In this video I will give a step-by-step guide on how to apply a name set and patches to a soccer jersey using just a home iron! This process takes time so make sure you don't rush it! Also, do this at your own risk!!

Regulation spacing for name is 6cm from base of collar to top of the letters
For the number it's 6cm from the bottom of the letters to the top of the number

Where do you get name sets from
i would recommend doing the name and number seperately !!!
It does work but I wouldn’t recommend doing it as you can just get the club to do it and it can end up being more expensive doing it yourself
It can definitely end up being more expensive especially if you’re looking for current season kits. It’s only cheaper if you’re buying older jerseys and name sets that are on sale.
@@nutmegcityfc also sometimes the player versions are different, for example the PL patches for the player versions are bigger which is more aesthetically pleasing for me.

I did this before but the longer it started to peel off and maybe i was too hard on it. What is the best temperature? I never used a towel instead using a baking paper
I’ve actually moved on from the towel and started using baking paper too! I start out with medium heat and then slowing increase the heat if needed. Press down for about 15 seconds, let it cool off a bit, and then peel.
Hi love the tutorial of how to do this, I’m doing a sterling name set on a 2016/17 shirt, how ever the first 4 letters came off perfect but the last 4 letter arnt peeling off, any advice would be greatly appreciated
Usually with that you just have to keep adding heat to it, let it cool off and then peel. Repeat as many times necessary until it comes off. If you are using a towel over the name set, maybe use a baking sheet instead. Towel is a bit thick and that’s why I also struggled in this video.

I’ve used baking paper
I am sure even game jerseys they don't really care about mesurements when they prepare them for numbers, names and patchs, for example Messi Argentina shirt during the world cup, the front 10 was more central in some games than in others (it's easy to spot in Argentina jersey thanks to the stripes). The staff guy who prepare the kits have 18 (league games) to 26 (world cup games) shirts to prepare quickly for each game, he will never mesure exactly for each shirt. Also some players wears M some players wear L, XL ... so measurments will be a nightmare and too time consuming for them

I have a question, if I am putting that on the chest and on the other side of the jersey is a name, can it do some damage to the name on the other side?
It can which is why I put my iron board inside the shirt so it doesn't mess up the other side.
If you mess up is there any way you can take it off and redo it or are you screwed?
You can probably take it off but there’s no redo. You would have to buy a new set

The name set took so long because towels don’t conduct heat. Should’ve probably used the baking sheet from the beginning

Do you know how to take off the patches ?
Yes so pretty much it’s the same process. You want to use the iron and heat up the patch until it starts to come off. It’s also quite a process so you will probably have to heat it up with the iron multiple times. Just like applying a patch, use a towel over the patch and then press down with the iron and keep it there for about 20-30 seconds and see if it peels off while it’s still hot.
I’ll probably make a video where I remove patches and name sets in the future!

@@mfdontbeliveme No, for sowed patches you’ll have to cut the strings to detach it from the jersey. However, that will be a much easier process and it won’t leave any glue residue like the iron on patches do.
Which I should’ve also mentioned, when you feel off iron on patches, they might leave glue residue. It won’t matter if your plan is to replace the patch, but if you plan on removing the patch and not replace, you’re going to see residue of where the patch used to be.
