I hope your being sarcastic. A true professional would have got another lens and do a proper review, and not limp along with broken footage. C’mon be real here this is hardly professional….
I own both 1.2Ls, and the only reason I keep the EF (for now) is for mounting on my cinema cams. However, for the premium price, if you already own the EF and are satisfied with the level of sharpness as a creator, I can’t say that paying 2x more results in realizing 2x perceived value or increased revenue from the typical customer. For closeup individual portraits it is almost too sharp, but for groups and applications where critical sharpness across the frame and focal plane is paramount, the RF is very compelling!
Kai's EF 50mm video with digital rev is a masterpiece and should be enshrined as such. It introduced me to street photography like nothing else had. I also remember him having a blast with it ...
By any chance since you like to experiment alot, can you do a comparison of the basic kit RF lenses vs the EF L lenses? Would like to know if there is a difference in quality?
Check out Manny Ortiz’s review - he did exactly that, and Sony’s 1.2 looks pretty competitive. Would be great to see Canon fire back some day with an IS Nano-USM Mark II edition in a compact form similar to Sony’s
I remembering ordering from DigitalRev when I lived in UK... it seems they have a tunnel from China to UK like tunnels from mexico to California...Does DRev sell to USA ?
Hi Love you vids. What would you recommend as the best photography camera (mainly) with very good film quality to be purchased for a professional beginner (wedding photography)? The reviews on different sites are way to difficult and some biased. Would love to hear your take on it.
Stupid comparison, rf looks sigma art 50mm 1.4 (super sharp all the way) the ef 50mm 1.2 has a character and the rf one doesn't have it. Ofcorse rf is great but for those who need extra sharp and ai like stuff but for those who want artistic/dreamy look the ef type would be their choice. Imagine the joker film shoot with the rf super sharp rf lens 🤦 could never do the same job as the characteristics ones ❤
Thank you so much for your spot on and wise review. I especially like the self test that comes with it - if I don't understand it, I am most likely freaking stupid. Lens A, Lens B and Lens C taped in front of A or B - simply brilliant. Ordered the lens 4 times now, one I keep as spare, 2 will get sent back, this gives me still that simple sense of being important because the vendors treat me like a king. Where is your cool Pentax hat from? Need it urgently as well, thanks again. And of course I opened my 341st Squarespace account - everybody says it's cool, a million flies can't be wrong.
I am so taken aback by how massive the RF version is. Ridiculous. I just bought the EF version on MPB, mainly because I do not have an RF body yet (and probably won't be buying into that ever), but I do enjoy shooting film and I can shoot any EF lens on film, none of the RF lenses.
Bought an EF 50mm f1.2 and it won the award for the quickest lens to be sold on. I hated the optics, reminded me of my old Pentax 50mm f1.7 from the film days! Made a profit selling it though 👌
i just commented on your digitalrev review of the 50mm F/1.2L.. after watching it again after ten years. you haven't aged a bit.. you must reveal your skin care routine..
All that plastic doesn't make sense for such an expensive lens. When I had my RF 35mm 1.8 it scratched easily just with my fingernails. Seeing the same material in the RF 50mm 1.2 is scary, especially if you try to sell it later.
Is it really? I have Canon EF 100mm Macro IS and while plastic, it's tough as hell. I prefer it to metal actually. There's no way you'd scratch that. Seems like RF's have matte finish that could be easily 'polished' with use? Is it so?
The EF 50mm 1.2L was always crap in my opinion, highly coveted crap. Always soft and fringey. Many will disagree, but a lens can't do just about everything wrong, and still be great.
hahaha the Sigma 50mm f1.4 ART beat the crap out of the Canon EF 50mm f1.2 for sharpness so the RF %0mm f1.2 will be heaps better without even looking at this review but i will out of curiosity and to support Kai's channel.
This video perfectly exemplifies Kai's consummate professionalism.
"professionalism"
I hope your being sarcastic. A true professional would have got another lens and do a proper review, and not limp along with broken footage. C’mon be real here this is hardly professional….
You had us at "foliage action"
""Now that Lok is here Digital Rev is back, no more videos alone""😂
Lok is busy right now. Give it time.

This reminds me of some of the chaos of Kai's Digital Rev videos from back in the day😂😂
This is the Kai I missed 🤗
can you do a tutorial on how you hid the lav at 3:58
yes please! 😂
Kai at the end of the month: Scheiße I have to make a video because I have a Squarespace contract. 😆
Did you say "Scheiße" at 3:48? :D Lol. Kai using German swearing... Love it.
I also use the EF 50 1.2 and it never disappoints me, just takes a bit of practice and patience to get rewarded with stunning results.
Love them both for different reasons. EF for character and a dreamy look, the RF for supreme sharpness.
EF gives you and artistic quality. Will not change.
Kai's EF 50mm video with digital rev is a masterpiece and should be enshrined as such. It introduced me to street photography like nothing else had. I also remember him having a blast with it ...
I don't even have a thing for cameras, I just like the voices in the background.
We need a RF 50mm 1.2 L vs FE 50mm 1.2 GM battle!
I really had to laugh when you said Scheiße, was extremely unexpected😂
@Photogopinion ja digga mach doch nicht jetzt auf den. Ansich wars ja nicht schlecht
By any chance since you like to experiment alot, can you do a comparison of the basic kit RF lenses vs the EF L lenses? Would like to know if there is a difference in quality?
So, the left one then? Or the right one?
Should have taken Lok's advice and always have back-up audio recording.
This video is so intense that you can literally see the light change in the background.
But Kai, what about the Canon EF 50mm F 1.0 L lens??
Can't believe you are still using the pre-type c pre-butterfly kb Macbook pro
Is it the rf worth twice the price though?
Can you compare the different 50/1.2 from Canon Sony and Nikon?
Check out Manny Ortiz’s review - he did exactly that, and Sony’s 1.2 looks pretty competitive. Would be great to see Canon fire back some day with an IS Nano-USM Mark II edition in a compact form similar to Sony’s
I love watching your videos for some reason. Its fun to watch to me no matter what you're reviewing. Even cheese.
Insert Lok talking about backup audio.
I wanted the 50mm 1.2 when I had my crop sensor M6, now I switched to Sony and ordered the 50mm 1.2 which is taking FOREVER to arrive. 😅
I remembering ordering from DigitalRev when I lived in UK... it seems they have a tunnel from China to UK like tunnels from mexico to California...Does DRev sell to USA ?
8:00 "...fix everything with titles, unless there are green flashes on the screen"
Me: Easy fix... Add this to the title: (Ft. The Green Flash)
*lol*
I have no idea what’s going on in this video.
I like your glasses. What brand are they??
Hi Love you vids. What would you recommend as the best photography camera (mainly) with very good film quality to be purchased for a professional beginner (wedding photography)? The reviews on different sites are way to difficult and some biased. Would love to hear your take on it.
Wouldn't the metadata have told you what photo was shot with which lens?
the metadata is checked at the end of the reviews
Would you be kind and update us on the film book's progress? Keep getting postponement notices from Amazon. Thank you.
Did you not think to check the metadata of each image to see which was which? It should be recording your lens and serial information...
He had all the images labelled as Lens A and Lens B......so he knew which was which. Kai knows about metadata; he's no amateur.
Where Lok?

My copy of "old school photography" finally arrived today. 👍
Now we need a Z vs RF vs FE face off. Who has the better f1.2 50?
Z lol

Review new nikon 50mm f1.2
You ever discuss your watch game? .. awesome vid !
I am so taken aback by how massive the RF version is. Ridiculous.

I found the Black and white Movie homage perfect
Please upload the silent movie!!!
Dude you said "Scheiße"! thats awesome XD
Thanks for the video.
I know this is unrelated but damn i haven't seen glowing apple logo in videos for years
I am crying in macbook pro mid 2010
@@PeterOgbodu hahaha cheers mate. I'm with my Macbook Air 2015
F's in the chat for audio.
Does this go on canon 90d
Only the ef
This type of comparison make way more sense
Bought an EF 50mm f1.2 and it won the award for the quickest lens to be sold on. I hated the optics, reminded me of my old Pentax 50mm f1.7 from the film days! Made a profit selling it though 👌
Interesting video recording
Kai man Wong, silent but deadly.
i just commented on your digitalrev review of the 50mm F/1.2L.. after watching it again after ten years. you haven't aged a bit.. you must reveal your skin care routine..
My 50mm 1.8 recently broke so this might be a nice upgrade for me for only..... Nevermind I dont have that many kidneys.
Don't which one is 10 cm waterproofing.
Wtf did I just watch, I loved it

You smooth brained people can't understand that plastic doesn't mean cheap, and metal doesn't mean premium.
7:29 Galifianakis
Pretty similar,hangover 2
Barry Scott is never irrelevant.
The EF 50mm 1.2L was always crap in my opinion, highly coveted crap. Always soft and fringey. Many will disagree, but a lens can't do just about everything wrong, and still be great.
Thank you Kay 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Please do also 50 f/1,2 S for Z system versus 50 f/1,2 Ais and Old Noct Nikkor versus new …
Was this video literally posted at 11:59 on June 30? 😂
So one lens is better than the other
RF lenses plastic is so soft and weak compared to EF lenses plastic. Cutting corners by Canon, shame...
RF is definitely better ,however this doesnt make the ef magically a bad lens .
Still have tape left over from the DRTV days, I see...
OG, Jordan 4, Human Made.... trainer boi?
Fujifilm 50mm 1.0 when? 😈
Hi, Review Webill 2* :)
Awesome video!
XD
it's pink tape 🤩
I got a canon 50MM EF 1.2L lens
Impressive knowledge of German swearing. 😁
Can you put RF on DSLR? Can you put RF on film SLR? End of conversation.
Where is Lok? We want Lok! We want Lok!!
I thought you were based in Hong Kong?
he said : scheisse.😂😂😂😂
I ❤ PENTAX/RICOH 🤘
Are you fricking kidding?!
More videos of you sitting in a chair in an empty room. Thought you were going to shoot more in the wild with Lok?
He’s still busy sorting out his new life in the U.K....more Kai and Lok videos to come this month!
"Plastic, but not plasticy"
That's called polycarbonate, Kai.
Well ... probably not the kind of content you aim for. Definitely not the kind of video I wanted this to be.
Bummer.
I like the hat 😁
3:49 Scheisse 😂
Video made just sell Squarespace.. There's no there there in this one. Next!
The Sony GM 50 is the best
Your MacBook need to update

Too bad Kai usually takes garbage pictures.
Please for the love of god you have lens a and lens. Just say a or b.
Dude?! Way too distracting!!! Stay focused!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
HUMAN MADE?
