“Insurance” completely changes the endeavour of the contractor from your contractor over into an incredible bulk crapitalist.
It’s why Roofing Contractors usually refuse to give a detailed line-by-line estimate & assessment….& the “why” the roofing contractor attempts to strong-arm you the homeowner into signing a contingency, & then using the same to bully you.

Yeah, cause us roofers get paid just driving around knocking on doors lol Absurd. First, if a guy does an inspection for you and he points out all the damage, you should sign a commitment. That is only if he agrees to be present and to see it through. That part is tricky. However, it should be obvious that they know what they are doing. Second, roofers don't make any money until they are paid in full. This is a commitment of time , energy, and money from the company. You, the homeowner, are getting a roof for pennies on the dollar. Keep this in mind as you go through this process. Without us, you would pay out of pocket. $400 a square or more is the average right now. Do you have $10k+ just sitting around? This guy is a lacky for the insurance companies. Lastly, always check who it is that you will be doing business with. BBB is useless. Google is safer. Referrals are the best, but not always 100%. I have put on hundreds of roofs through insurance companies. This guy don't know sh*t.

Ive talked with 10 roofers so far and all are sleazy con artists so far. They all insist on a insurance proceeds contract that gives them entitlement to get all that insurance pays for minimum work to satisfy the claim scope. In addition they refuse to explain what materials they will use in that price. They want full control over what crap they use to fulfil the claim.
Why not show me what materials and procedure you will use within the insurance proceeds? Well Intell you why! THEY ALWAYS USE THE CRAPPIEST MATERIALS POSSIBLE TO GET IT DONE FAST AND WITH HIGHEST PROFFIT. So they do notnwant the home owner to have any say. They just want the home owner to be for ed to pay extra for better materials. It is time people fight back and stop signing insurance proceeds contracts with roofers who do not disclose exactly what shingle brand and grade they will install, what underlayment, what ice and water shield and so on. Also they need to tell you how many nails per sheet they will use and whether it matches the manufacturer installation spec sheet. That should be on contract! People need to be more educated before trusting roofers. And by the way! In 9/10 cases the crew who shows up to do the work is not insured under the roofing company name despite the roofing company giving you an isnurance certificate. The roofer crew is a subcontractor hired for the day and need to have their own insurance. Illegal workers have a tough time getting insurance coverage such as workmans comp and accident insurance. So beware😢! If Pedro falls off roof and gets injured they can still sue the home owner despite you hiring the roofing company who insured. In a civil suit you are still liable.

Yes they can send their engineer if you want to dispute. You can also hire your own and sue the insurance company.
