hellcats can destroy their driveshaft, brand new and completely stock with only drag radials.

My 77 nova runs 512 whp / 576 tq.
Car costed = 1500 (Roller)
Interior work = 1200 (Home Built
Engine = 6500 (Home Built)
Trans = 3500 (Shop Built)
Differential = 2500 (Shop Built)
Suspension = 1800 (Home Built)
All said and done = $18,000 CAD
I would be lucky to get back $7500 of the whole car. I love my car so I wont be ever getting rid of it.

My inferno orange 2011 Camaro costed 15,000 used in really very good shape and l spent 16,000 in upgrades a new GM LS3 495 horsepower crate engine with LS3 CNC ported heads a SFI harmonic balancer aluminium one piece driveshaft a built 6L80e transmission with a circle D 4200rpm stall converter a new Eaton limited slip stainless longtube 1 7/8 headers into a stainless 3 inch X pipe 3 inch Flow FX mufflers ZL1 fuel pump and injectors sheet metal intake 102 mm throttle body E85 conversion kit 25 percent under drive pulley 8 GM coil packs and wires a oil catch can water pump all hoses 4 new GM bearing hubs 17 x10 race star wheels with Mickey Thompson 305/45r 17 ET street R drag radials 18x4 race star wheels 18 x5 inch Mickey Thompson skinnies 4 BMR lowing springs BTR trailing arms and toe rods arms computer tuning engine and transmission and dynoed and other little things here and there to finish everything up so 16,000 later plus 15,000 for the car equals 31,000 but the car runs 7.40s at 94mph in the eighth mile running on E85 naturally aspirated with stock 3.27 gears with air conditioning full interior and will cruise 80mph on the highway at 2100-2200rpm the car has wicked throttle response is very streetable and has a ever so slight chop at idle that is barely noticeable compared to a stock LS3 giving you no idea what it's really capable of the car ran this eighth mile time with only 3 runs with more testing and runs trying different launch techniques would probably go 7.20s at 95mph it dynoed 430 horsepower at 6200rpm and 410 torque at 5000rpm to the wheels and makes good horsepower and torque from idle to 6600rpm redline

They make a one piece driveshaft for those it eliminates the mid bearing less failure points that way with some good U joints it’ll be bout as bulletproof as your going to make it. The downside of a stick is just how violent they are An parts obviously only handle so much of no torque then all the torque in a instant. If anyone really knows performance cars they should grasp this.
