Thank you Kris. There are a lot of great antique booth advice videos up on youtube now but when I first started I was starved for this kind of content. I hope this can provide someone with what I was looking for back then.
New subscriber here, hi, hello! Just wanted to tell you that you have one of the most beautiful booths I've seen on youtube. My style is more Mid mod/retro but I appreciate your aesthetic a ton. I'm mostly based online and have a vintage clothing rack in a retail space, but starting to heavily consider an antique booth. You're right, this job is a lot of work, people who don't do this underestimate the amount of time it takes to get the products ready for the public. So glad that you pointed that out. There's tons of prep work, labor and mental acuity involved.
Don't be so hard on your self your doing a great job with your venture I love what you find and your staging and dressing of your both is just amazing your brilliant at what you do keep it up girl 👧 lm lots of love from a follower from Glasgow from bonny Scotland ❤❤
I liked the holes on the painting. It gave it more character. I'd love a breakdown of the financials behind your antique business with a breakdown of sales, rent (both and storage), other expenses, or however much you're comfortable sharing. Even though I've been flipping furniture for years, I've only had a booth for at an antique mall for about a year (started just before it closed for a couple of months due to the pandemic) and would love any knowledge and advice. Love your channel, keep up the good work!
Yeah, Alpha and Omega is crazy expensive. I’ve gone twice but don’t go anymore. I do like the Antique Mall in Stuarts Draft. They have pretty decent prices, but I am not a reseller so I am not sure about your markup. I am so happy I found you. It’s awesome finding local and seeing all the places you go. Maybe you give me sneak peak at other great places. I didn’t know about the auction house, but I’m not sure if that would be my type of fun. I love thrifting and actually hunting for the treasures at antique malls or yard sales or estate sales. I have to say, I LOVE the Antique Mall here in Verona. I take EVERYONE there. I have family driving in next week almost 3 hours just to go visit. Totally worth the trip
A Local!!! Thank you so much Kathy! I really like Stuarts Draft too. I'll have to do a place I treasure hunt video for everyone. The FAM is still one of the best in VA by far
Amada, so glad your making video's. Your style is fresh and airy. Love it. I have 2 locations and flip furniture. Now new to UA-cam. So glad your doing well.
Thank you Heather! I'm so impressed when shop owners have more than 1 location and do more than 5 furniture makeovers a month AND you have a UA-cam channel! Girl you are HUSTLING. Incredible. Your latest video about why furniture is selling so well right now was very insightful. Subbed immediately.
Love those chunky floor lamps!! They would look great painted gray with white wax in all the crevices. 🥰 Yesterday we went to the shop to pick up a piece of furniture that sold on marketplace only to find it had been damaged in the shop - FOR THE THIRD TIME! 🤬 It's so frustrating... I hope you win that rug in the auction... and that you turn it into cushions like the ones you had before. I'd love to see how you do that!
@@amandasmercantile first the top split -- we're not really sure what happened. We think it might've been from the temperature or humidity in the shop although ... it was over a hundred years old and sat in a barn for many years and then in our garage for a year or so and never split or swelled, so...?? Then they put the sanitizer station on it and the alcohol took the finish off the top where it dripped. And finally the other day they dropped something heavy on it and the paint chipped... Right after I sold it, of course. So we had to bring it home and repair it before we could deliver it. I was starting to think that piece was cursed! I'm just really really glad it's sold and just hope the buyer doesn't have any issues!
Good job. I'm an old picker and had 3 shops. Your booth looks great! That portrait looks like Walter Cronkite LOL. Most have no idea about the time, expenses and labor involved.
3 shops! God bless you. I would love to expand to other locations but that would require some hiring of help. Maybe one day? I would say I even forget all the little nuances of running a booth. He does look look Mr. Cronkite! Thank you Buick!
You have such an eye for antiques. , not that they’re all super valuable but interesting and fun! Your booth is so well curated!🤗 I’m so inspired to be prepared! (I also watch how XO McKenna-fun)
Thank you! I try and it took me awhile to discipline myself to only source inventory that went with my "brand". I hate saying that but its the only way I can think to describe it. I really enjoy MaCenna's videos. She's just a fun personality to watch.
You probably already know this but... Have you tried waxing the drawer guides in your beautiful dresser so it opens easier? May save those incredible pulls.
I just found your videos and I AM OBSESSED watching all of them.. You are SOO good at decorating your booth.. I have two booths and struggle w always keeping fresh and trending ... I love seeing yours come together, are there any others that you get any inspiration from that I should go follow?? THANK YOU SOO MUCH
Debbie! Thank you so much for following along. I struggle as well but I really try not to over think it if I can help myself. I really enjoy Carpenter Studio Vintage here on UA-cam and XO, MaCenna. On Instagram I really like @copperseal, @oldcottonwood, @jbsmercantile, @honeyhombmarket
Yay! I'm always so excited when I see that you uploaded something new! Thank you for sharing this . It was from many different days and that explains well how it takes that much Hustle to make your booth successful! I have also rented a storage unit and I like how it at least helps me get stuff out of the house and it's not in my face all the time. I liked the "creepy boy" and gentleman paintings! I also liked the piece you picked up and painted black 🖤
Yes! Thank you Elizahbet. The storage unit has been very helpful so far and is filling up quicker than expected but I'm not as overwhelmed with it as I was when the garage would fill up.
Great video Amanda. Getting the storage unit will be a big time saver and organization element for you in the future! Your booth looks so great!!! Wish you the best!
@@amandasmercantile Yes, the Milk Pitcher. I’ve been looking for larger marked pitchers too if you come across them. I know “true” collectors may not care if there is a marking on the piece as they know Ironstone, but I guess I am a “label snob” lol and want to see my beauties on display. I am not really a collector of anything, i just like what I like in the Farmhouse style and I pick up a few pieces here and there when I find them. I prefer thrifting or yard selling. The Antique Mall is really a “splurge” for me but I enjoy the hunt and there is always incredible things in there.
Sweet! I was so excited to see that you had a new video out... I've been *patiently* waiting! Love your style, love your videos, and love your collections idea! I'm slowly working towards my own 'collection' for this fall and winter in my booth! So stoked! Keep it up!
Abigail! My apologies for it taking so long and thank you for kind words. Girl! You are ahead of the game for fall and winter resets. Your gonna feel so well prepared!
Love all the content you share regarding the ups and downs of having a antique booth. I just started in Oct of 2020 and love it, even though the pandemic 😷 made it a little challenging at times. I’m slowly figuring it out. I also just got a storage unit to store my reset collections. Wanted to ask if you can do a video of the layout of your storage unit and how you process your inventory and store it?
Thank you Connie! I can try but I'll warn you that it's not super professional or anything. I try to finish fixing and cleaning pieces before taking them to the unit. I really don't want my storage unit to turning into a project dumping ground and I got a set a shelves to lay out all of my smalls on so I can see what I have. My storage unit is a 10x20
How do you account for the work you put into your pieces (cleaning, painting, etc) when pricing? I'm binge watching all of your old videos but have been following you for a while.
I am one of those new am subscribers, glad I found you! I was wondering how you find auctions/auction house? Do you bid online? I have rented a consignment booth now for nine months, here in Alabama. I am looking to learn more. Love your booth and your videos!
Thank you so much Rhonda! Google auctions + your Zip code and something should come up. Some auction are online and some are in person so a little bit of both.
I'm so excited you uploaded this video. I moved into a apartment with a garage I can rent so I got one and I've now filled it with all my paint and furniture! Also are you doing Lucketts anytime soon? Or a craft booth? I just love your preperation videos!
Thank you Diana! A garage is a game changer for this business. I am not sure what is going on with Lucketts this year. Normally it is a spring market and we are kinda past that point for this year BUT I will hopefully be working on preparations for it next year.
I’ve had a storage unit since September after I moved from a store front and it’s so full that it’s no use to me. I just have so much stuff and it’s not selling. I want to try a booth space in addition to my she shed space!
It couldn't hurt.... Worth a try? Not too much risk in renting a 10x10 booth in a popular antique mall. As long as you think you can at least make the rent back + some profit you'll be fine and growth will come from there. Do you sell on Facebook Marketplace at all? Also something you might want to check out.
It's great to see someone post the reality of selling vintage and all the hard work it takes
Thank you Kris. There are a lot of great antique booth advice videos up on youtube now but when I first started I was starved for this kind of content. I hope this can provide someone with what I was looking for back then.
I was thinking the same!
I love that your booth does not look cluttered or smashed together. Beautiful and enticing. No wonder you have problems keeping it stocked.
Your vibe inspires me to do better in my business…..❤
I learn something new from u every time I watch your videos. For that, I am most grateful 🙏
Thank you Shari! I appreciate you coming along for the journey.

Nice to meet you! The Buynar bunch from Fishersville!
It was wonderful to meet you and Joe too Tammy! My shopping video is coming out today and I made sure to include you both!
