man that bass sounds like a fucking army
I was there!
The tent was absolutely packed for them. Not bad for a band without an album, and only been going for a year.
They best set of the day!
I think they are going to become huge in the next few years.
They recently played in San Francisco and guess who was in the audience? None other than Metallica, Muse, Tom Morello, Tom Araya and Kerry King!
The little monsters playing for the big monsters!
aged well@@CRW5252
@@CRW5252 And You are right! ❤
@@anonimo342 I was! Proud to say I called it 😋 They continue to be great.
Damn camera man knows nothing about that epic drum fill!
That just gets me mad
Right?!
It's almost 4 bars long, too! You'd think he'd catch at least the end of it.
***** THANK YOU
***** Probably the editor, which is even dumber.
Can spot myself about 3 or 4 times in this video, I was one person away from the barrier and it was absolutely insane, love these guys and can't wait to see them again in March!
There is so much of a Queens of the Stone Age influence in this song, it's fucking awesome. Royal Blood are fantastic.
The riff does remind me of No One Knows
those are some tasty drum fills
why is the camera not on ben when he's doing the fill?!
Ben's Royal Blood custom drum head was produced by Rock Drummers, hit us up if you want something for your band!
Possibly the best set of the festival, I was at the front row for this one!
LOVE these guys!
I've got a crush on this band.
It's great to see one band do rock n roll like it should be: loud and badass!!! They are getting so much hype I truly believe they are going to be one of the best bands around in the next years. This year they played Rading but I think it is quite obvious that every big festival is going to try to have them in 2015 line-up. And then I remember Gene Simmons saying a few weeks that rock was dead...
Ben is a monster. Killing it as ever!!!
Bloody Amazing! Love this band :0
This is MUSIC!!! I will use it on my channel playlist!
Finally, something I can listen to other than QOTSA :)
Try highly suspect
Try Rival Sons, Arctic Monkeys, and Cage the Elephant
Radiohead ?
Try the strokes budd
Proud to say these guys come from my area
now that's how you play the bass! love these guys
this is a fucking tune
So happy to see these guys getting bigger by the show :)
we better send them to Wieght Watchers then....
Four Owls This is hard rock, not shitty pop.. Who gives a fuck bout looks?
Tyson Rees loool true but it was a good joke😂
mike and Ben are both monsters hopefully one day see them in the rock n roll hall of fame one day. big things are coming
2:17 the excitment is real
it would be great to have the cam on the drummer during that crazy solo at the end.
lead guitarist's worst nightmare - fact that they're easily replacable lol
Me at 2:16
Epic
Set of the weekend
Fantastic falsetto at 3:30
buenardo
ok this is impressive
Killer performance!
any ideas on the t shirt the drummer is wearing?
@jedi_slemo Royal Blood is a great! It's wild the way he plays lead bass! LOL
+Krisnarefa Agusta @jedi_slemo He Rocks! Groundbreaking work!
Where do I know this song from? Is it used in any commercials maybe?
It's been on radio 1
Yeah its used in quite a few commercials
Fucking really? The one time they should cut to the drummer, they don't. What the fuck? I wanted to see that damn drum solo!
Wanted to say the same!!! Wtf people?
The fact that they missed the drum solo then went right back to Ben the instant the solo stopped is pretty bad...
0:00 - 3:31 Fucking brilliant
At them 2 only, they sound like 4 !
Less is fucking more !!
who needs a whole band anyway?
Im wearing the Yellow hat at 2:50
something about him on stage reminds me of josh homme..which is in no way a bad thing.
My god that is clever! How is he doing that??
Royal Blood shortlisted for the UK Mercury Prize 2014.
This song sounds like CKY
Bass and drums on point, vocals are really weak. Needs to sort them out as it's holding them back live.
jasonmoriparty what the sheesh kind of pedal is he using? A bass whammy?
maybee octaver and some fuzz
he got also a marshall coupled with his bass-baffle
He splits the output from his bass, add fuzz etc and feeds it into both a bass amp and guitar amp. There is some info here: basschat.co.uk/topic/223363-royal-blood/ I love the fact that someone has taken an instrument that doesn't always get much attention and is using it in this way. I really must plug my old short-scale bass into my laptop and see if I can get something close to that tone using software. Unfortunately I'll never match his talent!
From what I've seen, there's a couple of Electro-Harmonix Micro POG pitch shifters and a Z.VEX Mastotron fuzz involved.
Basically, the signal gets shifted up an octave and played through a couple of guitar amps in parallel with a more conventional bass tone.
Andy Brice thats sick that you know that, considering this band isnt that well known. his tone is so good. I was looking for a guitarist and then i was like "whaaa its just bass (albeit a few tweaks)"?! thanks
madeinmanchesterr He uses 4 pedals (quad Pogs and harmonizers) that are fed to a bass and guitar amp simultaneously.
drummer looks like andres iniesta thumbs up for finger fuck
Bet that camera operator got sacked
i thought he played bass im confused >.
ohh his bass sound like a normal guitar! :o
OldSlyEyes he has a pedal that keeps the original sound and produces one and octave higher
***** From looking (and listening) to this performance, I think he's just using an Octave pedal. You can hear both streams in parts on the EADG strings as well as another stream with a higher tone/octave. Bass guitars can get pretty high in the tones (See Cliff Burtons various solo's among many others) without the addition of Baritone Guitar strings. Quite possibly the MXR pedal?
I also did a quick search, where they use dual amp setup:
EHX Micro POG
Boss TU-2
Marshall MG100DFX combo
Ashdown ABM 500 EVO III + cabs
(Copied from a video's description)
Edit 2: Just saw a post on a bass forum where someone was able to grab a pic of his pedal/amp setup. He's definitely using quad pedals (dual pogs and dual harmonizers) going to a dual amp setup (bass & Guitar). His Basses were standard 4 strings from the looks of it.
inspired by Jeff Buckley?
His bass is always out of tune in his live performances.
there is not just bass in there. I hear guitar
The bassist does uses his bass to make a guitar sound beside the bass
Mike Seddon when he's playing onstage yes. But when he first recorded it, he had to have used a guitar
wlliamson53 He did not, he split the signal and shifted the octave of the chain going into guitar amp.
unaimed1337 Nope. I don't buy it
wlliamson53 Dude, you just saw it..
his c is out
Ben is a monster. Killing it as ever!!!
