@@iCore7Gamingthat would be a different game. Dealing with orbital mechanics isnt for everyone and not what this game is targeting. One of my biggest issues with SE1 was not being able to build more than one thing per grid space, like placing a handrail and being unable to place anything else within that space even though there was clearly plenty of room. If this limitation has been fixed, I'm excited
I'm hoping for massive multiplayer in SC2 like at least 100 players at once. This will make the game feel less empty with how ridiculously huge the map is. You'll actually be able to run into people if there's lots of people on but also massive space fleet battles
Never going to have that many. Game already hitches from a collision with two mid sized ships. Unified grid means large ships will contain more blocks, therefore more calculations and network replication. In stream they said performance is similar to SE1, a bit better and a bit worse in some areas in it's current state. Multiplayer is so far out still.
I really appreciate the "vertical slice" development strategy- taking a slice of the game mechanics, developing it from top to bottom- and releasing for play, before moving to the next slice. This way they get player participation feedback early, instead of releasing it all 5 years later. Very surreal seeing the equivalent to see se1 alpha reflected in the new se2, all these years later. Like very nostalgic but also hoping for so much more from the new one.
Are you aware of the gameplay limitations and even the engine limitaitions with speed? 2km/s would not only be useless (no one can react fast enough at such speeds, it's useless in 99% of situations for 99% of players), it'd be extremely harmful for performances, knowing the physics of SE games. If you want more you can always mod it, but it'll never be as stable as vanilla speed.

Based on the roadmap linked in the description, their plan for this stage of the Alpha looks to be finding out how the new engine is going to break on different hardware, stress testing blueprint sharing and mod support, and fixing any unintuitive controls and UI. Once they've dealt with the potential issues due to unexpected hardware or other things they didn't/couldn't test for, then Survival will be the focus. Planets and likely basic encounter systems will be part of this stress testing. We have seen VRAGE 3 previews of planets before, so it's likely this is a deliberate holdback to have the bug and glitch data in part 1 being clearer. Once that is done, it looks like that's when they'll be doing all the bugfixing on volumetric water. Multiplayer is looking to be after that. While it has been shown off in the trailers, they seem to want to make sure the more underlying issues are addressed in this alpha testing before they introduce that mess to the general populace. No current time frame on when all this future stuff will be happening. I'm guessing their thoughts are "when stops exploding" or some equivalent. Likely why the livestream was having them outright say that if you don't want to participate in this Alpha testing, then hold off on buying it.

I'd wait until they achieve their "vertical slice 4" with liquid physics. Because if the water is integrated into the gameplay loop as the planets were integrated into SE1, it will serve absolutely no purpose in survival mode. Overall they seem very unsure about what they want to offer with that "sandbox" mode as it is called now.

So what I’m hearing is “build the largest battle ship ever and take over everything.”
This looks beautiful, really excited to play
So excited to see SE2 develop through its lifespan, also, who is the guy doing voiceover, he has done an excellent job
I NEVER pre-order, but for this, I will make an exception.
same, SE1 is really solid, consistent updates, even if the game sucks on day 1 i trust itll come around
@ You don't have to convince me. I already bought all DLCs for SE1, right now SE2 + Pioneer DLC.
be careful. Keen Software House have a history of not following through.
Medieval Engineers was sold in early access to many people, but was never finished.
A Miner Wars MMO was sold as preorder to many people, but was never released.
@ I get your concerns, but since SE is their flagship series, I expect them to deliver. And it's an Alpha version again. So, I also expect some bugs and some content will follow after launch.
For KEEN!? That's a bad idea. Remember the tale of Medieval Engineers. You don't wanna put too much faith in them.
Ah its nice seeing all the SE faction colors togeether once more
Good ol Yellow, Blue, Red, and. . .hey wait who's this white guy?
Can't wait, hopefully people are patient with the development cycle and don't rush the devs when delays happen.
We’re getting SE 2 before GTA 6 lol
I'm so ready, this looks amazing!
Yep, done. Take my money
I never pre order games now, however I may have just preordered ! I am so excited , was one of the first games I ever played early access back in the day
Be careful about preordering from Keen.
They have a history of not finishing a number of their games, despite selling them widely in an Early Access state.
I really hope for a greater variety of space clothing, such as combat models or better models for the sea or for construction, each one giving a different bonus with characteristics, either just cosmetic or unique abilities.
300 meters per second? I'm definitely need a mod for a lot more
This is so exciting!! I'm so hyped, it's just in 39 days too
GRAAAHHH
I’m just saying….. you guys are awesome. My brothers and I love your games.
I'm curious what has been improved over SE1, looking at this trailer it looks like a high-res version if SE1
I love it!!! Its 2013 all over again!!! SE2 will be even better!!! I can't wait for planets
Time to open the Cryopod of our sleeping engineers. Time to pioneer again!
Let’s gooo🫡
God I love that I got into this game literally a month ago now.
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
That money flew out of my account faster than you can blink!
