    The best fihing I've ever experienced has been with Captain John. We go out at least twice a year and wouldn't consider anyone but Sharkey's. See you in April!

    Glad to see the youtube channel doing good! On one of my trips with you my buddy and I recommended doing more youtube because I knew it would take off with how awesome you guys are. I went on one of the first trips in your beautiful Raider when we had to try and gaff the rockfish out of the livewell, fun times. Fish on John!

    That captain is about as good as they get for a Lingcod guided trip . He's as good as Tony Spelveda ( Green Waters Fishing ) out of Trinidad California. He offers a long-range trophy Lingcod trip as well . He's a great captain and fisherman as you're going to hire . This captain here is in the same category beyond a doubt. Great job, captain !

    What depths were yall fishing?
    ..and any tips on catching the smaller size rockfish for bait? (Or is it just a matter of sorting?)

      You just have to drop a hook into the school and see how big the fish are. Fish of like size school together. Find a school with small fish.

    I just ordered 2 electric reels and unless it’s deep or I got an old guy onboard, I am not using them

    Used to be part of the only charter that would put folks on the big fish out front where you are back in the early nineties. (Captain Don's charters after Don sold the business)
    The only other game in town was Bill... Mary Kay Charters. Bill was the king of trash fish at Simpsons Reef. He used to pull up the other boats and tell them to get out of his fishing grounds. "Those are my trash fish" 😤 He was known for circling sport boats as if he was trying to swamp them. The Coast guard said one more time and we're pulling your ticket. All that territorialism over tiny black and green rockfish at Simpsons Reef.
    I wouldn't have said anything but he actually pulled up to me in my commercial salmon troller and tried to tell me that I'm in his territory. So, as you can imagine I pulled out my glock and shot him. (Of course, you know I'm just kidding) But I wonder what ever happened to old bill.

      @@timcavanaugh1443 I stand corrected! I have seen multiple videos with fisherman releasing Lings over 36" stating that is was regulations.

    Don't you think you should fight the fish , instead of power winching it with an electric reel !!!

    • @dennisjames8386
      @dennisjames8386 10 місяців тому +3

      I agree they r old-fashioned so they need to fight the fish. It's like puttin an A.I. in boxing. There is no fight,and plus when they where kids a fishin pole didn't have no plug-ins or take batteries. 😢 an it does get boring. There is no excitement. Just my opinion. Opinions are like A-holes everyone has one.

    I am very lazy, however watching an automatic reel do the work. Unsure but thinking is one of if most pathetic thing i have witnessed in 46 years of loving in Oregon. Not shocking that Southern Oregon leads NW of diabetes. Lol, too lazy to reel in a fish.

      lol I've spent a lot of time reeling in big halibut from 200 feet plus in alaska and wish I had these reels. too expensive. I'll just get a sore arm but I'd really rather have the auto reels.

      you have obviously not experienced a tanacom. its not lazy, its making meat piles. and that kind of meat certainly will not give you diabetes.

      Eric don't knock it until you've been out there doing it! 400' of working a pound of lead at depth with 30 40 lbs. of cod comming up is not crappie fishing.
