I have a 4 year degree in insurance and 30 plus years of experience in Property and Casualty. An unhappy consumer could and should complain to their State Insurance Regulators that their insurance company is "Failing to deal in good faith" The regulators represent the insured, and can make the insurance company defend their actions. Complaining costs nothing and can help resolve the issue.
