I just love how they set vintage guitars down on hard surfaces without padding.
They're just doing relics for the sellers.
"What you have here is a...*reads label* Les Paul Professional"
He already knows what it is, the "expert" owns the guitars you see on the show, and the amount he says it's "worth" is the amount he sells them for.
@@MrParkerman6 - Everything's a conspiracy 🤣
hahaha
What you have here is a Les Paul professional, because I can read.
Lmao
111hima
Stephen Sansom hey I was going to say that!!
Stephen Sansom really? Seems he knows his guitars
LoL
Dude gonna come back in an hour with a fake mustache and glasses and buy it himself
Never bring or sell your guitar to a pawn shop!
That could be a 1970. He could have easily checked the serial number on the back of the headstock to confirm. It was very common for the potentiometers to be from the previous year to the build of the instrument. They had stock piles of them in bins and would use up the ones they had in stock before ordering new ones
Thought same. Pots were dated 44th week of 1969, which is just two months prior to 1970. So, depending on Gibson inventory, those pots could've been around awhile. Fender was infamous for using pots that were several years old.
I can't believe a '69 LP would only be worth $2200 The way he was chalking it up confirming its all original I was expecting it to be astronomical in value
For a second I thought I hear $22000 but then... woah... $2200 is low. I thought it was going to be worth at least $10000
@@paoloantonio1531 This particular guitar never really got very popular. It needed a special booster box just to plug it into a standard amp of the day.
they aren't sought after at all. If you want a vintage gibson for projects all the 60's stuff is still avaliable
@@paoloantonio1531remember this was filmed like 10 years or more ago... can't compare post covid prices..
I have the exact same guitar I thought it would be worth more than that
2200!!!
That’s an insult to the les Paul community!
That’s an INSULT TO THE PEZ COMMUNITY!!!
“So, $500? Remember, I’m taking all the risk here.”
I hated that show ripping off those poor people
“So how much is it worth?”
*snaps neck of guitar
“In this condition? 50 bucks.”
More of this😂
The guitar expert reminds me of cm punk
Keanue Reeves here.
Yea cuz he is a punk
Reminds me of keanu
But less arrogant
Except the expert is probably way better at MMA lol
I had the later version of this, called the Les Paul Recording Model, bought new in 1974, same pickups and other features but a bit more neatly packaged. Very nice guitar for sure.
"I don't see why you couldn't pull $2,200 from this guitar." Or, alternatively, $8,200 for a mint '69 Les Paul professional.
it wasnt mint
mint 20,000 , average 4000 broken neck missing pups etc 2200
Here in France, this model of Les Paul could be worth from 20 to 25 grands !
DANY (France)
I had a Les Paul professional in 1970. It came with a special guitar chord for the low output pick-ups. It was some electronic gizmo in the chord to give it a boost.
You mean cord, right?
@@classicsciencefictionhorro1665 , Yes sorry cord.
I recently started playing guitar, so my knowledge of guitars leaves a lot to be desired. Even I thought $2200 was an extremely low estimate.
LP Professionals and Recordings used those low impedance pickups that aren’t very popular with guitar players. That’s why the $2,200 estimate.
As Jesse Amoroso, I'm a LP guitar fan and I own a 1963 LP Standard model. To me, it's also the best electric guitar in the worls. thanks so much mister Les Paul for havin' invented it !!!
DANY (French Riviera - France)
No such thing as a 1963 Les Paul guitar. Gibson didn't manufacture them from 1962-67. You must have an SG model.
The price on ebay for one of these is 3100$ but its refurbished, so this one having all original parts is worth along the 5k range, I hope this guy didn't sell it to Rick.
I love whenever they bring Jesse in
It's painful to see them sold for nothing.. hurts.
Remember that 1952 Tele...
$2,220 for that guitar is an absolute joke. Someone’s running a scam here!
jesse is like trogly buy for a nickle on a dollar and sell for 3 x its worth
unless it was life or death i would not have sold that guitar , tho i am more of a Fender guy
zeb doz make sure there is room in your casket for it
This Model was the first one that I got to Play-Owned by a 16 year old in about 1972-It was a Les Paul Personal-Value $2100 to $2600 in Fine Condition-The Low Out put is why they did not sell-except for recording-The fellow also had a Les Paul Amp-WOW-Sweet Guitar !That 16 year old was already a Pro-I bought a Gibson ES-355-Stereo soon after-then traded it in for a Les Paul Deluxe-Would love to see what Rick paid for it!
A friend of mine has a 1956 Goldtop Les Paul with P90 pickups. All original, except for the pickup windings. The tone pot is stuck wide open, so he uses an EQ pedal to change the tone.
No one ever got a good deal selling anything in a pawn shop ever. Thats kinda the point, no?
You best believe if my "buddy" is coming down to take a look at it that he already knows the signal to give that means 'this guitar is worth a lot of money but I'm going to low ball it on my estimate'
1:29 - 2:08 Thank you for the Inspection .... i have a lot of this old condensators .... i`m happy
I like this guy He acts like the sellers not even there Lmao
You just know that Rick tells Jesse beforehand to lie about how much it's really worth.
2200 ??? so it's cheaper than a new one ??? wow yeah he's not in Rick's pocket book. this is disgusting
22 hundred no try 22 thousand. You can buy a regular Gibson for $2,200
Its a misconception that vintage guitars are worth more than modern ones. I remember how stunned I was to find that I could buy a genuine vintage Gibson or Fender for LESS than I would have to pay for one made this year.
the problem is with this one is nobody wants it. $2,200 is a very fair price for this guitar. If it were a standard in that condition you'd be looking at 5 figures.
***** you are talking straight out of your ass, the humbucker was introduced in 56
What exactly is 'regular' Gibson? And what makes this one special? It's kind of rare, but that's where it's appeal ends. It's not very sought after, not very interesting, not innovative, not very good looking, not in mint condition. What exactly makes this guitar cost 22 thousand according to you? I'd say 2200 is too generous for this old piece of junk. Name is only thing that gives it that price.
Gibson's made some great guitars (not my preferred brand but I'll give them due credit) but their prices are ridiculous these days, plus their quality is often not great
Guitar worth 22 thousand dollars
Rick: I’ll tell you what, the best I can do is 22 dollars. I can’t risk anything.
Seller: mmmmmmm done
I sold at least one of these, new. Incredible number of sounds. Actually, we had a couple later models. Boat anchors, but a lot of great sounds!
Quien iba a pensar que la guitarra de Ariel Pozzo fue a terminar en Las Vegas. Jajja
I tripped so hard when he said 2200. I was expecting a 6 number figure based on all the talk.
I have a 79 Bluesbird by Guild (out of business now!) that looks a lot like this minus the pickup guards and the weird black phase-switch and tone-selector thing. In fact I've never even seen that on a Gibson Studio Guitar, I usually see that on their Studio basses.
Also, 2200? More like 3200 maybe. That's a really wicked piece and all the original parts inside with that rare-ish tone-selector thing is certainly an eye catcher.
I punched the screen when I saw them laying it down on a flat surface.
So did I
Ok so given that I know nothing at all about guitar's, why is that a bad thing?
Doing that, you may warp the guitar's arm.
slow down cone head
David Dundas never do that to a Gibson....
1:36
"It's all original, It's all original"
YEAH BRO, FOR SURE
Ariel ...
Miles away with that appraisal... my dad just bought one for $15,000... practically the same exact model
Practically the same model and the same model in the guitar world is where it all counts. This particular model is worth about what he valued it at in that condition.
A new cheap Les Paul cost 2200.00 bucks, that guitar is worth way more.
"If it wasn't for Les Paul Rock and Roll wouldn't exist" - that's a bold over the top sweeping statement if there ever was one! Your obviously choosing to ignore Fender and the Tele / Broadcaster and also all the other greats that played these guitars. Not just Les Paul.
Fender guitars shaped the sound of early rock and roll way more than Les Pauls did. In the 50's NOBODY played Les Pauls except Les Paul! Gibson's early contribution to rock and roll was the ES 335 in the hands of Chuck Berry.
Gav Danby-Cooper I think he wasn’t only talking about the guitars but also the recording techniques like distortion and multitracking
True, Leo Fender had as much to do with R’n R as Les did but remember Leo wasn’t a musician, Les was. So he could create from a musicians’ perspective
Les Paul invented multi tracking, which 90% of Rock & Roll recordings have used since.
Jimmy Page is the only person I can think of when I see a Gibson Les Paul.
If you go on guitar center you will see that some Gibsons are 3500 I bet this guy just said that to rick and picked it up after savage af!!!
My 1969 Les Paul Custom sells for over ten grand. I paid $400 for the guitar in '69
Sometimes also called a 'Les Paul Recording' or 'Les Paul Personal'.
This guitar is NOT in fully original condition. The low impedance pickups and electronics needed an impedance transformer that was supplied inline with a special cable. Most guitar amps have high impedance inputs, so for this guitar to work properly, an impedance transformer is a must. Someone installed a transformer inside the guitar (held in place by electrical tape, no less). Gibson started installing onboard transformers in their later Les Paul Recording and Triumph Bass models.
I love pawn stars ands his family
I love these les pauls
Wtf??... $2200 ??... A new Gibson will cost more than that. Pawn Stars were always scammers. I hated that slimy show.
The "expert" already owns that guitar, and that's what he was selling it for.
HardRockMiner it’s because the LP professional isn’t a popular model.
Because a new Gibson is New and better.
@@user-jo6ne2xo1v lmao a new Gibson is not better, they use China parts now and they didn't back in the 60s
That's one fukin ugly guitar. Something probably best for elderly jazz players.
This Guitar Is So Rare! Most People Can Taste it For SURE!!
Great finish qreat model
It's most likely NOT a 1969. The pot date codes were the 44th week of 1969. That is when the pots were made. By the time those pots were installed in that guitar, it was most likely 1970.
Yes,going on pot dates, especially with a late year week isn't a good way to check what year it is!
I guess you could spin this any way you like. The guitar could of already been built waiting for parts or Gibson could of used extra parts in the 70's. Even serial numbers can be deceiving, my dad's 56 gives a 1972 date also.
That pot might be from '69 but it doesn't mean the guitar is. It likely is but I wouldn't trust the validation solely on a part you can easily swap in and out with basic tools and soldering skills.
2200$ for one of the pickups. Gawd, that was such a low appraisal.
It's all for tv, that's probably just a squire strat in the background but they just avoid the headstock
I just had a Pawn Stars Ad
Jesse: after the first three numbers you have the number 69
Me: nice
Es la guitarra de Pozzo!
quien es pozzo? el gordo que tiene un ojo para cada lado?
68 was the year Gibson started making les paul again
You could look on the back of the head stock
That thing was so cool
The Les Paul Recording model was my first professional guitar. How I wish I still had it! So what was the handshake at the end? Did the shop owner buy it? This guitar could easy sell for more than twenty two hundred dollars.
One of the only "experts" I don't hate on here.
Best guitar les Paul
i like this guy jessie great guy he knows everything about guitars and hes a good player as well
anthony mallia ok
U guys friends
I hope he did not take 2200
You actually think they OFFERED him 2200? Once Rick heard the experts absolutely ridiculous estimate on the price, I am sure he started the negotiation at around a 1000, probably settling at around 1600 (hopefully the seller didnt go for it).
A 69 les Paul?! *mouth waters*
This particular Les Paul model wasn't very popular with all the metal heads--it was too complicated, and it played too clean.
Les Paul recording was a great guitar.
Seems that condition is everything.
So what did he get, $800 from Rick? Got keep the lights on and all. Those lights are very expensive.
Best I can do is a Happy Meal, and I get to keep the toy
Mr. I know everything had never seen a Les Paul with low impedance pickups
Don't he mean 22,000!!!! which is a steal!!!
The price $2200 seems way too low. I've seen '69 Les Paul Customs going going for an upwards of $10,000.
This is not all original, that yellow transformer is a akg for microphones with low impedance and thus be able to raise the power of the signal, since these guitars had singlecoil and served very well for the study, plugging it to an amplifier did not sound from the same way as a guitar with p-90 for example. In this way it is a lie that it is all original in all. I know this because the first owner of this guitar confirmed it.
Les Paul's early personal guitars had wiring to not only play guitar but also to accept a microphone. He is seen playing a LP with a gooseneck microphone plugged into it, like bob barker. attached to the guitar. Pretty interesting, even though I wouldn't use the guitar that way.
Great guitar they dont make them today like this anymore
Had to double check that $2200 estimate, apparently, that's about what they go for in aftermarket.
i wonder why so low?
I’m call and see if they still got it
Are they still making new episodes or is it all reruns now? I'd like to see someone bring in a convincing looking Chibson. Then Chum buys it and gets burned again haha.
68’s the 1st year tho
Gotta love gib.....fender
Customer: I have a heart attack call 911
Rick: Best I can do is 9
The year they started using Les Paul's name again was 1968 not 1969. They made the Les Paul Custom with a one piece neck with two humbucking pickups and a Goldtop with two P90's, In 1969 they went to the three piece neck . The pot codes on this guitar are 44th week of 1969.
This guy rippen em off 100%
I would use that GUITAR 🎸
for
Fire Wood 🔥
$2200 ten years ago ~ maybe (probably low). That guitar would fetch $5000+ today.
Why are the pickups at an angle?
Somewhere around 10k to 15k surely for a cool guitar like this ? Maybe more.
Never get the hype with old classic guitars in a recording aspect. No one buys a classic TV or radio
Jesse is the man, no argument there. But I think the worth of that guitar, in that condition, is worth more nowadays. I really think that was a low price, Even 7 years ago, I'd think at least 4K. Jesse is in Vegas too so, I'd think the prices would be higher.
2200 lol talk about a scam
Nice year
Rick will pay $500 commission to Jesse if the deal done
This guitar was never and, still today not a popular Les Paul model. The price quoted is about right.
He's got to get it cased aka framed
$2200 yeah right, I'm thinking a little higher even though it's not a very collectable guitar
it looks like don rich guitar from buck owens and the buckaroos
68 was the first reissue year they used his name
You heard the man I'll give you 22$
